Would love to see a guided tour of "the fleet" as it exists today. From the original excavator you rescued (which started my viewing) through the boats, bikes and tractors we've all loved watching you return to service. I'm also curious as to whether you "cash-in" on your "fixer-uppers" to finance the next project.
In fact I'd love to see an interview style Q and A on on the source of your knowledge and your zen-like attitude to repair/restoration

It would be absolute lunacy to post a tour of "The Fleet" on the internet or anywhere else.
Do you not realise that would be posting a shopping list for every thief with 500 miles?
"The Fleet" would be stolen in a matter of weeks if not days.
Just pause and "Think" about your suggestion.

Marty I have often meant to comment on this so am doing it now - I really appreciate the effort you put in to your videos - no doubt multiple cameras and not forgetting the drone. I think we tend to take quality for granted given the array of viewing options we have in this digital age. To produce this quality on a significantly smaller budget and as a one man band - Kudos. Cheers from across the ditch.👍

For a guy who does as much crawling around under vehicles as you do, you should dig out a trench (reinforced on the sides of course) that allows you to stand comfortably under to change oils etc. You must have a spot on that property that has a slight slope to it so you could walk into the trench from one end and work under these big machines a lot easier. Like a mechanics pit you see in an auto shop (or whatever they call it). Also, love the tree frog joke. You’re not a real dad unless you make a good tree frog joke with your son while working on a piece of machinery

I have an 55-46, same engine but different gearbox. It takes 22liter of SAE 10\20 or 30.
I used a 10W-30 universal oil for wheat brakes and clutches.
    Engine takes 9.5liters, i used 15w-40.
Mine had 9l of oil left of 22l. it did not really care, and my drain plug was the same.
    55-46 has only syncro's on 3-4 gear.
Old Fiats are like gold here in Norway and 70-80 and 100 series in good kondition starts at 10 000$

See about getting a canvas (as opposed to nylon fiber) tarpaulin to cover the tractor between jobs. The linkages will stay lubricated and free of dirt much better if protected from rain and dirt.
I'm continually surprised at how much can be "fixed" on these old machines by simply draining and replacing fluids and replacing filters. "Clean fluids, fresh filters... damn! Runs like new!"
I'm sure that down the way you'll be showing us how to replace shaft seals on the wheels and drive shaft. But this was a great step forward.
PS. The seat looks a bit dodgy. Your backside will appreciate a new seat since you're going to be using this a LOT.

Runs good!:) The first jeep I bought was a 1950 jeep pickup truck that had been converted to a grass fire truck in 1960. In 1982 I was able to purchase it. Everything looked well serviced. No evidence of leaking from gear box's or differentials.:) Drove it about 20 miles home and burned up the rear diff. Bone dry!:( No wonder there was no evidence of leaking. Fortunately I had a parts truck. Great job showing how you still have to look!:) Thanks

Excellent video, the arthritic tractor controls it's probably just lack of use, most of the older stuff relies on thrown oil to lubricate the inside, only when there isn't a path do you get "proper " lubrication even if it's only a gutter and drip hole or a wick, many strange issues come back to 100 years of rusty junk filling all the small holes especially when the oil resembles tar or in very early stuff it's castor and has gone rancid ....

  • @phillgoodall8838
    @phillgoodall8838 Рік тому +2

Just a beaut cute little takka takka!
Before turning the rear wheels inside out check the specs on the rear wheel final drives. By flipping the wheels you put the contact load point further outboard, thus increasing the 'overhung' load moment. Doing so will reduce the final drive bearing life (no problem if you can repair yourself) and may over-stress the input/output splines to the point of failure.
See if you can get manufacturer model/part numbers for the final drive assembly and a manufacturer's spec sheet.

I know what you were talking, with my two wheel drive tractor you have to think about it when you're using a backplate because the tires just don't have enough traction. And if you look at mine they're close to smooth. I run tire chains all year round so I can avoid buying tires cuz I'm cheap, CHEAP I say! Lol! Not really, my feeling is if it does the job why spend money on a want not a need? When it's time I'll buy them then. Thanks for so many excellent videos! Bob from Virginia USA

Basic maintenance and intuitive troubleshooting. Another rescue ready to perform. Increased value. More versatile, 4 WD, powerful, no leaks, no overheating. Does the narrow grades very well and easily. McGiver ingenious solution for the air filter $40 vs $260 delivered. Great video.
