search for british grand prix qualifying 1986. just watch the speed mansell and co go around that that track.
hill climbs where they race tight short circuits, the f3000 or other open wheel cars are the fastest.
goodwood where all compete the outright fastest time was recorded by a f1 car.
i do like s4's and rallying but an f1 car on tarmac is a differant ball game.
im not trying cause an argument but the physics of it explain why an f1 is far quicker
    cheers

Henri was real concerned in several occasions about not testing his car.

yeah people believe because of the romantic side of it.but if you think about it.an f1 car is designed from the ground to go around a tarmac track as fast as poss.why do they look nothing like s4's?
then the numbers '86 f1 in qualifying trim could be up to 1300/1400hp and 6/700kg!!
also if lancia spent all that money doing that why did they not film it?they were a struggling company needing money.what better way to sell cars.
lastly every lap done on tracks is logged...there no record of it

you are living on mars if you think an s4 is as quick as an f1 car.
s4's with even more power than gpb cars race in hillclimbs.the f2 ,f3000 and formula renault cars are much faster.ive seen the corners where open wheelers are 70kph faster around a corner.
if you want to believe the myth,go for it.
a group c car from the mid 80's would destroy an s4 on a track so an f1 would be lapping it in 3 or 4 laps

what about F1's from the 1980s? they didnt have too much traction, plus not as advanced aero as todays F1 machines

Why so much comment about this or that?
Do you use a axe for the nail?
Drop a groub B car on track, is like to drop a F1 on gravel & mud, on roads completely f*cked...
It does not make sense to compare.
    On each tools, his role...

The difference is that you can still fit a little a S4 for tracks or dakar, but a F1...
They disintegrate even on the roads we have...

Is there an onboard lap about the 1:18.1 lap time?

lapping 6th in an s4 is a total myth
do you not know how quick a 1986 f1 was?

that had massive fat back tyres and still had good down force, not todays amount but enough to hold 1400hp in check
