Try somelong tube headers dumping into 2.5" true duals with H pipe and Foxbody 5.0 mufflers leading to 3" tips out the back . That's what I built on my 2003 crewcab 4x4 s10 and it sounds freakin awesome! Also made big improvement on power and fuel economy
So what exactly is your setup? I'm interested in doing this to mine. What straight pipe are you using and what did you take out/put in? Also, did you have to relocate any piping?
+Michel Linschoten That'll make it loud in the cab. With the tailpipe it keeps it fairly quiet in the cab so you can cruise in peace. If you drive a lot everyday, that'll get old quickly. At my old job, I had a straight piped International, it sounded great but after driving it all day you just wanted to be done because it had been loud all day.
Meh not a problem , i am from the South my man, but my truck is not daily driven :) You notice it when you have asshats in front of you hovering on 43mph or so, that's pretty much the sweets pot for it to go into that 4th gear. rumbles in 3 on higher rpm lol!
Michel Linschoten I like a more mild sound on these trucks. I know a guy with an S10 who put a y-pipe in place of the muffler and had dual tailpipes made. It sounds decent but a bit loud for a V6 for my taste. I prefer a Dynomax Super Turbo with a turndown just in front of the axle, that sounds great on these trucks.
I put a 1 in to 2 out 40 series flowmaster on mine. Duel pipes straight out the back on both sides of the rear license plate. Sounds like a mild small block at idle and deep. But I also have a Catco high flow cat and pacesetter headers.
I'm trying to decide: Flowmaster Super 10s vs this And this is looking like the better option. Why? It sounds just as good without the restriction. If I run into any trouble, then I would add the Flowmaster muffler.
I would recommend the straight pipe. some mufflers can make it sound weird. the straight pipe sounds good without being too loud, and it is much cheaper
year late to this party, but i've got a single in dual out 40 series flowmaster on my sonoma and turndowns that dump right before the axle. it's very deep and rumbly. when i pull up to work, it resonates the sheet metal walls of our building and everyone knows i'm late again.
Its just 2 pieces of pipe that i got from autozone and 4 exhaust clamps. you will need to measure the pipes that are on the truck. You also need something to saw the old muffler off.

koplarf Did you run a reducer? My friend's Blazer is 3" into the muffler and 2.25" out to the tailpipe. We ran a reducer and a 2.5" Thrush Turbo, sounded decent, bit of drone.

GM never should of discontinued the mighty S10.
I don't care as much about the s10/sonoma as I do about the 4.3. It still pisses me of that they discontinued it

As long as you tighten up the clamps fully it doesn't sound Ricey at all

Well try a flowmaster 40...purrrfect. and cheap too

just run a y pipe all the way to the back with 4" tips, it'll sound like a mix between a viper and a Mustang kinda

those halos fucking sucked the leds went out way too soon. the rims were awesome though, I really liked them and they were cheap too
