Today is 31th May 2021, May Bank Holiday weekend, I took a break from busy London life and went away on vacation to Portsmouth city.
Portsmouth is a port city and naval base on England’s south coast, mostly spread across Portsea Island. It’s known for its maritime heritage and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The dockyard is home to the interactive National Museum of the Royal Navy, the wooden warship HMS Victory, where Nelson died in the Battle of Trafalgar, and HMS Warrior 1860.

Thanks for posting this ! I was a student at the old Portsmouth college of art back in 1975 to 78. During Easter break used to work ar that showground. God has it changed. The guy who owned it was called Wally Shuflebottom who married the daughter of Billy Butlin I think. My best mate John Peter Smith was part of the travelling families living on the fairground site. Great to see that the sunshine is still strong and warming down there. Oh and my favorite weekend pursuit was to take the isle of Weight ferry over to Fishbourn, grab on go to the back of any truck making it's way up the backbreaking slope from the ferry on my bike. Then cycle the entire perimeter of the island until I reached Cows where I stayed over at Myrtle cottage on the Newport road. Yes Canada my new home has many great points, but nothing to match places like Southsea and the island.

I am from Tunisia my father visited Portsmouth in June 1970 while serving for the Tunisian navy few months before I was born. I also had the chance to visit Portsmouth in August 1997 and loved it

The only public hovercraft in the world as well we are great in portsmouth
I grew up in Portsmouth and left decades ago (I ran away from my family rather than my city). But Southsea beach was my happy place (together with the roller skating rink) and it is good to see that Southsea is still so pretty and well cared for. I loved sitting on the beach watching the hovercraft coming and going. And you get used to the pebbles - even if they do hurt your feet! 🤣🤣

I once lived there when in my twenties as an art student at the local College of art. Three best years of my life. For ten shillings I could take that hovercraft over to Ryde the main town on the isle of Weight and spend the weekend getting very drunk in all the wonderful pubs on the island. Burton's brewery is on the island. A Splendid realale. Great times.

You all should visit the beaches in Scotland . I know their waters can be chilli but they have very natural untouched beaches with pure white sands , especially the Hebrides . Absolutely stunning !

@@SuzyQ334My comment is because , Portsmouth is nice but very busy and touristy , where there are beaches in Scotland with pure white sand and very natural which I prefer . Everyone is different , some like city beaches and sone people like untouched natural beaches and I love nature .

The most beautiful beach in UK - you on something? The beach is rocks not sand. It is also very near Hayling Island, which has a sandy beach. There are lots of beautiful beaches on the east coast of the Isle of White, and try Woolacombe in the west country!
Having spent 20 years in SE Devon and Presently living SW Wales....Ports having the most beautiful beach in the UK!. I'm not convinced...Bournemouth, Poole is a lot better and not to far.
I sussed hit clickbait headline also. When I lived there back in 1975 to 78 the beach used to have big globs of oil washed up all over. Stupid me decided to wear a pair of white speedos one Sunday. They looked like a dalmatian after an hour. And yes Hayling island is totally different. Where you cross on the tiny free ferry over to Hayling and cycle right "as I used to do" you come accross some empty white sandy beaches. The sand was so fine that I had to walk and carry my bike on my shoulder. And the beaches near sandown on the isle of Weight are just as good. Good call there.

When attending the local art school there back in 1975 to 78 I played football with many of the young trainee sailors from Argentina. It was after I had emmigrated to Canada in 1981 that the unnessesarry war broke out between Britain and Argentina. I wonder to this day if any of those young Argentinia sailors lost their lives on the General Belgrano ! I hated Thatcher and her bloody war.

I used to go here all the time it was far from the most beautiful beach!?!? Swimming in the sea give u a rash lol. Stones everywhere wasps there was some perks like rollerblading across the pavement near the pyramid centre

Road traffic from Portsmouth to Brighton is awful - use trains to get about between these overpopulated coastal conurbation with no modern road network.

I grew up there. That beach is fine but to say it's the most beautiful in the UK? That is stretching reality... I lived a 10 minute walk away. As a kid I remember a dead body being pulled out of the water one evening when I was swimming with my cousin. Must have been about 12. Good times....

I lived in Pompei back in 1975 to 78 and loved the town. I was born in Lanarkshire Scotland, and my dad's brother , my uncle Henry used to be in the Royal navy during and after the war. When he and my dad died I decided to apply to the local art school. Got accepted and proceeded to spend the happiest three years of my life. I worked on that fairground during the Easter breaks. I was in charge of the big wheel with my best mate John Peter Smith who's family were living on the grounds. It was the people I loved in that town as much as the wonderful weather.
I always enjoy watching your videos, but beauty is in the eye of the behoholder. Personally I think there are many other beaches in the UK that are better than this one.

This is definitely not the most beautiful beach in 🇬🇧 in my opinion. Only because I have lived just off it on the other side of the common. Go to Cornwall or South Wales if you want the beauty . There it’s just commercial ships a tacky fun fair and dog shit 💩

The beach in Portsmouth is crap stony not ideal for kids who want to make sand castles
I assume this video was produced by Portsmouth Council Propaganda Unit, as the beach is awful, the food and drink outlets are ridiculously overpriced, true there are some historic things to see, but you will see them better on You tube than in reality.
The road network is chaotic, public transport grossly over priced and inneficient, rail network not much better.
The best Civil Architect Pompey ever had was Herman Goering.
