Michael you have inspired me to the fullest and have found my new favorite hobby. With your videos and website I’m on my third box guitar 👍🏼
I use a small allen screw on the back at the rear of the CBG to adjust the string height. This works by changing the "neck angle" to lower or raise the string height. It works very well indeed :-)
Great thanks but ditch the back ground music
Great video! I'm doing my first build now using MGB parts!
Thank you , very informative and great presentation.
Mike, this really helps! Thanks!
Great video, learnt lots. Thanks for taking the time and effort to do this Michael.I just wish you had taken it one step further. How do you permanently fit the neck in the box once all the above work is complete? Does the neck touch the lid or the base. what is to stop the neck sliding out of the box? Hoping someone can help
Great help and info...Clive....in Wales
Another Great Lesson and done in a way that even I could understand it. Thanks Mike! Got to get me a digital caliper now... :-)
Well done. Thank you.
Great video, thanks for the explanation of the back angle, as i am in the middle of building my first CBG, and i am not a guitar player, i am an enthusiast of the art of music period. I play drums, and I mess around with stringed instruments, by no means am i a player. I own a bar in Limestone Florida, or Ona, Fl. I have live blues music the last Sat. of the month. This month Feb. 26th 2022 i am Having Steve Arvey, he is hosting a CBG festival kinda thing here that day. If by chance you are in the area, stop on by. Herbs Limestone Country Club. SCR 663 Ona, Fl.
I thought there were"no rules" to CBG building... :-P
Thanks for the vid Mike. Nice explanation.
Very good 👍 thanks
You can buy those Calibers at Harbor Freight for $20
Very well explained, thnx! Where you buy these nice micro pickups?
Mike how does one know if they need the 017 degree .??? first I heard of this . great video sir .
When you cuts on the to of the neck, you must be attaching the neck to the lid (top of box). I cut from the bottom of the neck and attach the neck to the bottom (back) of the box. Cant mix those two techniques.
Seems like if you want an acoustic effect you would need to put the neck at the bottom so that the top can vibrate
Question. When putting the neck into the box. Does it have a gap on the bottom of the box and neck or is it attached?
Great explanation on back angle, thanks! I do notice some builders want the neck to touch the lid at each end not touching the entire length as you have, does either way matter?
Yeah apparently the top of the box isn't going to be able to resonate if it's sitting on the neck so it's kind of a solid body guitar
Mike do I need a gap on the bottom and top of the neck to help resonate? Thanks Michael
It's a damn cigar box , com'on .
Hey Michael,
Is sensible to attach the neck to the front face of the cigar box, back angling the front face of the neck and the box notches, and not having the neck touch the back face of the cigar box?
Im in ocala florida where is your shop located I love this stuff
From Argentina very didáctic explanatión,why is neccesary a different Wood to the frets? Can be used a hard Wood for all the Neck o mástil in spanish?TY
What scale length do you use on those red Brickhouse cigar boxes?
what are you selling
Where do I get a neck like that for a bass?
With respect, the headstock is way out of proportion to the neck and box. Make it narrower.
The headstock hasn’t been shaped yet! Where have you been?
