I just now saw this film- they have it on Netflix On Demand... it was great! I can't believe this never crossed my path before. I thought I'd seen pretty much every period film on the planet. It had a great soundtrack too. Highly recommended.
Would it not have been awesome if Giles and Grace finally got together ? This would have been absolute magic . But Hardy ...he is a realistic romantic who reminds us that things do not always go right. This is after all , an imperfect world which can be very unfair . I just loved the theme for its realism. And the fact that Marty Stout was able to find solace even when Giles was gone forever, gave much hope at the end . Literature at its ultimate finest.
That guy has one of those "heartbreaker" smiles. I sure hope he doesn't smile too often in real life or their or lots of broken hearted women out there tonight!
