What about purple and gold? How to make it work? Your style is impecable i want to incoporate it in a game Saints Row 2. Customisation is a big part of that game.
Bought three pairs 5 years ago after first hearing from them from you. They still look awesome and hold up well! Personally however, I think they are a bit too "clunky" for suits, but for every other outfit I can only recommend them.
About black, I actually wear black quite frequently. Part of the reason is because I'm Indian. I have darker skin so having an EVEN darker color helps bring out the color of my skin. On the other hand, if I wear white, my skin is perceived as darker. With brown skin like mine, the goal is to appear as LIGHT as possible so darker colors really work best in my case
Ironically, I do just the opposite I live in neutral colors. We may be close the the same shade. I am Jamaican and Chinese, alot of people I meet think I am from North Africa.
Great presentation. One thing to note, your demeanor is the main factor in making or breaking any color styles. Whether you're being creative or daring or super conventional, the style needs the confident attitude to make it work.
@@phattjohnson Personally, one of the main reasons I wear all black clothes is the ease of mind when doing laundry, sorting things or mashing outfits together. But it has one benefit, it’s that I tend to always wear colorful shoes, so it brings attention and a unique touch. I also have a pretty intimidating physique ( I look like Niko Bellic in GTA 4, with more bags under the eyes), and an angry “resting face”. So it’s really fun to see people be surprised when an athletic guy dressed in all black with a face like that ends up being super friendly.
I agree with every one of those potential perceptions. As someone who works in the mental health field, I've personally witnessed the incredible effects that colours can have on cognitive frames. Most of the effects are superconscious and can be mediated by behaviour; but in the right combination, it's really quite remarkable what they can do in a social setting. Never underestimate the power of accents, shades and contrast!
@@MrNicoJac Antonio mentioned a loose association between black and aggression, but if you accent the black with red (it's no coincidence that it's used on muscle cars), you can actually increase aggressive compulsions by attracting more attention to the contrast. Perhaps the effect is in response to the likeness of bulging arteries in a predator? I've found the reverse to be true with light blue accents. Flat dark greys don't do well when working with depression, but if you add a yellow accent, even a gold watch band, it can significantly curb the effect. And since white reflects all colours, I've found it to be the best around those in need of physical healing. A leaf-green works well too, but accented with white or gold. Hope that helps!
I have other colors, but a large part of my clothing is either Black or Blue. They are my two favorite colors. If I don't own stuff in black, I'll get disowned. I'm Italian. We wear a lot of black. It is what it is. 🙂
I own 1 black suit and it is a 3 piece for Black Tie events. Most of my suits are a lighter Blue and some Browns. Navy and Charcoal are the staples and 2 light grey. So many of my shirts and ties have the accent colours.
That's actually a very interesting idea! Maybe even a short series about what different mafias from around the world wear and how it affects their image
@Babom_Official for sure with Yakuza, they have a specific look that stands out in japan, most likely to install fear and respect in the population. In the mafia movies similar idea. Could go down a huge rabbit hole with this topic.
Red, white, BLACK, and grey have been the bulk of my wardrobe ever since I Was around 15. Being a bigger guy most of my life I have always leaned toward black and white with warm tones to help me wear my weight a little easier. Ever since getting into bodybuilding over a year ago, I have been experimenting with other colors, primarily more earth tones since change can be difficult and I still always find myself gravitating towards monochrome and reds again and again. Though this year, getting into more motorsports, British racing green has grabbed my attention is is making me really branch out.
I wear a black suit. I'll even wear a black tie. Sometimes I add either a red shirt or a red tie. I don't worry about being monochromatic with my wardrobe. I love wearing a lot of black.
Black is the main color in my wardrobe. I don't have a black suit anymore, but most of my shirts are black. It makes me feel calm, cool and collected. An all black outfit just looks so clean and put together. Purple is my favorite color, and I am trying to bring more of it into my wardrobe. It's a blend of red and blue, so I perceive it as having traits of both. It stands out without being too bright.
Another great video. Thanks Antonio. I usually tend to wear a black suit jacket with different colored slacks and shirt, but on occasion I have been wearing a black shirt. I'm a little heavy right now and it tends to hide the gut a while until I can get it under control. For job interviews, I've found a dark grey suit, white shirt and red tie & complementing pocket square are the best combination. I've shared this with my brother and it's had good effect for him. I do have one interesting tidbit about regional issues. I'm originally from Peru and business attire over there tends to be very subdued. Mostly grey suit and white shirt with little or no embellishment. This is mostly because of crime. Anyone who seems too flashy or is seen wearing conspicuous name brands will be targeted so most people try to blend it. It's sad it's come to that but it literally has affected the way people were dressing. One other thing about purple, at some point in the Roman empire, it became illegal to wear purple unless you were the Emperor or part of the royal family. This had the effect of making purple a royal color in the following centuries throughout Europe.
Blues, browns, grays, and olive greens for me. Hardly any black, but (off) whites are well represented. I also like burgundy, as it's very versatile. I have some brown chukka's with burgundy tones, depending on the light, and I have an Aero leather jacket on order in a burgundy like color. I expect that to pair great with blue and olive.
When i was young i lean towards black, but recently kind of like olive green. Its quite calming for me and also feel more confident, also work well with leather brown. I 90% of the time wear denim on the light blue side and despite being 6,6 people seams to be more open to me so it seams you really know what you talking about. I also like red. Have painted my room red and have some t-shirts, and ties only red.
I usually wear all-black. like a devil, black sneakers, black jeans, black t-shirts (double as undershirt), black dress shirts, grey ties sometimes charcoal grey blazer, navy blue blazer or black blazer. I oftenly just go for black jeans, black formal shirt with short sleevev and sneakers.. but yea, i can definietly tell the clothes you pick, influence how people view you.
My wardrobe is quite literally 90% BLACK. I have some dark olive greens, deep blues, and greys as additional options, but my base color is lack. I just don't think I look as well in any other color. Now, I do have a few specific outfits that are much more vibrant (Whites, teals, purples, etc), but those are reserved for special occasions. My everyday clothing is a Black V-neck t-shirt and black jeans, with maybe a red plaid overcoat. I am white with very rosy undertones and dark brown hair, it just seems I can never find clothing that compliments anything about me other than black.
I'm very classic in terms of colours. My go to are the color black, white and dark blue. I have a suit in blue combined with a white shirt. My favourite above all is all black. Great video keep it up.
I appreciated your support & endorsement of Anson Belt & Buckle. Thanks to your promo discount, I ordered 3 straps & 3 buckles. Very pleased with the products quality and customer service. Just received a $20 discount so another Anson belt will soon be in my collection.
Black, olive green and pink are my uniform, mostly black and pink or a combination thereof, Black mostly for the slimming effect, but I love that black can be dressed up or down
EXTREMELY nice and informative video!!! Made me look into my closet, and see the feelings and emotions I have wearing colors. Also, it made me take a look at the way people perceive my because of color. Great job!
Black definitely adds power, elegance and mystery. I have brown hair and blue eyes so I wear it sparingly, mostly my tux and a couple of track suits. But when you need to exude absolute control, black is where it's at! It, like grey and white aren't really a colour, more of a shade. Blue and tan/brown are my go to. Over 50%. Red as an accent is right on. I use yellow as an accent or a shirt with a tan suit in summer. Great video Antonio!
I love color red, burgundy second is brown all shade of brown i love it, third would be olive green. In the last year i became a fan of navy blue is a nice color.
I wore probably 70% black in my late 20s. Works well with my dark hair pale skin contrast (and I might've been a bit gothy). Then my hippy ex told me black was lazy - too easy to match to anything. She's right. And I like a challenge. Now I love adding in rich colours in patterns of my shirts. Deep purples and rusty reds work great with my "winter" tones. And brown is hard to get wrong, despite it not matching winter tone at all. Brown is not just for leather.
For a very long time I've been wearing the black (mono black), but recently I started to give splashes of gray, green, blue and white. For example: Black boots (martens), slim straight jeans, black leather jacket, and the t shirt will be of one of those colours. But back then it was a black t-shirt or a t-shirt of a metal bands.
When it comes to color I find denim jackets to be the sweet spot for most styles, especially red or any color. Whatever the color you don't want to get the loud version of it. For red go with a dark red burgundy, maroon, or rust.
Some of us in Texas are highly allergic to orange and are naturally drawn to the beautiful shades of maroon… But we can and should be equally proud of our preferred color palettes.
My wardrobe is made up of mainly Black, Navy Blue, White, Light Blue along with sprinkles of Pink, Tan, Steel Blue, Red, and Yellow that give it some additional spice. However, I'm currently in the middle of completely rebuilding my wardrobe, and along with my staple colours of Black, Navy Blue, White and Light Blue I'll be adding Charcoal Grey, Cream, Midnight Blue, Camel, Indigo as well as some more Pink, Tan, Steel Blue and Red to my wardrobe to give it more variety and elegance, when expressing my eternal love for classic Old Money menswear fashion. And yes, I own a Bespoke Tailored Black suit the first of 12 Bespoke suits that I plan on getting made in four different colours, as I love wearing suits as it makes me feel and look good in equal measure. Great video, as always, Antonio.
I have a lot of black clothes. Going to be wearing it a lot this year with the color purple. I also am trying to wear more pink items. Saw a recent study that found that men who wear pink get paid more on average than people who don't. Could be like you said, that their seen as more confident or more sympathetic
I want to bring more colour. But I have hard time understanding how to make the outfit all together. To not look like clown as he said. What colours fit with orange or red for example. I'm guessing orange and red goes together with white or black only.
Can you do a video on off white? Cream, ivory, beige, stone, sail, muslin and coconut? And if you could do a few outfits mixing all the shades together.
All of my polo shirts are black, I like the look and the feeling of strength it exudes. My suits are all dark blue except one which is black. I pull out the black suit and red tie with my black stone masons ring on my index finger when I want to say "I am the one in charge"
I definitely agree with the black suit, when I went full time as a magician that was the first item I bought myself, a full black out suit, for the exact reason you said, it makes people perceive me as more enigmatic! So in my line of work, yea, I wear it a lot!
Gotta say... I'm a "winter" in terms of tone. So I've styled as such... Wardrobe is 25% black, 25% white, 15% grey, 5% navy, 10% creme/khaki 10% reds, 5% purple, and the remainder various pieces.
My wardrobe at the moment has mostly neutrals of black, gray, white, tans, and the spared usage of color. My mentality is that my wardrobe is almost entirely interchangeable because of how anything can go together if I'm confident enough, with pieces that are timeless and fit me well. I have ideas for how to elevate it with more navy blue, charcoal gray, and some form fitting sweaters with patterns.
For suits, I go for Black and Charcoal For office long sleeves shirts, I go for light blue, royal blue, black, gray and white For cotton collared shirts, I go for Red, Navy Blue, Brown, White and Black
I am blonde. Seasonal color analysis classified me as a spring. I never wear black. Navy blue works for me, especially trousers. I contrast that with a cream or off white shirt, or sweater. Indigo, I like. That blue/black navy blazer is a little to dark for me but I do have two of them. One has brass buttons. I like a medium blue linen or cream blazer. Tan chinos and wool trousers are great. For summer, I like linen shirts in blue, yellow, white. I have a few coral/pink items but I wear them the least.
There’s a lot of warmer colours in my wardrobe - mainly browns and greens, especially since I wear a lot of tweed. During autumn, I try to include a bit of orange, and I tend to save crisp white for evening wear. Purple is one of my favourite colours. Since I have blue eyes and my hair is increasingly silver, I draw a lot of compliments when I wear blue or grey, though!
Concept works with with food service logos also. There’s a reason red/blue/orange/white are used in various combinations in their logos….induces hunger
Since I started being a little more style conscious, I've found myself gravitating toward browns and greys more than anything else. I do really like olive green but it seems to be a more rare colour in brick and mortar stores, anyway
I wear black alot, infact it is my defacto color, as a black man with black hair, black simply makes me elegant and sleek. Now i love me a black suit with pink shit, i get so many compliments for that combo, the pink shirt balances everything out
This is great and all but you REALLY need to cover the positive aspects AND the negative ones - there are downsides for each colour particularly when making a presentation or attempting to sway an audience. I typically wear dark suits (charcoal grey is my lightest) and exclusively white shirts, the only variation I have is the neck tie (no square). Variation of the colour helped with different types of authoritative projection - red can incline towards combativeness, yellow towards more intellectual authority, blue for compliance and cooperation. There are psychological downsides of each of the colours you outline which really need to be covered - also I'd cover gold and silver in more detail along with gunmetal and brass. Those can change an outfit remarkably, gold risks dating you or looking too "try hard' if it's not restrained; brass invariably makes things casual, gunmetal varies a lot with culture, silver is currently more socially neutral but in the past it was associated with lower echelon people. If you could expand this to include upside/downside and perhaps include potential best-case scenarios for use; for example the use of pink accents may suit a female audience more than a male one as an empathy signal. Cultural use is also important - it's fine to focus on a US context here as you can't cover everything but mentions of other markets may be useful, especially making someone aware of what it could mean going elsewhere (e.g. where white is a colour of mourning). There are some strange political implications too - in the US red means Republican where blue means Democrat, this left-right attribution is reversed in most other places such as the UK or Australia, NZ, etc. possibly due to the association of red with Soviet propaganda. Prior to that maps with the British Empire highlighted always did so in red - yet our passports are now dark blue, something they banged on about after Brexit.
Great video! Personally blue is my favorite color by far. But i wear black almost daily. I only have a black suit cause its versatile and for daily wear I wear black on the top (shirts, sweatshirts, jackets) the most cause usually I try to have cool shoes that add color or accent the top
Blue jeans and dark fitting shirt or t-shirt plus black high end shoes, and a nice watch. Add fitting dark or navy blue coat or jacket as needed, and maybe a bit of a musky/manly fragrance. 90% of the time what else do you need?
Where did you get that white trench coach? I have been trying to find it for a long time? It looks amazing. I like your channel, my style has been elevated and always get compliments when I go out.
I have to consciously pick colors other than black to add diversity to my style. I feel comfortable in black because of that sense of power and confidance and growing up it was my color of choice because it was like a psychological armor but I really have to break out of it because when I overdo it I just look like Steve Jobs or something
You also need to consider your skin tone colour, I am light summer, so I look terrible in black and white. I like marl grey, sky blue, pink and terracotta.
I have a pair of black trousers, jeans and a black suit. The jeans are a formal wear for when I need them as are the trousers reserved for more formal occasions when I don’t want to overdress with a suit. I have a couple of pairs of black shoes which are worn with the trousers or suit. I do also have a pair of black Dr Martens boots but I’ve not been without a pair of them since I was 14 (I’m now 41 btw). I’ve got a dark navy suit which is worn when I attend weddings, christenings or other such occasions. I have a pair of red chinos which I haven’t worn in many years if they still fit, a pair of beige chinos but I don’t have any charcoal grey clothes anymore which I may have to rectify. Shirt wise I have various checked patterns for casual wear with my jeans, various white long and short sleeve, striped shirts with a red or blue pinstripe on a white cotton, various blue shorts dark/light with long and short sleeve, one long sleeve light pink shirt and some various patterned shirts. I’m usually careful about how bright a colour I wear because I’m 6’6” and 17 stone so I don’t really like drawing to much attention to myself.
Wow I didn't think you were going to cover purple or orange but you did. Is truly one of your best videos yet! Btw what your thoughts on versace watches?
My wardrobe is 80% BLACK and BLUE! I consistently gravitate to black and blue. Most bright colors that I have were gifts. I don't wear pastels because it feels juvenile.
As a man I also wear dresses. My favorite color for my clothes is navy followed by dark red. When I wear a man's coat and tie outfit I wear a black jacket and trousers. And I have 3 black dresses. Almost all of my shoes and sandals are black
I had a personal shopper from Hall's Kansas City tell me what colors to wear when I was mobilized there. I wore black or white as a uniform all day. Sandy red and fair with hazel eyes; my favorite menswear staff has the same coloring. He won't sell me a black suit. I stick to blue or grey. My bright colors, basically the southern sportswear colors, are for me. I can't do fall colors well; I have black golf shirts, but they all have pink or red in the pattern. Hall's calls me bright or clear spring. I tend to steer clear of the colors I don't wear well and have a lot of true green, violets, navy, peacock blue, pink, and white, no earth tones. A little red.
As a classical musician, I've always had a black suit and spare shirts and slacks. I have black jeans and t-shirts as they combine well with other articles of clothing that are colored. I've been a fan of olive green ever since I wore such a suit in an opera and the costumer gifted it to me. I have red and maroon shirts but I rarely wear them. Most of the time it is when I work multi-day events just so I have a different colored shirt. I like my purple shirt. I bought a purple tux for cosplay and I've worn it to a few flashier events and gotten compliments.

You might want to give olive green a try. I think you'll find it less contrasting, and it will highlight the brown in your skin.

Anson belts are 🔥I have 6 different straps and they definitely take care of you like family ❤️
Thank you for sharing this. This is very helpful
Black leather jacket, black polo or t shirt, black/cigarette jeans, black suede/leather chelseas, chukkas, lace up. killer combo for me
Some of us in Texas are highly allergic to orange and are naturally drawn to the beautiful shades of maroon… But we can and should be equally proud of our preferred color palettes.
Skin tone and Seasons, that best controls what colours look good on you, the basic test is can you wear Silver or Gold jewellery.
Blue is the one for me, I find it easy to pull off.
My wardrobe; Brown makes up about 50%; along with light blue 45% and black, 5%.😁
I personally love black on black jeans and shirts or sport coats etc
For suits, I go for Black and Charcoal
For office long sleeves shirts, I go for light blue, royal blue, black, gray and white
For cotton collared shirts, I go for Red, Navy Blue, Brown, White and Black
What about dark/emerald green, particularly in suits?
I am blonde. Seasonal color analysis classified me as a spring. I never wear black. Navy blue works for me, especially trousers. I contrast that with a cream or off white shirt, or sweater. Indigo, I like. That blue/black navy blazer is a little to dark for me but I do have two of them. One has brass buttons. I like a medium blue linen or cream blazer. Tan chinos and wool trousers are great. For summer, I like linen shirts in blue, yellow, white. I have a few coral/pink items but I wear them the least.
I favour a cerise doublet with periwinkle hose
There’s a lot of warmer colours in my wardrobe - mainly browns and greens, especially since I wear a lot of tweed. During autumn, I try to include a bit of orange, and I tend to save crisp white for evening wear. Purple is one of my favourite colours. Since I have blue eyes and my hair is increasingly silver, I draw a lot of compliments when I wear blue or grey, though!
Orange was Frank Sinatra's favorite color.
Love facts like these❤❤❤
Keep it up
I just ordered a custom black suit
This video had some good info right there... 👌🏻
As a Texas Aggie, let's keep orange away from the streets! Haha, great content!
Concept works with with food service logos also.
There’s a reason red/blue/orange/white are used in various combinations in their logos….induces hunger
Olive green, brown and light blue dominate my wardrobe with navy being present in the form of denim jeans
Since I started being a little more style conscious, I've found myself gravitating toward browns and greys more than anything else. I do really like olive green but it seems to be a more rare colour in brick and mortar stores, anyway
Thanks for this! I don't know if this a response for my 'joker laugh' comment from you previous video. lol. but thanks again for the color vid :)
Black jeans i always go for. Allows me to be more bold with either a jacket or tshirt choice.
Cheers Antonio, I really enjoyed this video. Very informative & well presented.
I wear black alot, infact it is my defacto color, as a black man with black hair, black simply makes me elegant and sleek. Now i love me a black suit with pink shit, i get so many compliments for that combo, the pink shirt balances everything out
i wear all black, almost all the time. Occasionally a charcoal gray shirt under a black jacket. but mostly all black
I found this very helpful thank you so much 🤝🏽
I could see myself in a pair of navy blue ot green chinos.
I always wear dark clothing, black if possible Haven't watched the video. Let's see what it says.
I like black t-shirts and shorts (not together though). I don't really wear white. I gravitate towards grey, blue and black clothing.
Thanks, Great Sharing. Is beige color same effect as brown color ?
Nice belts ...!
Great stuff
Great video. Love it.
The link that you pointed to for the next video was not showing up on the screen…fyi
Where did you get that white trench coach? I have been trying to find it for a long time? It looks amazing. I like your channel, my style has been elevated and always get compliments when I go out.
I for one like using some colors on my shirts, some muted greys or reds. BTW I think advices for wedding suits would make for a neat video 😬
Great idea!!
By grey I mean green ofc 😑
Great video!
Thank you!
Black makes up probably 40% of my wardrobe. Followed by Navy blue/Dark Brown/Charcoal Grey. Interesting.
I have to consciously pick colors other than black to add diversity to my style. I feel comfortable in black because of that sense of power and confidance and growing up it was my color of choice because it was like a psychological armor but I really have to break out of it because when I overdo it I just look like Steve Jobs or something
Thank you so much ❤️
You’re welcome 😊
Almost all of my shoes and sandals are black
. Black t-shirts are my everyday choice. I probably wear black 75% of the time between t-shirts and jeans
