If you think AYA is sexy, I can't wait till you react to their mv's EGOTISTIC and DECALCOMAINE 🔥🔥The cool thing about MMM, other than their amazing talent, is they are women being women, not little girls trying to be sexy or grown women being cute. More Mamamoo please!
Once I calm down after the audio-visual overload of a new Mamamoo MV I check out the lyrics and try to figure out what they're really up to because there's always a method to their beagle madness. I start by asking obvious questions: Why the Arabian Nights concept? What's up with the bizarre characters played by 3 members that have nothing to do with the Arabian Nights and why doesn't Wheein play one too? What does all this have to do with a breakup song? Here are some of my conclusions: The love affair has been a delusion, a self-composed romance novel set in an exotic fantasy world of their own imagination, a castle built on the sand of sensuality and desires that seduced them like the snake charmer flute and drew a veil over their eyes and mind. Getting out of it means destroying their romantic illusions and it's going to be painful. The effort to regain control over their emotions feels as much of a life and death struggle to them as Scheherazade in the Arabian Nights, who tells the 1001 tales with cliffhanger endings every night to keep her husband from killing her in the morning. Perhaps Wheein is Aya's equivalent of Scheherazade and the other three role play characters from stories Scheherazade never got around to telling about women who found various violent ways of getting out of a toxic relationship and removing their lingering feelings: Moonbyul looking like she wandered in from the set of a Robin Hood movie, killing her feelings with an arrow. Hwasa painfully extracting her rotten feelings like a dominatrix dentist whacking away at them with a pickaxe. Solar's character took some research. Why does she combine an Asian ghost (long white dress and extremely long hair) with a unibrow? What's up with the MV's last scene with the dagger and bowl? Solar said the unibrow was a nod to Frida Kahlo. Frida lived most of her life in pain after a teenaged accident where her pelvis was impaled in a bus accident and that chronic pain was often reflected in her vivid, surreal paintings. Young female Asian ghosts are thought to be haunted by lost love. Put them together in Solar's wild, free associative imagination and you get the final scene where she ritually exorcizes her feelings by impaling the bowl of her tears with a dagger. Wheein is the only pacifist of the bunch. She manages to cut the strings tying her to the manipulative relationship (You got me jumping like a crazy clown) where her repressed, oppressed and depressed state is represented by heavy makeup, veils and hats. When she frees herself she magically lights up the room. Mamamoo songs about love, sex, passion and desire are usually very visceral and Aya is a great example. The MV symbolically tells the emotional journey of the song where they wake up from the seductive, snake charmer opium dream of misplaced love and experience a cathartic liberation represented by the Brazilian funk ending and celebratory dance.
Queens!!!! Absolutely love Aya! Wish they got to perform this more but it was released during Covid. Please react to Hwasa’s new song, I Love My Body!!!!
When they performed it at the 2020 MAMA awards it became one of my favourite live performances mostly because of the ending section being extended. Would reccomend (just search mamamoo aya mama 2020 should be a full performance video in results)
I need Roscoe to watch “Egotisic” ❤ Solar on a stripper pole, Hwasa face to face with a cheetah, Wheein stunning as always and Moonbyul eating her rap with no crumbs…🫠 my all time favorite video of theirs
I think you'd really enjoy watching the behind the scenes for AYA. Not only for the obvious reasons, but you also get to learn several of the inside jokes and references from them, like Valley Girl English, and "beef travel." 😂 I think it's MamamooTV Episodes 29-31. ...or, ya know, you could just watch all of the MamamooTV episodes. 😉🤪
Queens indeed. You did way better than I did the first time I watched Aya 😂 I kept pausing on my first watch cuz it was too much sexy on every frame lol 🫣 Hwasa has us all simping for her 🫠
Lol well for me it is Solar being looked for. Yeah this is a sexy video despite the fact it really is about getting rid of the guy. I suggest the AYA/Dingga Aggrabah version. It is live, starts with AYA and is live, the performance they put on is insane, starting with Thrones, which sort of matches the fact they are queens. And you get to see Dingga live as well.
