Your hired ! Excellent !!!
There's nothing like a owner who has the experience. 999 others just pay a firm to build something totally useless for most owners in several respects. Huzzah!
"Blue Highways!" I love that book so much it disintegrated on me!
I DO appreciate a practical traveler. Great ideas
Woo! Woorooo! 😂 That was the best ending.
This is exactly the video I’m looking for
underrated video
Thank You for a very informative video. You have a great way of explaining stuff. This is the millionth van build video I have watched, and the only one I didn't have to skip sections of useless information. Much Appreciated. Can't wait for a video of the cool pull-out slat bed!
Nice voice, and very informative contents. I don't have a van to convert but I just play your videos to soothe me to sleep.
I'd run a blower box around that heater core, if it gets really cold that'll heat the van up quick. Objects hold heat so once it's up to temperature your normal heating source won't have to work as hard to keep the back warm.
Fantastic video. If was me I will add a door in the miscellaneous shelf to drop down and work as a table counter. Anyways love your design!
you are a literal genius i love this
That shelf behind the drivers seat is pure genius, wish this video had existed before i built a useless hanging closet space. Hoping to downsize from an e250 to an astro, thanks for the great ideas!
I am so happy to see you information I am looking to start my van build again after testing out for one year.
Y'all gon' make me lose my mind
up in HERE, up in here
Y'all gon' make me go all out
up in here, up in here
Y'all gon' make me act a FOOL
up in HERE, up in here
Y'all gon' make me lose my cool
up in here, up in here
Brilliant design & execution. Great workmanship also. Thanks for sharing.
I love the layout of this! Definitely the best use of space I've seen in an astro van tour. Plus triangles of safety 😂
I like your unique take on storage and organization. Provided some really good food for thought.
Just wanted to drop a comment before your channel blows up. I liked PNW DIY before it was cool!
Great design concepts. As you mentioned there is so much wasted space with countertops. Your shelves and container system works perfectly for most of our needs. Nice video.
Awesome, well planned!
I agree! Great points on storage and no kitchen, which I love 🥰 We don’t cook indoors when we’re tent camping, why do we cook indoors when van camping??
Incredibly helpful video. Haven’t seen balance in fixed storage like this before. Organization, open and functional, very thought provoking for my build
Epic video, thanks for taking the time, I watch so many van life videos, and still had countertops planned for my next build / rebuild of my current vehicle. But after watching this I may end up with hinged or folding or movable countertops and less fixed countertops more shelving and compartments
This is so sweet! Easy preasy, quick and smooth. You make it look easy anyway....?? Totally Loved this setup/video. Thanks. ❤️🐾🎈
Wow, what an efficient, thoughtful design. I really like the "cabin" feel & aesthetic. Very informative and I love the length of your video. New subscriber.
I just put a deposit down on a 2000 AWD Astro and can't wait for it to be shipped to me. I've been devouring these videos to see what layouts suit me and this is a good one. I will go with a fixed bed with a 30 x 75 mattress. I'll also round off all 90 degree edges. Thanks for posting.
This is fabulous!! I'm on my second build in a smaller van and want it so much simpler than the last. Thx for sharing.
I love that you fill top to bottom, I like alot of work van shelving and always wonder why full timers don't utilise this massive space user.
Great job. Love the shelving and the cabinet!
Haha love the van name! And the sound effects 😂
Great video!
This was awesome! ...I'm just at the stage of trying to plan the layout for my Mercedes Vito LWB van, and this was super useful for me. I see all the beautiful van builds for high roof larger vans - they look awesome, but I've been trying to figure out how to scale it down in a way that makes sense for me. In the van build community, people tend to recycle the same design principles - some of them do seem to work (in a larger van) but I have been trying to think outside this body of received wisdom. Because a van is NOT a house, no matter what you do to it. You need to think about weight, super efficient use of space, liveability.
I specially love the point about using the full height... my Vito is not a high roof van, but it is bigger than a minivan. There is loads of space... as long as I figure out how to use it well!
Love your videos, man, especially your thoughts on useable space. nice build
I appreciate that!
Just bought a van and you gave me amazing ideas!!! Ur awesome 😎
Great use of space 🎈
Impressive design and yes you explain everything so well! BIG TALENT! thanks for making these videos.
thanks for making this!! so much inspo for my astro
Coffee spill 😂 as learning tool!!!
Really awesome work
Awesome job!
Great build, can't say how great it all looks. Surprised you haven't done any kind of blackout privacy curtains to separate the cab from the back though, I would think that helps stealth camp and maybe provide less heat loss while sleeping.
Thanks! I actually do have blackout curtains up front that I can put up and take down when needed.
Деревяшка-это здорово
What a great informative video! Helped a lot Thanks dood !
Wow, wow, wow! So simple and efficient. Very nicely done, thanks for sharing.
P.S. You can hide your face Bob Odenkirk, but you can't hide your voice ;P jk
Awesome video! Its super informative! Will incorporate that ceiling to floor shelf in my build. I came from your post from reddit. :)
Just came over from Instagram :)
Forgot how pleasing your voice was
IS THAT HOUSE OF LEAVES?!
I think I might do my van shelving like this, and then the top shelf with a drop down box so I can use it as a desk to eat inside
Great job! Love the van but I’m looking for a less permanent version. I love having the seating capacity for family trips but would also like to set it up for camping and sleeping in for just the two of us.
I really like the shelving units and sense of space. Do you cook outside? What's your food prep cooking method?
Nice guide! What was the name of the clear toiletry bag?
Have you read Blue Highways..I found it interesting...but damn it was the hardest to read book I've ever read..Travels with Charlie ( Steinbeck ) was an easy read..Roughing It ( Mark Twain ) humorous and historic..
Do you typically install flooring before shelving to eliminate square footage? Or is it best to do flooring first so that the shelving is level?
I'm curious about the hooks; do they have a specific purpose, or are they just generally handy?
Any links for the heater that runs off the coolant? Is this the relocated heater core?
This is amazing. Basically the exact setup I want for my Astro! For the shelf, is that something you custom built? Apologies if this is explained in another video
Everything in DisastroVan v2 is custom built by hand :)
@@UltralightNerd awesome. Do you have any dimensions or anything like that? Any help is appreciated. Love your videos
do you have and tips or tricks for safety/ security im planning on getting a 2005 astro i was wondering if you could give me some advice since it is a minivan
Hey I really love your shelf idea and was wondering if I could copy it
This is so wholesome. Hell yeah. I made this so y'all could build your own :) Go for it!
@Kads Baker Could you 🙏🏼 please share what the width of the tall shelf behind the driver seat is? I watched twice & can't recall if you mentioned it.
How deep are the passenger side shelves at the bottom?
What are the dimensions of the passenger side cabibet?
Could you elaborate on the heater you have the pulls heat from the coolant lines?? I haven't seen any other vans with this.
Caught my interest too. @6:10 he implies this was part of the van system and not easily removed so was built around. I have a plan to heat a water tank from the rear heater pipework... looking forward to that experiment
Looks like the Astro van on the Hanging with Herky UA-cam Channel. Did you build that one as well?
Nope, but they did credit the build layout to this channel in their vid :)

lol sunbeam
FIRST
Where was all the cooking gear stowed?
Under the bed. Check out my Pelican kitchen video.
Excellent video!
