My wife is diagnosed with MCI. She will repeat questions many times on a day. I learned to answer them multiple times even though they are written on a calendar. As the days pass by, her frustration boils over on to me. You learn fast to not react because communicating ends.
I need to do much better as the witness. I know why I remind mom that she is Impaired. It's because she denies it, which means she isnt motivated to do the things she needs to do to stay with us, to slow or halt the march to severe dementia. She remembers things that are repeated enough times. I'm evil for thinking like this.
@@MNDanno It's funny how often the right thing comes along at the right time. It happens to me often. We're all learning, and growing and developing a deeper understanding of ourself and our mission. It's a journey. You've played a part in my journey and I'm glad to have been part of yours.
Whatever the glitch was, it seems to have resolved itself. I tried on several different browsers this morning, and was able to see the video. Hope you're able to as well.
Is that something the person has always done, or only recently, since the current problems with cognition began to develop? If it's new, it can still be the same concept, in that the person has an impairment. People do the best they can, but they're going to struggle with something they didn't use to struggle with. It sounds like something that a trained Speech Language Pathologist might be able to assist with, and that would be something to talk to your doctor about.
That understanding on the part of your husband, and the ability of the two of you communicate in a healthy way about it, is the key. I'm happy for you.
Thankfully I have not forgotten when guests are coming. It’s so rare in this season of Covid. And my family understands when I forget things.

Great. That was my hope. I give all the credit to Cheryl Freed for her wonderful insights and suggestions.

Anyone with Alzheimer's would be fortunate to have the kind of support you're giving your mother.

No video, just black screen with audio.

Why if they remember but they continue to ask these questions because they can't control it?
