This is my first time watching this because a lot of people criticize this. I can't believe they would say that the vm is bad and prefer a simpler one or something like that. This is a real piece of art I hope you guys continue doing this. Don't let others pull you down because you stay true to yourselves.
Who wouldn't appreciate this kind of piece of art!? So ito pala ang interpretation ng band nila it's quite clever that they made an unexpected story since commonly ieexpect ng ibang listeners/viewers yung literal na lyrics ang gagawan ng MV but to surprise us using a symbolism? Oh my Asian heart is clapping rn. Kudos!🤗
It's quite funny, but in the Asian region, Geckos symbolize renewal, rebirth and fresh start. It's been 4 years since "Shiela" left and after 4 years he finally moved on. The song entices us about the meaning of happy in the "Happy ending". Which counterpart the words "sawakas" and "wakas" at the latter part of M/V.
And the rain symbolizes unending sadness. In short tumila ang ulan as a logical meaning na natapos na din lahat ng hardship, longing and pain ng protagonist.
I love the symbolism of this song from moving on, coping mechanism to acceptance of fate and tama yung isang comment na gecko symbolizes rebirth and a fresh start and for me, ulan symbolizes sadness which in this part 4 years ang ulan which is also the duration of his grieving period. For the rain to end means that he is happy and had the acceptance to move on. To start again. 🙌😉
I hope people should stop hating on this music video just because they think it is not fit for the beat of the song. The music video does not limit a piece by the way it suits the beat of the song. Music video is there for listeners to completely understand what the song wants to convey. Instead of hating, we should appreciate this video because it is not just full of symbolism but also entertaining! Not the typical OPM music video that shows the artist singing those lyrics.

I really appreciate the concept of the music video "Raining In Manila" by Lola Amour 1. City pop (from Japan) has never been appreciated until now. Musical elements of this song will definitely give you a hype. Highlight of the song would be the mid-section of the saxophone solo parts. 2. Lyrics suggest missing someone. Whether you are a fan of the weather or not, truly the rain gives you sentimental feelings, if not nostalgic of someone you miss and love. 3. Lastly the music video concept. It touches the concept of loneliness from someone's departing (being heartbroken, I myself is also vulnerable), the struggle and the "rain" that comes with it.... somehow it also touches mental health (and overall health I guess). The way the "gecko" defended the main character and that memorable caring gesture in the end suggests that sufferings end, and maybe hope will be on the way. Kudos to the band, this will be a long lasting favorite of mine. Hope I can personally congratulate you. Thank you for this song. ☔✨🎶

I really thought that this is just a hype song about rain, I listened to it every time but never really understood the lyrics, now I do. Not it reminds me of her. I came from a failed relationship, it was almost 2 yrs. It ended last December. She was originally from Pampanga but now resides in Pasay(basically Manila). I always wonder if it’s also raining in Manila when it’s raining here in Laguna. It’s been 10 months since we broke up. The rain hasn’t stopped yet, I hope it ends now. I love how this music video is something off the wall - a creative and eccentric approach to moving on and moving forward. Symbolisms are everywhere and pretty much open to different interpretations. The gecko represents the cycle of life and in Asian cultural contexts, it spiritually symbolizes regeneration, adaptability and inner strength. The incessant rain symbolizes dullness, the loss of joy or a deluge of sad and painful memories. But it also epitomizes spiritual cleansing. After the brawl which I think sums up the physical, emotional and spiritual torment he went through to deal with the loss, both the gecko and rain were gone - a perfect denoument for rebirth. Kudos for a job well done. National anthem ko na 'to since it came out. Mabuhay ang OPM.
Actually and ganda ng symbolism ng MV bukod sa inexecute nila with humor and weirdness. The MV is creative. It's like an abstract art na hindi lahat maiintindihan. Wala namang poverty porn dito for me. Ginamit lang na setting is a dystopian world parang sa Weathering With You. And ginamit yung ulan to symbolize the main character's agony, pain, loneliness, longing. While the gecko symbolizes the renewal, rebirth, the end of his suffering and a new beginning

Submerged Manila - we all know that Manila was slowly sinking below sea level according to different studies conducted by experts. We can correlate this element to the main character's feeling that he was overwhelmed by his sorrow after losing her. The whole setting of mv was engulfed in water, connoting the overwhelming sorrow and longingness that he feels. Social Isolation - the main character doesn't want to interact with everyone anymore because by doing so he might be afraid to lose the thought of her, hence choose to isolate himself from the community. He really dwells and still dwells with the memory of her in his heart instead of coming out and seeks others for help *which I'm currently doing :) * Judgemental People - yes, not all people are the same. Some people are just narrow-minded, they just judge someone else without knowing the whole situation. Perhaps we cannot blame the main character for why he isolate himself from the rest of the community. Sometimes they just don't give a f. Unusual Coping Mechanism - the main character somehow believes that she was reincarnated or her spirit was transferred onto the gecko species. My guess why gecko was the chosen species in the mv because gecko doesn't easily let go from the surface they have attached to which implies that the main character believes that she will never leave her side again. Then be became paranoid when he lost sight of the gecko and he was worried when someone informed him that the gecko was in possession of those thugs. I believe that the transfiguration of gecko into a fighting animal was just an illusion created by his mind to distract him in the brink of death but I believe that sadly, he passed away but he dies without any remorse because death gives him solace for the fact that he'll be reunited with the love of his life again, therefore putting the rain finally into a halt. Love this MV! This style really suits lola amour. If you've been in one of their gigs or tours you'll know they use warm colors a lot! (I noticed this when they performed at Fairview terraces) they like the moody warm reds, greens, and blues when performing! Hi Lola Amour! I just want to let you know that your youngest fan might be my 8 month old son with his favorite bed time song Raining in Manila. Whether or not the "bad" costume and questionable storyline were a nod to the Philippine's infamous low budget productions, I still love it and this whole video just gave me nostalgia 🥹
Glad this song finally have an official music video. This is the time that we acknowledge OPM songs.
i really like how unique the mv is. it is very manila vibes and the meaning of the video is he is finally moved on in the ending. rain means sorrow, and rain finally stops after four years.
I honestly cried to this music video 😭 it describes the state of my past feelings but the good thing is my rainy season has ended too and I’m much happier today ♥️ I will never hear this song the same way again 🥲 it will make me sad but in a fun way 😆
@@MrJbramirez It still stands. There are still "complex" opm songs and mvs out there, and has been there "pagkatapos ng matagal na panahon" Taking nothing away from the song (its really good), but theres this trend of saying "This is the only opm I listen to" "Im shocked this is from an opm band" Implying that opm is bad and in this case, non-complex. Just chasing clout from other NORMIES who think they have excellent music taste and are too good for opm.
sana narelease na tong kanta na to nung elementary days palang ako, ung tipong malakas ung ulan sa umaga at suspended ung klase tapos pakikinggan mo lang ung kantang to habang nanonood ng ulan at kumakain ng almusal😢😢

The newscast at the beginning that says it's been raining for more than a thousand days instantly reminded me of "The Long Rain," a 1950s short story by author Ray Bradbury - made me tear up a bit. Non-stop rain means misery, at least in literature, so it did make me think that that man on the boat was in a constant state of misery from the heavy rainfall. Suffering probably from grief, loneliness, and homesickness, given that there were photos near his bed but he was living alone. Shiela the gecko became his only companion. Notice how it was the only time he smiled again, like a shadow has been lifted from his face. This is why he had to come all the way to look for her when she disappeared. He finds her again, there was a bit of a fight, but I'm guessing they get reunited. And the rain ends. His misery ends. It shows suffering, grief, losing people we love or things we love. Pero wala tayo magagawa because that's life. We just have to move forward despite the rain, hoping that somewhere along the way we'll find a gecko or something. But then again, that's just me. I could be a hundred percent wrong, but that's my experience with the MV. Lola Amour shouldn't even apologize for it. Why would they be sorry for having created a masterpiece that makes people think? Love the MV, guys. Thanks, Lola Amour. THIS ONE LANDED.
the non-stop rain reminds me of weathering with you >< "tuko ba 'yan? b'at mukhang bibe?" HAHAHAHSHS so glad you're one of the musicians to introduce opm to the global stage, lola amour!!
Marami nang nauna sa kanila. But still loved this song nonetheless. Bihira na yung mga kantang pinoy na talagang tumatatak sakin and this is one of those really good songs that isn't just catchy but also has a deeper meaning if you just listen to it.
Well, in my opinion, they're not. Napaka ganda ng MV, coz if you'll really observe, it shows how resilient tayong mga pilipino, na kahit may bagyo kaya pa din natin ngumiti at gumawa ng paraan. ❤
People just find anything to complain about anything, out of nothing. Sorry for my taglish. If any of you have watched the MV. Ang mga tao sa video clearly werent glad or even celebrating in poverty and ng pag uulan ng 1'427 days (almost 3 years). Rather they found a way to go through rainy days in their own way. Even if its by drinking your head off, laughing with some buddies and stealing a lizard to feed your insecurity. Ang main focus ng video ay ang lalaki dealing with sa pagkamatay ng asawa niya (hinted from the candila sa harap ng mga larawan) by adopting a Tuko, that happens to be magical. Yes the music is upbeat. Yes there are happy campy themes. And yes, its set in an impoverished area during a flood from the result of a fictitious almost 3 years of rain. Unless all of them were smiling and looked so happy, glad or even celebrating in poverty during a flood like nothing is happening, or portrayed as uncomplicated, void of stress, pure, and moral. I dont see how this MV "romantisizes poverty" or "glorifies floods".
Interesting and nice song. You captured different interpretations on this video. Weird kapag you take it literally pero I see it as drowning in depression bec of loss of love one but finally it ended the "rain". Kudos sa creativity. Keep up the good works! ❤

Artistic representation by the band and of course additional flavor of the director.
Kaya pala ang panget.
Oh I though it was Gigil who created those commercials or is he the man behind Gigil?

This is definitely one those "out there" music videos, must've been really awesome to film it!
iniimagine ko nga yung behind the scenes at yung logistics ng pag shoot sa gitna ng "baha". very unique.
When I first heard this song, nagustuhan ko kaagad. Grabe! Ang galing ninyo!😍😍😍 God bless your band.
Real Music , Real Situations , Real People .. nothing to complain about this..
si psyduck yun true hero at tao for real par
What a gem, from the bass lines to the wind instruments... even the MV is out of the box. Kudos to this band for trying to look, feel, and sound different. 🙌
When you love hindi mahalaga kung ano o sino man siya, basta ang alam mo lang ay handa kang ipaglaban siya sa mga taong hahadlang sa inyo. Yung handa kang ipaglaban. That's what I realize while watching this MV.
Love this MV! This style really suits lola amour. If you've been in one of their gigs or tours you'll know they use warm colors a lot! (I noticed this when they performed at Fairview terraces) they like the moody warm reds, greens, and blues when performing! (Loved that when they were fighting psyduck lol) I think this Mv really incorporated all of the members taste in it. ❤
trhis is the most unpredictable music video I ever watched LMAO i like it!
on god bro😂😂😂
Not the MV I expected but definitely surpassed expectations. Eccentric and creative,, kinda reminds me of Parokya TBH (kaya siguro kinacancel sa twt lol) labyu Lola Amour!!!
"Palibutan niyo si Psyduck!" HAHAHAHHAHAHAH ANG CUTEE
Mas malapit kay Slowbro e.
Hi Lola Amour! I just want to let you know that your youngest fan might be my 8 month old son with his favorite bed time song Raining in Manila. He also enjoy a lot of your songs like Madali, dahan-dahan, and Fallen. I've been trying to endorse nursery rhymes but unfortunately he never liked it. Your band will always have a special place in my heart. ❤
My 1 year old son also loves the song. We listened to it almost everyday.
Same. But mine is 10 months now. 😊
Literal na, the answer to the question na kung mamahalin mo paba ako kahit maging butiki/tuko ako? Hahahaha
So nice. Love the concept ❤❤❤ and super love the song 🎉
Whether or not the "bad" costume and questionable storyline were a nod to the Philippine's infamous low budget productions, I still love it and this whole video just gave me nostalgia 🥹
Ikr
The song and mv is very symbolic 😣❤️ sobrang ganda. One of the master pieces of lola amour
Glad this song finally have an official music video. Got to listen to this after going back to Philippines this summer after 15 years of being away and finally coming back to my childhood home and seeing all my family once again. This song has touched so many emotions within me. Thanks Lola amour for this wonderful music 🇵🇭❤ 🇬🇧 0:06

. . . . dito lng nagustuhan ko yung part kaso konti lng exposure 1:10
@@acer609 Ayos naman ah, walang kaso kaso lol.
This is the time that we acknowledge OPM songs.
i really like how unique the mv is. it is very manila vibes and the meaning of the video is he is finally moved on in the ending. rain means sorrow, and rain finally stops after four years.
I honestly cried to this music video 😭 it describes the state of my past feelings but the good thing is my rainy season has ended too and I’m much happier today ♥️ I will never hear this song the same way again 🥲 it will make me sad but in a fun way 😆
🤣 There has always been good OPM. Normies like you just dont know where to look.
@@Honcho_07 also whats complex about this song?
Aw boss try mo yosha
@@MrJbramirez It still stands. There are still "complex" opm songs and mvs out there, and has been there "pagkatapos ng matagal na panahon"
Taking nothing away from the song (its really good), but theres this trend of saying "This is the only opm I listen to" "Im shocked this is from an opm band" Implying that opm is bad and in this case, non-complex. Just chasing clout from other NORMIES who think they have excellent music taste and are too good for opm.
ganda kaya ng MV may deeper meaning
pero yung mga WOKE sa TWITTER
ang sasabin nila INSENSTIVE daw ahahha
MORE POWER LOLA!
🙂 10 yrs +++++ from now this will still sound good. Classic na. Salamat sa musika!
sana narelease na tong kanta na to nung elementary days palang ako, ung tipong malakas ung ulan sa umaga at suspended ung klase tapos pakikinggan mo lang ung kantang to habang nanonood ng ulan at kumakain ng almusal😢😢
5:08 "palibutan nyo si psyduck" AHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH LOLA AMOUR'S HUMOR IS SO GOOFYYYYY AND I LOVE ITT❤❤
"tuko ba 'yan? Ba't mukhang bibe?"😆
its still gonna rain in manila,
dahil alm kong di na sya babalik..
tuko is his love for her.
rain him crying everday for 4 years
tuko transforming to a new being is his self love..
his old weak self dying..
rain stops..
he finally moves on..
sawakas, wakas ❤
im impressed 🎉❤
THIS ONE LANDED.
ito yong comment na hinahanap ko🤩
Thank you so much for this Lola Amourr, don't mind all the backlash, more people realize the artistic appeal of your creation. I hope you make more!
the non-stop rain reminds me of weathering with you >< "tuko ba 'yan? b'at mukhang bibe?" HAHAHAHSHS so glad you're one of the musicians to introduce opm to the global stage, lola amour!!
Marami nang nauna sa kanila. But still loved this song nonetheless. Bihira na yung mga kantang pinoy na talagang tumatatak sakin and this is one of those really good songs that isn't just catchy but also has a deeper meaning if you just listen to it.
@@marcflores3503 kaya nga po "one of"
Couple na magkahawak kamay sa ulan is so stereotypes in every music video. Buti na lang this concept is something new. Fresh and out of the box. 😊
Well, in my opinion, they're not.
Napaka ganda ng MV, coz if you'll really observe, it shows how resilient tayong mga pilipino, na kahit may bagyo kaya pa din natin ngumiti at gumawa ng paraan. ❤
Explaination video pls HAHAHAHAHAHA love you guys!! Kudos
LEche!

10/10 plot and visuals
Wow, I did not see that coming. HAHAHAHAH.
Galing pa rin, kudos to everyone. 💪
Why would they criticise this? There is substance and art! Ang ganda ng kanta and support OPM!
RAINING IN MANILA IS A MASTER PIECE PERIOD 🖤
Weathering with You ang peg ✨ "I want you more than blue sky" 😢
For him Sheila is the prettiest creature he ever saw because it’s a one of a kind gecko . It’s a Mona Lizard.

when I watched your song explanation about this, it made me like this song, coz it is about friendship, I also shared it before to my friends...
lmao people on twitter really be hating on this MV immediately coz of the teaser when they obviously haven't watched the actual MV. I don't see where the so called poverty/resilience p*rn they are citing is here.
This songs is immortal, it will never die. It's a masterpiece!❤❤
Angas ng MV, malalim at talagang matalinhaga! You never Failed to impress us Lola Amour!!!
Hayaan niyo ung mga basher. Half of them were Gen Z's and Boomer. Na lahat pinupuna. Khit ndi dapat problemahin pino problema. Continue to make your craft and honed it. OPM is back. And I'am indeed loving it. I'm Millenials.

I know you might be Gen Z. Pero ndi ikaw ung point ko. Example nlng ung kay Awra. @@LeuBlue I know boomers does that too. Regardless of what they say here in the comment section. I think it’s pretty fresh that the MV went to this direction.

I don't find the mv bad cause of the concept of it but if I'm being honest I expect raining in manila would be in a city, going out for a coffee shop, handling some breakup that he/she is trying to accept idk that's how i Invision it haha but Lola Author still one of the best music producer i know keep breaking records ❤
