    As a desert dweller, I love seeing the prickly pear as the representative of cacti. It's far and away the most beautiful cactus, despite how iconic the saguaro is.

    ~2:14 Supposedly redwoods have leaves that absorb water in addition to those that photosynthesize? Most live in fog belts so absorbing water at the top makes more sense than getting 100% of the water from the roots all they way down there. The leaf type is called the axial leaf. I think the study to find this out was done with UC Davis students in 2022.

    Plants are nearly the only source of food. Taking a detour through an animal of fungus doesn't change that fact. ;)
