Thank you CD, that's my original cichlid tank and currently serves as a grow-out tank. You probably noticed some other beauties in there like the Ruby Red and lethrinops red cap, both stunning fish. Thanks for watching.
HI BEN; YOUR ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ABOUT THE PLACIDOCHROMIS HAPS. GORGEOUS SPECIES....I HAVE 4 VERY BIG STAR SAPPHIRES....MY FAVORITES.....ALL SPECKLED OUT....I ALSO HAVE 2 MDOKA WHITE LIPS ABOUT 4 INCHES...I'M TRYING TO GET MORE MDOKA'S, THEY ARE HARD TO FIND....AND THE ONLY PROBLEN WITH THESE TWO SPECIES IS THAT THEY ARE SLOW GROWERS.....I WOULD LOVE TO BREED BOTH OF THESE SPECIES...I JUST HAVE NO PLACE FOR A COUPLE OF MORE TANKS.....IF YOU EVER DECIDE TO VISIT LAS VEGAS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.....I WOULD LOVE TO SHOW YOU MY TANK.....WITH MY BEAUTIFUL FISH......
Mdoka's are actually becoming scarce in Lake Malawi at the moment. Getting a breeding group together would be awesome. Thank you for the invite. If I'm going to LV I'll let you know.
Gotta go with you ben my favorite genius in the lake I have at least one of every fish you just named I have a jalo reef really starting to color up real nice they are all beautiful fish
I had a star sapphire starting the get his spangles when he jumped out of the tank. All tanks now are fully covered. Still have 2 of his females, and a young, I hope, male. Also have a pair of electras. They are in a 125 with a pair of dophins, etc. No problems with fighting even with the females. However it is hard to catch young when they have offspring. Only one hobby store in town, and they have limited African species available even when special ordering.
They are still hard to get of hold of here, but no doubt easier to get then where you are. Try to get some and start a breeding group. You could probably make some good money if they are rare in your area.
Love your channel Ben; you seem very chill and I appreciate your obvious love for the hobby and the Africans! Shout out to the NYC area...I have a group of about 25, 2-3 inch Star Sapphires here in the Brooklyn, NY area...i am looking to trade around 10 for any one in the area with a similar sized group of any of the other Placidochromis, particularly the Mdoka White Lips. I am also currently looking to trade 3 inch Bucco Notos(10-15)for anything else cool or rare. Let me know NYC area chichlid lovers!
Thank You! I am glad that i found the channel. Your fake plants are looking amazing, can you maybee tell me where you where you got them from? Or a link?
Both are great placidochromis varieties. Another member of that family that I consider spectacular is the Jalo Reef, and of course there's the Star Sapphire.
THAT first tank 😨❤❤😨 wow, that is a tank full of purty!!!👌
Thank you CD, that's my original cichlid tank and currently serves as a grow-out tank. You probably noticed some other beauties in there like the Ruby Red and lethrinops red cap, both stunning fish. Thanks for watching.
My favorite family. Attitude, health, colors, variety,
Agree. The Lethrinops is also a very nice line of cichlids that don't come with so much violence and drama. Thanks for stopping by my friend.

I like how you showed a variety of the spiecies. Nice fish.
Jalo reefs are awesome! Definitely need one of those. I myself have a star sapphire & an electra at the moment👍🏻 awesome fish!
Yes, get a jalo for sure. They are beautiful and have a very mellow attitude. Electra and sapphire's are also amazing looking fish.
I have 3 of the "Tanzania" in a 450l (118G). As you mentioned very peaceful beautiful fish.
Has yours starting showing the silver chips?
Ben Ochart Yes, lots of. I've got them from a breeder close to my hometown for only 10$ each.
That is AWESOME!
Thank you for sharing. I didn't know placidichromis were so interesting.
Gotta go with you ben my favorite genius in the lake I have at least one of every fish you just named I have a jalo reef really starting to color up real nice they are all beautiful fish
Just picked a jalo reef from wonder of cichlids love the color it is almost a teal color a different blue than most of my fish
Yes! That "teal" really sets them apart as one of the most beautiful placidochromis. Thanks for watching.

Thanks fantastic video. I have a deep water Hap love them. Nice job
Beautiful fish! Love the white lips
Definitely my favourite too 👍
Hi Ben, they are all looking great. How big is the White Lips now?
Hello Paul! He's got to be pushing 4". The lips have gotten snow white. Very beautiful. Did you have any survive from your group?
Whitelips are very expensive here in the philippines and only few sells them here.
They are still hard to get of hold of here, but no doubt easier to get then where you are. Try to get some and start a breeding group. You could probably make some good money if they are rare in your area.
Can I have a deepwater hap in a 55g tank with peacocks
I think so ... but plan on getting a 125 as they put on size.
Hello...nice video...please tell me how many hours your lights are on the tank per day? People say the light are stressing the fish and can't color up
7 am to 10 am, the 6pm to 10:30, estimate.
Ben Ochart thanks for the reply...some people say the light effect the color of the fish...
