I shot film for forty years with mainly Nikon SLRs, then went the digital route in 2008. In 2021 for my 65th birthday I purchased a new MP also in BP and a couple lenses. As a left eye shooter wearing glasses there is a steep learning curve with the rangefinder and my hit rate is pretty low but I love the Leica and it gets me out of the house. I use a digital camera for some things but if the film in the Leica pairs ok with the weather, amount of daylight, etc. I grab the Leica... Keep shooting the MP and enjoy - but I agree with the steel rim if it doesn't work for you....let it go.
Congratulations on the MP. I find myself reaching for this when I travel, instead of digital, despite the limitations in low light. Despite my extremely low “keeper” rate, whenever I get a good shot, it looks REALLY good.
Using Steel Rim reissue requires skills, experience & knowledge... but once you get that... it became fantastic lens... compared to my 35lux, APO35... this is why I use LEICA period.. (^^)
That lens isn't sharp at all as you claim. It's actually meant to create a glowly type look, a look from the 60's or 70's (hence the reissue). It's the exact opposite of sharp.
Hold on, it is a sharp lens, it’s just low contrast. I’ve have this lens and I can assure you that at f5.6 it is as sharp as you’d need it. Even at f2 it is sharp enough.
Keep at it. And kudos for the patience. I’ve got a nice DSLR, but I honestly rarely use it. The iPhone is good enough 95% of the time and the convenience of tweaking and sharing immediately seal the deal. Definitely not as cool as a Leica tho.
Keep going with film, thank you for the review !
Will do!
Thx for the vid, after purchasing the new M6, I finally developed my first roll myself, pretty satisfying….

Bet you’ll miss it and buy it back again in the future. The FLE is amazing but too cumbersome on an M body for me.
