The real triack is different, the spectactor feels he have chosen the card

That is weak tbh.
However, you can improved and kinda save this trick just by letting the spectator choose a card, controle it to the bottom of the deck. They say any number, you do your move and show them their selected card in their selected position. That way it's more of an ACAAN and it's more powerful. Still, that move it's very fishy, so either do other ACAAN that are better or practice a lot the move.

Any idea how that David Blaine variation works where the spectator chooses the card and number AFTER they're in the deck, and THEY count to the card? I suspect the deck is in a special order and he manipulates the counting to "arrive" at the card but not sure how, thanks!

Use the better method, forcing a card. Keep your thumb on the top card and the rest on the bottom card, keep them tight, then pull. Practice until it looks like one card. Then BAM! You magically guessed their card! 😀
