  • It's been a rough couple of weeks at home and we can only imagine the pain those directly affected by the recent tragedy in Nashville are experiencing. We've struggled to navigate the crippling anxiety we've had as parents who are unsure of what actions we can take to best protect our kids at school... that said, we know it is our duty to do something and to use our voices.
We don't know that there is any singular "right" answer at this time and we certain don’t claim to have all the answers ourselves but we know constructive conversations must be had to find them and that can't happen when we lose sight of the fact that we are all on the same side when it comes to wanting to ensure the safety of our children.
Our prayers remain with the Covenant victims and families and loved ones left behind.

Here in Australia we had one big mass shooting in 1996 in Tasmania and our then prime Minister John Howard changed gun laws and thankfully (touch wood) we haven't had one like that since. Changing the laws did help
Thanks for speaking out against the pointless deaths of innocent kids and teachers

All for what you have said. Proper checks need to be done so innocent souls can be saved. I’m in the UK 🇬🇧 hearing the sadness in your voices is how I feel about knives on this country. I’m terrified for my boys here so I can’t imagine how terrifying it if for parents in America 🇺🇸 xx

Being from the UK, I can never understand the gun culture in America. Thank you for using your platform to talk about these issues & the changes that need to happen. Watching the protest & then seeing the names on the screen really broke my heart. My thoughts & prayers are with your community at this time ❤️

Thank you for speaking up about this! It's sad to see some celebrities keeping quiet, or even some being hateful and opposing restrictions and putting up a stink about people wanting COMMON SENSE regulations and gun laws.
You are exactly right, if you are a responsible person, in a good mental state, you should have no issues going through the proper channels to get a firearm. People opposing this are doing it purely just to be difficult, who are wanting to turn it political and complain and/or are too lazy to make things more difficult for themselves.
And people can blame it all on mental health but then don't want to work to fix those issues either or give people the proper help they need.
The fact of the matter is that things are only getting worse, so something needs to change.

I cannot thank you enough for the work you are doing to use your platform to speak up against gun violence. I am a mom of an eight and three year old who worries daily about them while they are at school and daycare. We entrust this system to take care of our children and it isn't. Like you, I am heartbroken. But thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for speaking up because your age group is vital to getting the message out. We have to mobilize the young to vote so that the NRA doesn’t buy candidates.

Hi from Canada. I cannot imagine how scary it must be to live in the states. I pray change comes. The poor children who have grown to know this as “normal”! Thank god for you guys! Thanks for trying even if you aren’t sure if it’ll make the impact needed to fix this issue! Speaking up/taking action/figuring out what you can do for the things you believe in and those children who need the help to stop this, THAT makes it worth it! ❤

When I saw the protests at the TN capitol building, I actually thought about you guys and wondered if you went! I’m glad you did! I completely agree with you that this country needs stricter gun laws because this is ridiculous. I’m 33 and when I was growing up, this wasn’t even a major concern and it’s heartbreaking that children need to go through this kind of trauma at such a young age and unfortunately could potentially carry that trauma into their adulthood.

  • @lifewithamy8528

100% agree about gun laws. I live in Canada but follow the news consistently and it is getting ridiculous. My dad lives in Canada and has His gun license, not because he hunts or actually needs one, he just wanted it. He could not stop complaining about the rules and things he had to do to get it. Now that he has it, and owns a gun, I do not feel comfortable around him and I will never leave my children alone in the house with him and he thinks I have the problem. I think it is just laziness, they just want to be able to do what they want when they want to and it is childish and selfish behaviour that affects everyone else.

What a beautiful video. I'm glad Shenae is doing better. Josh I love the nickname you call Shenae. It's so nice seeing your kids help you with the gardening and it sucks how it all got washed away/destoryed because of the rain. Shenae I watched your Christmas movie and I loved it! On a more serious note thank you Shenae and Josh for using your voices and going out to protest. You guys advocating for your kids when like you said they don't have a voice for themselves is amazing. Keep up the good work being amazing parents. As I was watching the video of the protesting it made me bit emotional but I'm so happy that people are coming togeter to fight this issue that has been plauging America for years. Best wishes and be safe! ❤😃

Love you are using your voice for good. One comment on the mental health check prior to purchasing a gun though. It is very easy to pass a mental health check unless you are actively in the midst of an ‘episode’. People lie and say whatever they need to pass - we’ve seen this before in other industries (shipping industry for example), so for me, implementing a basic mental health questionnaire or interview will not make any huge difference. Having said that, even if it saves one life, it’s worth doing. ❤️

Bad people will always get guns. They don’t obey the laws. It’s sad but people and children are getting murdered all over the world, whether trafficked, kidnapped, beaten, knives by being ran over by cars or guns. It’s a cruel world. When right is no longer right and wrong is right, and our whole America is upside down this is what we are getting. Mental health NEEDS addressed. My son has it. I’ve fought this system for 34 years! If I even thought for one second he would hurt someone there’s no stopping me from stopping him. But the system does not stop them! I’m beside myself. How do WE make them understand the enormity of mental illness? Granted, not everyone who kills will have said “mental illness” but come on, to murder anything, an animal, or a person, there’s something wrong! What do WE do? Video tape them acting out on a corner. Taunt them. Laugh at them. Or just see them as invisible and do nothing. My heart breaks every second of every day😭.

Yes bad people will always have guns. But these school shootings are almost never with illigal guns. Or from a parent who just left it somewhere to take. Or bought legaly. I also think to add to these rules they want. There should be a. If there is kids under 21 in the house your not allowed to have a gun. So kids can not grab parents guns.

I totally understand and agree on some points y’all feel are the solutions to fix school shootings. And as a gun owner and mother, myself and husband are worried too. But STOP leaving it to the government to fix a society issue…. And please really think about saying it’s a gun issue…. A gun doesn’t fire off on its own. The lady who killed those children and teachers chose to do it , just like millions of people who chose to get a drivers license the RIGHT WAY and get behind a vehicle, that is a weapon when used as one , intoxicated… killing children and adults… we as a society aren’t protesting the government to make stronger drinking laws . It’s a society problem!!!! People who have sick mental thoughts will still kill innocent children and people if the government makes stronger gun laws… stop putting it in the hands of the ALREADY fucked up government and HELP YOUR NEIGHBOR, COWORKER, FAMILIES, FRIENDS. STOP YOUR LOVED ONE BEFORE THEY KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE. Say the government does make stricter rules for owning a gun , someone fucked up in the head WILL FIND A WAY TO GET AHOLD OF A GUN and ammo … or they’ll go into a school and set it on fire, or stab innocent people or blow it up??!! Telling the government to focus on guns ( THAT NEED A HUMAN TO PULL A TRIGGER TO LOAD IT AND FIRE IT) is not the thing to focus on!!! It’s a healthcare issue to focus on and a society issue to focus on , y’all say we need to stop being divided so start there everyone, help people who have terrible thoughts like the lady who killed those people at school…. Because there are more people like her that are out there in America

So why is this not an issue in the UK??! Mental health and healthcare is a huge problem here and we aren’t in fear of sending our kids to school 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @MsLooulooute
      @MsLooulooute Рік тому

It’s not a society issue it’s an AMERICAN society issue aka guns issue! It ONLY happens in the US and people with mental health issues are EVERYWHERE in the world and yet we don’t have mass shootings the only difference between you and the rest of the world is your lack of gun control and insane love for your 2nd amendment… Your constitution NEEDS TO BE UPDATED ASAP it does NOT fit our modern society!
