A credo that many Hollywood producers should adopt!
No such thing today. These companies are even scraping the bottom of barrel for sequels, reboots, remakes and live actions.
If they were offering My Big Fat Greek Gyro I would be in line first day. Add My Big Fat Bottle of Ouzo and I would see it again.
All Greeks can relate to the closeness of the family and where their relatives came from and their struggles, this is why I could relate to this movie. Thoroughly enjoyed the music, landscape and flow of film. Made me want to go and find my own fathers village.
Sorry dear, Greeks cannot relate to doofus persons who clip their nails and hair at the table. That was shockingly offensive to say the least.

The film was excellent. The first and the second were excellent also. Fab feel good films. Such a change from some of the rubbish we are subjected to these days.

I saw it and although certainly no masterpiece, I enjoyed it for what it was. Plus I love Greece.
Ok maybe not a masterpiece but i enjoyed it. It was a sweet little non stressful visit with lovable familiar characters.
It never should have been a franchise....
How was Hollywood so good back then and so shit today ? 90% of what they put out today is from back then. Reboots, remakes, live actions and sequels.
Most of it goes back to the writer's strike of '08. That's when the nostalgia franchise model took off for studios, in response to minimizing the execs' and producers' reliance upon writers up to that point. It's cheaper and lazier in preproduction to scrape the bottom of the barrel for preexisting ideas, but nice and lucrative for the producers once the budget (and their upfront take) gets ballooned into the hundreds of millions because hey, it's a known property. And they get to control a branch of the production that was "giving them problems" by making it a revolving door of hack revisionists for McFranchise rather than a bunch of David Mamets with opinions on story structure and themes.

@@kyleshockley1573 Sounds about right. I wonder what is going to happen now after these strikes. Will quality go up, or will it drop lower than it already is. I mean they can’t even retell an already made story and franchise without ruining it and have it fail. That’s when you know it’s pretty bad. I mean they can’t even retell a successful story without messing it up. How are they going to tell original successful stories lol

It was funny and entertaining.
It never needed a 'MBFGW' trilogy.

Didn’t even know this was a thing. It makes me wonder if they were originally promised a show, and then they were made to cut it into a movie. Strangely The Full Monty was able to cross the line into streaming land 🤷🏻

I watched it yesterday with my girlfriend and her family. I usually talk about cinematography and editing with my girlfriend. She doesn’t care about it lol. Even she mentioned how terrible the editing is in this movie.
Maybe this movie should have had a subtitle?
I read the title and thought she got divorced twice and is giving wedding 3 a shot.
This would seem it indicate that there are 2 “My Big Fat Greek Divorce” movies out there.

Andrea Martin is a Canadian comic treasure along with Catherine O'Hara. I wonder why they keep making these film but apparently the budgets are quite low and don't need much box office to be profitable. So Nia Vardalos can keep the ethnic humor and schmaltz factory going.
Not all Italians think that the Godfather is good representation of Italian Americans as it romanticizes gangsters that prey on the community for their wealth. It is actually hard to find an Italian American film not dealing with gangsters and criminals since the 1930s. That is why the original Rocky is the great blue collar Italian American film of all time. Even my dad would shout at the screen for Rocky to put his hands up and not get so many shots to the face.
I have a special affinity with the first movie and good memories watching it many years ago with my then girlfriend and subsequently fiancée. And myself being Mediterranean and her Japanese, we discussed it excitingly and enthusiastically with her and some circles. The first movie is a true classic. And it’s a happy movie. My family is a lot like the Portokalos family, since we are of the Greek culture ourselves. And I have lived in America for six years.
I kind of enjoyed the second film but can’t say that I like it much.
Then I got curious with the third movie, and I’ll tell you how much it bored and depressed me from the very first scene:
I really, really hated it (I’m aware it’s a big word to use but that was exactly the case here, without exaggeration) and couldn’t even watch the whole thing so I turned it off with detest and a major lack of interest. As a result I will not count it as a sequel at all and instead pretend it wasn’t even made in the first place.
I will also say this about this third “project”:
It doesn’t even qualify as a movie in my book.
It was politicised, and made into some negative, overly dramatised, exaggerated, and redundantly nostalgia based Hollywood project like the rest of such projects. And knowing that Tom Hanks produced it, I hate it even more! Actually that’s one of the main reasons why I despise and detest it so much.
I’ll stick with the first movie which I absolutely love and which will always have a special place in my mind and memories. It was very well made and a very rich, hopeful, lighthearted, enjoyable, happy, enthusiastic movie with its own quality to it. AND I absolutely love the soundtracks too, as well as the characters and how the characters and the atmosphere is natural, rather than forced and “Hollywood”.
For those that haven’t yet seen the third “project”, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME! 🕰️ You can’t reverse time, can’t unsee or forget it, and it’s that bad!
If you are aware how Ricky Gervais very nicely exposed and mocked Hollywood, you will understand. Even after being exposed, mocked, ridiculed and put in its place by Gervais, Hollywood clowns and charlatans still shamelessly continue in their degenerative, arrogant, narcissistic, self indulgent, egotistical, tasteless, forced, tasteless, deliberately politicised, “woke” ways. And this third project is an example of just that.
Wait, what? They're making a third one? The second movie was already quite a stretch, the first one was very nice. If you're Greek, you may actually want to skip it as well. 😂

Poor reviewer. I saw both 1 and 2 before I saw 3. Loved 1 and 2 back in the day. I enjoyed 3! Reviewer should have watch 2 before 3. Movie was very sweet!
I thought the third one had a lot of sweet moments too but he is right it had too many storylines that were not flesh out and that's why the movie, along with the script, did not land
IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER WITHOUT THE MODERN AUDIENCE TOUCHES...THEY COULD HAVE DEVELOPED THE STORY MORE AND FOCUSED ON GUS AND HIS FRIENDSHIP IN THE OLD COUNTRY.

The non binary mayor legit yells all of her dialogue and is played like someone on the spectrum. The 2nd one had some charming moments but this one had none. Inexplicably this one is set only a year after the 2nd one despite 7 years having passed in real time and everyone has aged badly

@RobinMasters-fg3tn yeah the daughter is hiding the fact she's flunking her first year of college. My girlfriend and I turned to each in the theater and said at the same time "wait this is only the next summer" awful script choice

I swear this Wolk crap is killing me, I just watched the my name is autumn movie, and I enjoyed the movie, except for the stupid inclusion of a transgender character, now that I know, there is a nonbinary character in the movie then I definitely don’t have to spend money to see this, shame on you Hollywood
