    used this video as a guide for my club car precedent which we had lifted and added new tires/rims- it would no longer fit in the toyhauler. Now the roof collapses and the golf cart fits once again in my toyhauler. Thank you Lee Downey!!!

    Just did my 09 Club Car DS. Only thing I did different was a bought some1/4" inside diameter plastic bushing with flanges.
    just had to drill the holes in the uprights slightly larger to fit the bushings. Very quiet while driving off road.
    Very well done instructional video sir.

      @@margieperry9123 Thanks. It just occurred to me you could hinge the front but not that back. However, you could still make the 45 degree cut in the back and use the 2 flat bars on either side to hold it in place. You would just need to remove all 4 bolts and the two pieces of flat bar in the rear to allow the front to fold down. Because of how flimsy the front would be during transport, you'd have to secure the rear isomehow during transport as to not bend or twist the front folding mechanism.

    My ST is too tall ( by 8" )to get under my garage door. Fantastic idea. I see an improvement to it by adding a bumper to the front edge so when you fold down the bumper sticks up so the sharp edge doesn't poke the roof. Have you thought about using a locking pin or a lynch pin ?

    What are the measurements for the rear bolt holes for the wing nut bolts? Ifthey were put back in when it was folded down and in the correct place wouldnt they keep the top of the rear upright from contacting the roof? It looks like it worked out perfect in this video...and didnt know if it "just happened" that way...or if u had a certain position for the middle bolt. That way it would serve two purposes

    • @leedowney8587

      I used 1/4" bolts in those holes. Not sure what you mean by measurements for the bolt holes? I just measured down from the roof 1 inch further than I did for the front supports. Not sure about putting them back in once it's folded down. That's up to you. I just placed a small towel over the tops of the cut posts to protect the roof.

    • @leedowney8587
      @leedowney8587  7 років тому

      You know Tiffany, I'm not sure. When I Googled this golf cart, it appears the front struts are slanted to the back and the rear struts are straight up and down. I would think it would work fine as long as you make your cuts so that the cart roof will collapse to the rear. I would also modify the 45 degree angle cut on the front struts since they are already slanted. Maybe you only need a 30 degree cut since they appear to already be 15-20 degree angled. Good luck with the project.
