    Love the video. Until today, I didn't know that "tisane" was pronounced "tee-sahn". I always thought it was pronounced "tih-sa-nee". So glad I learned!

    My favorite tissane blend is hibiscus and ginger with a touch of lemon or orange peel. Great hot or cold.

    Loving this channel today. I'm kind of a coffee snob but I'm finally embracing teas and all my research. But I have to say, a lot of info is tough to find, but this channel has made it very easy. Excellent.

    Came to this channel while researching “Tisane”. First heard of it from crime writer, Agatha Christie’s character Hercule Poirot, whose elite palate won’t allow him to drink anything else!🤣

    My favorite tisane so far is hibiscus + mint.

    I hate when people say that any plant teas aren't teas. That's like saying dandelion root coffee isn't coffee.

      Of course in daily conversation, it’s pretty standard to call things like peppermint and chamomile “tea”. But technically, the word tea doesn’t mean any beverage brewed in hot water; instead, it’s actually the common name for specific plants in the Camellia genus. Therefore, only beverages (like green tea, white tea, oolong tea, black tea, etc.) made from these Camellia plants are truly “tea”, while beverages made from any other plants (ie. ginger, chamomile, peppermint, rose) are not - these are more properly referred to as “tisanes” or “herbal infusions”. The goal of this video is ultimately just to provide insight, and highlight the fascinating fact that all “true teas” (with their vastly different flavors) come from the same plant. We certainly won’t reprimand anyone for calling chamomile a “tea”. 😂😉

      Well, they sell them in the supermarket alongside the teas, under the name “herbal tea”, in tea bags, from the same companies that make regular tea. So, every external signifier suggests it’s a tea. It’s easy to get wrong.

    Nice video, I'm trying to stop drinking coffee and I'd like to make my own tisanes to drink.

      Tisanes are a great caffeine free option! Tea is also a healthier alternative to coffee if you still want some caffeine.

      I’m in a similar boat. My cold weather drink of choice was hot cocoa. But I’ve had to cut down on sugar and carbs for medical reasons. The only thing that’s proven to be a decent replacement are the fruit tisanes from Celestial Seasonings (no offense to people who use or make other brands).

    Do i get it right? Tisanes are the same thing like Infusions?

    • @redblossomtea
      @redblossomtea  Рік тому

      Yes, that is correct. Tisane is the same as an "herbal infusion" or "herbal tea". It is any other plant brewed in hot water, like tea, but not from the Camellia sinensis plant.
