There were a lot of things wrong with the battle and episode itself. One, team rocket interfered as usual in the worst possible way almost barring Ash from the battle in the first place prompting Ritchie to stall for time. Two, because of the interference ash was down a Pokemon since Pidgeotto was getting ash to the stadium (thank goodness it wasn't a 6 v 6) Three, judge deemed Squirtle unable to battle due to just getting hit by sleep powder from Ritchie's Butterfree. Four, and most importantly Ash relying on Charizard when at the time Charizard was way too unreliable due to Charizard not obeying and respecting Ash. Also the Judge was probably losing his patience at this point. In my opinion Ash still had Bulbasaur, if Ash used Bulbasaur Ash may not have won but for Ash I think the loss would be more easier to handle because Bulbasaur showed Ash respect especially when Ash encouraged Bulbasaur's decision to not evolve.
@@DyrPlays the animation looks like volt tackle and it has the priority of quick attack (basically Ash’s favorite move). And the move does less damage than Volt tackle so crit doesn’t matter
Fun fact that almost everyone doesn’t know or not: if you see the Pikachu moving a joystick on your bottom left corner, it means Pikachu wants to play with you

Another rule you could add for another ash run you do, you should have your pokemon they had before they evolved, then when they evolve, they get the moveset use once they evolve, and if its a 3 stage evolution, the last time they evolve, they get there entire moveset

The Kanto league loss wasn't even Ash's fault. It was Charizard's for being asleep, and the official mistaking sleeping for not being able to battle.
