What a mansion. The minimalist architecture is stunning - this was an expensive/difficult house to build with its advanced structure. It works surprisingly well in this beautiful rural setting. The exposed structure, entrance, ceiling/skylights, stairs, landing, organization, office, master bathroom, exterior, louvres/slats - perfect. Very good filming too.
I wonder who is the architect? The ceiling the triangular ceilings with the punctured lights reminds me very much of John Lautner ceiling of the Goldstein/Sheeth residence and not in Hollywood Hills? This residence seems to have been built around the same time....
Wow!!! By all means Summerveld is supposed to be the residence of the wealthiest of Durban who are supposed to be owning homes valued above R50million as horse ranches like Belle Meade in Nashville. Both Summerveld and Alverstone must be protected for such. Don't allow those townhouses and endless estates there, keep it large horse ranches please - and have a horse route to the new Ntshongweni town centre.😍😍😍😍
The wood you make note of if called Kiaat, characteristics of being durable, extremely stable and easy workability. The wood is renowned for its great bug and termite resistance. It has an impressive strength-to-weight ratio which (combined with its durability) makes it a very versatile, useful wood - suitable for a great variety of applications. It is a native tree to southern Africa but this is a wood which remains very rarely seen in the US.
I truly like the design.🙂
Glad you like it!

The architect is Metropole Architects www.metropolearchitects.com - this residence was recently built but thanks for the info.
