Great idea! Hope you didn’t throw out any of those sacrificial plywood pieces. Most of my workshop is half finished because I can’t afford scraps anymore 😂

That’s perfect. Standardize your drawer sizes if possible, and always make your drawer width 1/32” smaller than specified for side-mount ball bearing slides.
I learned that 1/32 trick in the very hardest way possible 😂😂

Jigs are the single greatest thing for repeat accuracy. A jig can be anything from a piece of wood to an engineering marvel that looks like it belongs in steampunk infamy.

Everything is a trade-off... That does look like the most bulletproof way but I've never had to cut up extra wood when using a spirit level and ruler. The major issue is that you need something to cut straight lines quickly and easily, in this case a table saw with a fence. If you have a table saw then you can probably fit a drawer rail without cutting a jig for it. I would however do this if I had a whole kitchen to fit out.

Not very practical for a small job..need large tables away 100 for scrap ply

You know they already manufacture jigs for this that you can purchase and re-sell if you don't plan to reuse them. But reinventing the wheel can make one feel satisfied.

Smart idea to use a sacrificial board. Have always hated drawer slides... but not as much as hinges.
I have no tips for hinges. They are my kryptonite… 😂

Pity for the pieces of wood. There are better methods.
Are you using high quality birch ply for a template??? We use any old 6mm MDF that's lying around - faster through the panel saw too
Check out Accuride slides if you ever want to try something else similar to those.

You use plywood only for making easy measure.. money grows on trees there? Here a plywood is about 100$ (Sweden)
fucking hell. It's OK to make one cabinet like this. But more? There are better ways. And if he had to use a separate piece of plywood each time and cut it for each drawer, there wouldn't be enough time and he wouldn't be able to afford the plywood. What then with a ton of waste? It's a waste of material for such blocks.😂

How high above each drawer do you make the slides for the next drawer? Also what are you doing with the triangle?

Make it look easy 😂. I've installed my drawers, they're ok, but they're a little stiff at the back as I think it's 1-2mm narrower there, so the soft close doesn't really take affect. What should I do?

The most preventive thing in Ontario, Canada for making drawers are the sliders....where are the cheapest place to get them? They're upwards of 50$ each around here.

omg So much waste of wood, just as spacers..... listen! you just need ONE SMALL PIECE OF STRAIGT WOOD AND A SPEESSQUARE (speed square to align the SMALL PIECE OF WOOD) and then just tape it with two sided tape ore clamp it in position..... DON'T WASTE SO MUCH WOOD!
