Hamburger is popular in later modern times , probably because it used to be inexpensive, and is a totally acceptable alternative. Sadly, as someone has already pointed out, it's not any cheaper these days🫤 I generally use a thinly sliced beef like for fajitas cut into strips, or hamburger. I've never used pork🙂

Improvise, best cooking advice ever. Need dish towels & aprons with “Mamaw says Improvise”. To make affordable for my family I use ground beef/hamburger meat instead, still good. Will try your recipe & substitute the steak, looks delish. Canned mushrooms work fine when fresh not available ❤️Blessings.

I make "shortcut stroganoff" with cream of mushroom soup all the time. I add canned or jarred sliced mushrooms (I drain them and add them with the onions to the butter). We actually like it better. I've never added the beef gravy, but I will give that a try next time! It looks delicious!
This looks really good. Yes, groceries are really high in price and low in availability. Hopefully come election time things will get better. Living in the country really helps. We have gardens and hunting to help us through hard times. God bless yall!

I make beef stroganoff with browned ground beef, cream mushroom soup, can mushrooms combine and heat up and stir in the sour cream. Stir into cooked egg noodles. Salt Pepper to taste. I used to to do that, too, except I usually served it over hot biscuits for breakfast and mashed or fried potatoes for supper. It was a family favorite. That was back when ground beef was cheaper than breakfast sausage. Now it's the other way 'round!
