He's good in Archer too. I have literally never been as jealous of somebody as I am over this dude's voice. I guess H. John Benjamin has an amazing voice too
@@telectronix1368 I would always expect a big overlap, but I think Rick n' Morty fans probably skew younger than Archer fans. Cartoon network is kind of an odd duck nowadays.
Chris Parnell is a national treasure, R&M aside, Archer is out of this world, and his bit on 30 Rock as Dr. Spaceman is insanely well delivered. Seriously can’t praise him enough.
Am I the only one who was a fan back in his SNL days? One of the best straight men in the show's history. Was great at delivering dry humor and whenever everyone else was cracking up he always managed to stay in character. Basically, Chris Parnell is the anti-Jimmy Fallon.
I finally watched Archer this year, having made sure not to spoil anything for myself all this time, and I gotta say Cyril Figgus is leaps and bounds a better character than Jerry Smith. Like, I'm not knocking Jerry, but Jerry is to Cyril what Cyril is to Arhcer.
Yeah, and Arnold Schwertzenager was Hercules long before he was the Terminator. Jay Leno was the "garage attendant" in the season permier of Holmes & YoYo long before he was hosting the Tonight Show. What's your freaking "ahem" point???
Most people know Chris Parnell because of SNL or Rick and Morty, but I remember when he was the narrator on the PBS Kids show Wordgirl (he was really funny on it too)
It's refreshing to see people who are lucky to be born with such amazing gifts that can provide wonderful job security - ones in areas that they thorough enjoy - still can hold themselves to a certain higher standard despite their good fortune. Plus in this case, Chris Parnell gets all the credit for his very strong work ethic, so couldn't have happened to a nicer or more deserving person.
Parnell's best bit on SNL was in the film short "Introducing the Mercury Mistress, the first car you can... ". Still makes me chuckle even after more than 20 years.
Y'all talking about Jerry, Cyril, and SNL among others but the Narrator on Wordgirl needs a mention as well! I've always enjoyed his interaction with the other characters in that cartoon and it took me a while to piece together that it was Parnell. His voice was perfect for how (lovingly) satirical the show was even though it was edutainment aimed for kids.
He is a crucial part of the great voice talent on Archer though. Man, I just don't get why Rick & Morty got popular and why a clever show like Archer isn't. I get that Archer keeps changing its format but it's still as funny as ever and if anything that effectively *avoids* flanderization
Autotrope Yeah, Rick and Morty sucks, and Archer was the best show on television there for a little while, I don't get it either. I guess either a populace getting dumber and with shorter attention spans or the production teams knowing the right/wrong people or being strategically smarter/dumber.
My older brother was a DJ back when they played vinal records. Loved to go to work with him and watch him work. I learned so much from him about how to take care of my records, which I now play for my granddaughter!💕
Whenever I like a voice actor I look for an interview with them. I've done this a hundred times, but with Parnell I just can't get it into my head. I'm mentally going "Jerry's talking, but that guys mouth is moving. Wth." Someone explain xD
The cat's voice got me too. As soon as I heard it I knew it was somebody significant, I just couldn't place who it was. So I gave in an looked it up. Similar situation with Mrs Wong too, her voice sounds it should be narrating a 90's Hooked On Phonics cassette tape.
We're all watching interdimensional cable, the one where Jerry is famous and doing late night. Holy Shift!!!
It's even the same show, just a different host
He was in cloud atlas

That must be what inspired that moment in Rick and Morty.

His voice is the definition of charming.

“Jerry is not exactly a role model.”

Dr Leo Spaceman! "Your weight puts you in what we in the medical field call the disgusting range" one of the funniest lines ever in a comedy.
