And as for most Russian planes registered in Bermuda (VP-XXX or VQ-XXX), it's mostly because of high taxes. Russia imposes a high import tax on US or European-built aircraft, but Russian regulations allow airlines to avoid those taxes if the aircraft are registered outside of Russia. As for leased planes, lessors usually avoid the Russian registration (RA-XXXXX) due to what I believe was questionable airworthy standards. But mostly this is because of high import tax.
Thank you, I have always wondered about this. But Bermuda of all places? Why? I know it's pretty common to have Irish registration among other airlines.
Thanks a Lot, Gabriel & Flightradar24! The A220/CSeries is a Supermodel or Miss Universe of a beauty, both physically and technically. Wish more airliines flew it - and wish I could spot it someday!
Great video I ´m just coming back from Riga it was my first flight on A220 and 1st flight with Air Baltic. Very good impression of the aircraft and its huge windows, maybe a bit noisy when you seat beside the engines and have a strong head wind. And absolutely nothing to complain with Air Baltic very very good company and staff
Great video! What an impressive set up Air Baltic is. Their A220's look superb and I can't believe the standard of cabin service for such a relatively short sector. There's hope for yet for the golden age to return(pre no frills, no thrills!)
@@airlinerlist I like to have the choice. If I can’t fly comfortably, I won’t fly. Luckily I don’t depend on flying for my job or I wouldn’t have one :))
Gabriel, that was a nice landing! Do you have experience flying real aircraft or do you have a simulator at home? Thank you for your videos. They are very entertaining and informative!
Looking forward to the hopefully happening upcoming 10 flights on an A220 with my band this year! 8 of them should be with AirBaltic :) I never flew on an A220 so far, but love the looks and tech behind it so much!
I think that AirBaltic should get more types of aircraft like B737 or like A320 or at least bring back the Q400 cuz the nowdays fleet is very boring and i would say dissapointing because years ago they had B757 B737 Q400 and overall just a way more ''colorfull'' fleet but now its just A220 and nothing else..
More types (especially if they all “do the same job”) means less operational flexibility, as not all crew and technicians are certified on all aircraft, higher maintenance costs and higher training costs.
@@LinkinLoris yea but if they get like a long range a320 then they could fly to new and much more far away destinations and possobly then get more passangers and after all its a win win for AirBlatic. Not an expert just my thoughts
@@Adzhiks that is other story, other business model. Baltics at the moment does not supply sufficient number of passengers for more wide network and longer flights with other aircraft types, for example transatlantic flights. Existing one is already very good. Basically with one stop you can go to most places in the world.
She is a beauty indeed. Hands down the best looking narrow body jet out there. And not just pretty- she does the job extremely well.

@@sebbivism Don't know. I guess Bermuda is pretty light on taxes

realize this is their business class service, the main cabin has BOB, not even free water or coffee.

Great video! Great plane! That landing was great you know. "Any landing you can walk away from is a good one!"
Отличное видео, благодарю! Привет всем любителям авиации!
Wonderful video again Gabriel! One of my favorite aviation channels!
Thanks a lot!
Muy bueno Gabriel.👏👏👏 Y qué linda experiencia la de usar el simulador. Excelente!!!👏👏👏👏
Gracias Daniel!

Thanks Benjamin! I have a few hours in single engine and a handful of visits to simulators. Hoping to do much more real flying soon!

These planes are made just down the road from me at Mirabel. Lovely beasts.
Excellent. Nice insight in Air Baltic's operations and especially the A220.
Beautiful plane. I still don't go crazy about the cockpit. I am nostalgic with planes that have less screens in the cockpit
LOOOOOVE this airplane!! Nice video Gabriel! Thank you for making that.
@Flightradar24 You we’re right! An A380 (UAE226) flew out of SFO a few minutes ago!
This Aviastar Tu204 (RA-64032) is the plane that caught fire in Hangzhou on 08JAN22.
Indeed it is!
Fantastic!
I miss flying so much
You can also see Bermuda registered Aeroflot A320 at 6:18.
Sadly, that Tu-204 is no more :(
Indeed! Very sad.
Russian airplanes manufactured outside Rusia are Registered in Bermuda due to high import taxes in Russia.
One more tax loophole… even in Russia 🤭

Might be we can call it colorful, but from operational point of view 4 fleets for such airline is disaster.
