I think they removed the airline credit because it just wasn't used. Gotta remember people that have a Centurion card are probably flying business class on the regular and there's a good chance they have airline status. Meaning they probably don't have a use for waiving checked bags, seat selection, in flight refreshments etc.
I only have Gold, I've never bought into Plat b/c the credits are too annoying to try and use and the airline one is the biggest offender. I also fly first/biz all the time as international coach is hell on earth and where i live (SEA)--AS has decent enough pricing that I just pay the difference most of the time (i travel for work) on domestic tickets b/c it's worth it to not be uncomfortable for the entire flight. I'd argue that the Plat card is also failing to meet the demand of its consumers with that stupid credit.
Exactly. I'm not even close to qualifying for a black card, but I still can't use the stupid Platinum card credit because I don't fly economy. Last two years, I got gift cards, but now that that's done I'll have to figure something out. I still have use for the Platinum card for the other perks tho.

Luckily, I was approved for CSP with CL of $13.5k.. first ever CC with that much limit cause my highest limit was $4.5k om freedom and amazon visa signature card 😅😅

American credit cards have ridiculously low credit lines generally. They treat you as bums.

I kindof hope they do something similar on the platinum cards, aspire, and gold card - eliminate the airline incidental fees credits and introduce an easier to use benefit that will be always usable with some value each year. The problem with the incidentals credit is the hoops to jump through (selecting only one airline and finding specific things that will trigger the credit) are too much fuss if you want to carry a number of different amexes.
90% of people will never secure a Centurion Card but for those that do have one, the AF bump is irrelevant.

It's a good thing they are increasing the AF. There are too many AmEx cardholders in the U.S., the thing is not exclusive anymore, which is why you get treated as a number, not a client. I don't have a Centurion card, but I dislike the AmEx Platinum service in the U.S.
@Elinars Agree with you. Any brand that is too commonly seen is no longer exclusive. The same can be said with Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi as there are too many of them on the road that they are no longer exclusive. This is especially true with too many of their used cars being sold cheaply to the peasants compared to their prices when they were brand new. Another brand that is losing its exclusivity is Rolex. In Hong Kong and Singapore, one out of every three adults has a Rolex. This number doesn’t include all the fake Rolexes that people are wearing in those 2 Asian cities. Louis Vuitton is another brand that has lost its exclusivity as there are too many people seen carrying LV bags in public, both genuine and fakes.

Simple hack to get a black Amex. Paint your blue card black. Boom!
It seems like they also doubled the spending requirement to get the black card. It used to be 250k and 500k a year for the personal and business Centurion cards respectively, nows it's 500k and 1mil. Most likely it was too easy before to get them and it wasn't exclusive enough. Also if you use all the benefits and credits, it's only $300 annual fee, which is a lot cheaper than the Canadian's AMEX plat card AF.

You should do a review on the Wells Fargo Amex Propel card. Underrated and understated card with no annual fee with competitive perks along with the higher tier reward cards. Also for aesthetic purposes, the card has a metal base which gives it a premium feel. I love this card and I highly recommend it to everyone I know... HAH

The Centurion card isn't hard to get if you run a business or if you work in certain industries. You can run a Facebook Ads agency (probably pull in $100k a year) but your "spending" could easily be $1 million.
If your goal is to solely get the card, find a job where you can use your own cards to spend other people's money. Or a business that requires you to buy stuff that you subsequently sell.
they added perks that people may or not want to take advantage off , and raised it a whopping $5,000?? crazy stuff. this card aint worth it for the avg joe, but then again its not for the avg joe. its like paying $2500 for legends seats at yankee stadium. this card is for the super elite!

Hello Sebastian, would you recommend an AMEX card with no annual fee and has benefits of earning reward points / cash back or both; preferably no FX fee. Currently I have AMEX Gold Card, dislike their $250 annual fee. Thanks.
Off the top of my head the only card they issue that earns MR points and has no annual fee is the Blue card. It only generates 1x points on all purchases though if I'm not mistaken. The Blue card also has more popular cash and Delta variants if you'd prefer to earn those rewards.
