  • This tutorial shows how to make some lovely Peridot Drop Earrings that feature a nice twisted spiral pattern. The stones are 5mm faceted Peridots. There are tons of variations possibilities with these, so have fun experimenting! I would categorize these as intermediate level projects because of back to back step bezels. The materials for these can vary, but for these ones, I used 20 gauge sterling round wire, 18 gauge sterling round wire, 14 gauge sterling round wire, and 3/16 inch fine silver bezel strip in 28 gauge. As always, I use hard silver sheet solder and My-T-Flux from Rio Grande.

    I have to agree with you about what works for one, might not necessarily work for another. Being that I’ve not really had much formal training, I LOVE the opportunity to see how others do it. I’ll give things a try and if it works, add it to my repertoire. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful training!

    These are really neat! I notice in your earrings you like to use heavy gage wire. I usually use a lighter gage because I like to wear light weight earrings myself. The thickness is very cool looking, but for my ears, way too heavy. Just a perspective from a female who loves to wear dangly earrings! Thanks so much for sharing your art with us!! Oh! I forgot to mention a hack for straightening shorter lengths of wire like these... If you have a smallish square piece of leucite, or heavy plastic, or even wood of some sort, lay the wire on your flat benchtop, place your plastic on top of the wire, and roll it back and forth over the wire. This will roll the wire between two flat surfaces and you'll have straight wire without having to use your flat nose pliers and risk marring the wire. Hope this helps make things faster & easier for all... ❤❤🤍🤍💙💙

      Thanks for the helpful tips Karie! I don't always use this heavy wire for earrings. I use quite a bit of 18 gauge and 20 gauge for more delicate pieces:)

      im of the san carlos apache tribe in arizona. our people live near a 10 million year old volcano where the peridot is mined . its like walking on green glass there.

    Amazing work. Do you do any prepolishing or finishing with a compound? Or tumbler? I’ve made earring hoops recently and I’m confused on the best way to keep them looking shiny and high quality.

    • @chadssilversmithing
      @chadssilversmithing  5 місяців тому

      Thanks Fungusfairy:). Here is what I generally do: ua-cam.com/video/OpllnTnspTM/v-deo.htmlsi=iLgYb6_ccqlElyRE.
      I tumble some things to shine them up for shows if they've gotten a bit of tarnish.
