Watched this around 2019 when I was just starting in Karate and I stopped when pandemic came in so I forgot how to do it, but I just reenrolled myself lately and trying to learn again. Your voice was still familiar to me most especially the boom on the last one. So I somehow managed to find this video again. Thank you!
Geez, 32 years doing martial arts, tying my belts like the first two and still the last two were bangers. We all gotta learn something new from time to time. Godspeed good sir. Mira Boricua, buena canción al final. Also got me twice 🤣🤣🤣 Tang Soo!!!
As much chef is death, if he stops to learn and overestimate his acquired skils, so is the martial artists. Too much dogmatisms, too much tradicionalism too muhh of any extreme lead to failure.
The last time I watched this I was a plain white belt. Now I’ve at least earned Rhokokyu (green stripe) in karate. Thank you for helping me freshen back up on how to tie the belt (covid has interfered with inside classes).
I just came across your vid. Received my black belt years ago (shotokan) and we all used the first version without the "ok" symbol. Definitely inspired to get back to training after a few decade hiatus.
Until your video, I was a bit frustrated attempting to tie the belt correctly on a squirmy kiddo. Watching you made me relax enough to get it done! And guess what! I did it, I did it, I did it!!!! Plus, you made me smile through the whole video and I laughed at the end! Thank You! 😂
Interesting video. I teach my students the first tie minus the OK trick for smoothing it out. Once they receive their black belt, I explain tie number two due to the fact that the cross in the back is much more noticeable and uncomfortable with the thicker belt. I have never seen the third or forth methods before. Will have to give them a try. Thanks.
Thank you for watching, I hope you enjoyed it. In the beginning we teach the younger students to just tie their belt as best as they can. When they get older then we teach them aesthetics. We actually give our students a patch if they are able to tie it on their own, gives them good incentive to practice and be self sufficient.
I always see the third but without smoothing it out, they have the crossover fold in the back... and then told me the way I do it (#2) is for children.
I do it completely different to the 4 ways here, but it starts similar to the third way, ends the same way and the middle point is about the same as the first. I grab one end of the belt and from my hip, I drop the tip to my knee. - then wrap the rest of the belt around my waist until both ends are of similar length when holding it out (normally just twice). After that it ends the exact same way as the first. Probably a unique one, but I've been doing it like that for years.
Great explanation and I personally have been using method no.2 since the 80s but your method no.4 is new to me and I will try it. Thank you for sharing. Oss
