This is incorrect technique. You shouldn't be grading after the CST to rec709 -- this will limit the dynamic range of your footage. You should CST to Arri LogC or DaVinci Wide Gamut then grade under a CST that is 709 at the end of the pipeline.
could you explain a little more on why that exact film gen option in the color space transform out of the 100 others? is it preference thing or is it because something deeper?
I chose Blackmagic Design Gen 1 because that is my camera’s color space. The newer Blackmagic cameras shoot Gen 4/Gen 5. If your footage was shot on an A7IV for example, you would select Sony S-Log.
Nice video! I usually put cst at the end because your primary adjustments won’t be made in a rec709 color space. Then add effects after.
Thank you! Ya, I know it’s better to work in DaVinci YRGB, I’m still fine tuning my process.
yeah there's no "right way" my friend and I were just talking about cst placement recently and thought id share!@@natebrewer04

Haha, after making the video I discovered this.😂

I have a beginner question.. does it have to be shot in slog?
You don’t have to shoot in log, but log gives you the best dynamic range and the most flexibility when color grading.
@@natebrewer04 thank you!
I sub without think please make more valuable content
Why work in a smaller Rec709 space, Use ACES workflow or DWG, Grade looks extremely amateur, you are not clear even of the basics.
Thanks for the feedback.
