      The Oscars has completely lost it's appeal now that they have included all those insane Marxist requirements to even be nominated. It only applies to certain categories at the moment, but this is only the beginning. I think 2025 will be it's first iteration, where those quotas needs to be filled. Complete madness and destruction of art.

    Just got out of the theater from seeing it on 70MM! Definitely made me felt “grey” more than anything in a good way! It left me questioning the conflict and human morality! Especially at a day and age where lots of movies are black and white, I enjoyed how Nolan showed it in a lot of perspectives.

    Loved your Lord of the Rings Return of the King comparison! I'll never forget that ending. Especially right after Frodo gives his 'end of all things' speech and the entire screen fades to black. It was twenty years ago but I still remember the reaction in my theater. Everybody stood up and applauded but little did they know that it wasn't the end.

    Just got out of it. I absolutely loved it, but I can definitely see it not appealing to everyone. I was really into the science-heavy dialogue in the first half or so and the lead up to the test was a VERY good section, tense and riveting. Some people, I think, may be underwhelmed by the test scene, but I understand Nolan's choices here...if you were viewing a test, you would not see the "cool-looking" high-speed camera stuff, which is why he showed it in that intro part. You would see something like what was shown, bright light, fire, and a fading mushroom cloud. RDJ was wonderful, I really enjoyed his arc and was pleasantly surprised at the misdirect in there. Loved how loud the movie was, great score. I also had a similar emotional reaction, stunned is an apt word. I didn't really know what to say when it ended. Reminded me of The Aviator.

    It was okay. On the technical side the film is flawless, but I don’t think the story- riveting as it is in real life- was well told. Easily could’ve lost about 30-45 minutes. I wanted the film to focus more on Oppenheimer’s personal feelings towards his creation. Instead it spends a lot if time on political intrigue, which I found less interesting. Lots of needlessly and dull exposition in the middle of the film that could’ve been cut. Definitely not Nolan’s best film. That would be Inception, Dunkirk, or TDK. Better than Tenet at least!

    Not sure if Spielberg writes his scripts solely? ditto for Marty Scorsese. But within his generation, the M. Knight Shymalan's, Paul T. Anderson, Zach Snider etc. Nolan's gotta be by far the best Combo of writer/director. I think his last project Tenet was a narrative hiccup(couldn't get through it.) But I look forward to seeing it a/f I finish the Novel that inspired the project. Thanks

      I think Tenet was too complicated for it's own good. Timeline galore gone haywire. It's not a bad movie, but damn it requires SO much from the audience. The general movie goer isn't usually capable of such complex movies, hence why it didn't make huge numbers in box office.

    • @jomoanderson5596
      @jomoanderson5596 Рік тому

      @@fred6907 IMHO if you don’t have genuine character empathy,..if you can’t make discernment of whose bad,& whose good based not on exposition but substantive character development, you don’t have a good film.
      With Inception,..you genuinely empathize with Leo DiCaprio’s Dom. Nolan gets you to root for his desire to get back to his kids.
      A lot lower budgeted project, which is still one of my all time favorites is ‘The Lives of Others.’ Best FF of 2007.

    Tremendous movie but i did find all the jumps backwards and forwards in the timeline were a bit tedious to keep track of. Some fantastic performances by the actors involved. It also reminded us that American politics had no golden age of nobility back then, it seemed just as bad as now. In the Oppenheimer's party scene near the end, that Einstein explained was not actually for Oppenheimer, did we briefly see Timothy Dalton? I would have liked at least some narrative at the end to say what finally happened to him and how many in the project suffered from radiation. It was a surprise to me that it was so long and some other people I think who left before it finished to be somewhere else. I did also have a feeling a lot was cut out to get it down to 3 hr's because some bits needed just a tad more of a clue for you to follow properly and left you guessing. Be great if the release on disc offered an extended version. Some of the actors playing the scientists looked just a little too alike, it might have been ok but when the movie was tracking backwards and forwards in its timeline all the time, it was hard.
