Yeah based on the After Action Briefing we had within Recon, it’s pretty much evident where we screwed up. (Pretty much everything in and outside the game itself) Long story short, everything all the way from Logistics to Leadership is currently being overhauled and redesigned, and we should be at a much better place within the next few weeks. The motivation and want to improve is very strong within everyone and hopefully by the time there is another tournament, we’ll actually be able to be combat effective. #RLTW!!!
This match kind of felt like a Team Made up of random players is playing against a Professional squad, TT are so fun to watch especially their Armour plays are top notch
TT is not really a cohesive unit either, though most of the players in the current tournament team have played together in tournaments before be it as the old TT comp team, emp or DN. But I would argue the top contributor to TT's coordination and cohesion is that most of the players on the team have been playing together and against each other almost evening after evening on our pub server for years at this point. Experience is a factor but trust between players is a harder thing to gain.
Crazy that RCN chose two pretty weak factions. LAV-25 and strikers are not comp choices. TT chose the strongest IFVs and easily won the fights and controlled the important airspace.
@joshchu Yes. You can peak and shoot over taller walls. It also acts like those poles on the shopping carts at michaels. It shows everyone where you are.
Love the content Moidawg this event is awesome. Glad they gave you special spectator privileges and i hope the add this to base squad so that you can do even more informative commentary and eye in the sky even better than you already are. Would be sick.
People pretty quick to lay some hate on Recon. Obviously they made mistakes and didn't play together as well as TT, but give the dudes some credit for giving it a go and trying. I have a feeling playing against TT in a tournament is a bit different than your typical Sat night server match of RAAS.
I wouldn't call it 'hate', they're getting extremely justified criticism for showing up to a video game tournament playing at an extremely casual level. It's not necessarily very fun to spend several hours watching completely one-sided matches because one team very clearly didn't understand the assignment. Especially when that was the theme for the entire first round. Stomps just aren't fun. To play OR to watch. I get that there needed to be more teams to fill out space for the tournament but it's painfully obvious from the first round that several of the teams like Recon were really just a bunch of pubbers being lead by a handful of clanners who recruited them specifically for the tournament and thus spent little to no time preparing.
Moi I only ask one thing, please upload each round in an individual videos or some other way, it spoils the second round to see there is only two games after you know who won the first.
Each matchup is two rounds. one to decide the early victor and secodn to give the first round loser a chance to retake the win. If they win they get a 3rd match as match point
If you upload them as individuals, then you can literally see that there were only two maps played. Meaning who wins the first, wins the second. Having one solid video like this is the way to go, just have some personal rule to not look at the progress bar on the bottom. The only other solution is to add filler to the end of the video, but that kills Mois watch time and therefore the YT algorithm gets mad.
He’s good. I also like Slorgs. Nice to see that content creators like Moidawg and the like have persisted with making content about Squad. Really, if content creators got bored of Squad, it wouldn’t be half of what it is today And this tournament is really cool to see. I have never watched a single e sports tournament before because I have no desire to watch crack head shooters bounce around with pink M4’s…. So seeing these massive teams playing competitively is really neat to see I play on the Fields servers almost every night and it’s only been getting better and better. There was definitely a (long) period of time where a good squad leader was rare, but nowadays it seems like most nights, the teams are stacked. Sure there’s still bad matches and bad teams but overall the health of the community is getting better
Amazing series and so fun to watch, for the next one an updated bracket for each video would be awesome in case people have to spread watching vids out

Same for RaT, a lot of experienced comp players have coalesced into RaT actually including many people from TT, which is gonna make the very likely final of TT vs RaT really fascinating to watch and honestly at this point it's completely up in the air as to who's gonna actually win.
I think a big contributor to their success is the faction picks, idk why recon would choose 31st MEU on a map like goosebay with barely any water and also only uses the LAV 25 which is pretty outgunned against all those BMP’s
Great Cast Dawg. But could you add blackscreen as a third match even if the best of three is decided in two rounds ? Because as it is now you always get a spoiler as soon as the frist round is done (only if one team wins two rounds consecutive of course).

A few things to say. Heli kill was hilarious, the way he said it with such convictio. 😂. Recon had a terrible first game. Im calling a Tac Trig and Allstars Germany final. That 3 LAV rollup at 50:00 was sick. It ended terribly though lol.
Slight pet peeve. Could you find a way to hide the score in the top right during the intro? I feel like I can gleam too much from the upcoming matches. Loving this new format though.
This is just a suggestion but I believe having 2 accounts, one who is just viewing the map 24/7, would make the combat much more viewable at times so that we don’t have a map covering half the screen for bits of it.
On the flip side of that coin, a team that actually knows how to support infantry instead of playing war thunder all match is EXTREMELY OP both in comp and pub matches. That was the REAL kiss of death IMO. So many matches I've been in where the armor players do well, but then just stay out in the wilderness permanently on vehicle watch and playing war thunder while infantry flounder and fail to take a point for an hour.
7th Rangers should’ve signed up. There are some matches that are just not entertaining to watch at all. No strategy, no communication, HAB out in the open..
It's because every match in round 1 was a comp team vs a milsim or pubstomper group. Only one side in each match seems to even understand the assignment, the other side still play like it's some highly controlled one life event, or play it like it's just some normal server match where they can just do whatever on the individual level. Obviously the side that's communicating, using helicopters for recon, wolf packing vehicles, and properly using airstrikes/artillery is going to stomp the side that's not doing those things.

It essentially was. RCN pooled a lot of MERC players because the core of RCN is like 10-15 players that play in a single squad
Yeah, I think that's what I find the most fun... teams are so big you're bound to have one squad at least full of veterans and the rest are scrappy.

RCN made a really bad choice of faction with the armor match up in the first round especially. The strykers could not even pen the ZBLs.

TBH infantry wise they were pretty bad until recently. Overall they are extremely good now though.
