    I found that some games wont work even after being patched with supercard software, or they wont save (talking about in game save), or wont be patched. The solution to those problems is to run the supercard software as an administrator!

      Does it solve the speed issue? Some GBA roms run super slow for me, like Tekken and GTA.

      @@lewis1285 Honestly I haven't noticed since I didn't play that many different games... the only game I played that was a bit slow sometimes is Doom 1 and 2, but soon after I discovered that those games are supposed to be sometimes slow because of the stress they put on the unit / hardware... maybe it's the same with Tekken and GTA. Have you tried this method?

      How do you run the supercard as an administrator? I'm new to this

    • @georgeyankovic
      @georgeyankovic 4 роки тому +6

      @@Metallicarlangas First of all you should download the software which you can get from here www.minihere.com/supercard-mini-sd-gba-flashcart-firmware-v1-85-software-v2-71-download.html
      Next you should install the SC MiniSD v2.71 software on your computer, and other two Firmware V1.85 and MoonShell Reset for SC copy on to the sd card of your flash cart. When you installed the MiniSD software, if you decide to patch some games, you should run it as admin. You do that like this:
      1. Right click on shortcut of MiniSD software and click "Run as administrator" - for momentary use, means you will have to do this every time you want to patch a game
      or
      2. Right click on shortcut of MiniSD software and click Propertis > Compatibility > check the "Run this program as administrator" under Privilege level > Apply > OK - for pernament use, do this once and you can patch games any time you want to.
      Hope I was helpful, but you should know that some games will not work even after being patched like this, cheers!

    Normal Save is to save the in-game save into your SD card.
    For example, in a Pokemon game, you hit SAVE from the game menu and turn off the GBA - when you turn and load the Pokemon game, your save will not be there.
    You need to SAVE from the game menu + do the Normal save combo, and Save it. This will write your normal save on your SD card.

    some info about the Supercard
    what the Normal Save feature does is move the savefile from the temporary chip to your SD card, and i mean the savefile as in when you save in-game, everytime you save in-game you need to bring up this menu and do a normal save so your savefile is actually written to the SD
    another feature is, actually it can play NDS games, on a DS of course and you also need a forwarder or having FlashMe installed in your DS, but it can play DS games
    some of the bads of the SuperCard is that there are some games that no matter if you patch it or not, it won't load
    some games run a bit choppy as you probably noticed
    all in all, the SuperCard is a good cheap choice
    if you want to go a bit farther you could go for an EZFlash Omega, which i have tried as well and works a lot better than the SuperCard without being as expensive as an Everdrive, it also has some quirks and doesn't supports DS games like the SC does

    • @DragoSmash
      @DragoSmash 3 роки тому +3

      @@frostycomedy-man9985 yeah, one of the main big quirks of the EZFlash is remembering that writing the save file to the SD takes a bit
      This is for situations where your are done playing and want to turn off your console just right after saving, you need to wait around 10-20 seconds to allow for the card to save your file after the game tells you "save completed", unlike the SuperCard, the EZFlash saves automatically when you save in-game
      One if the big pluses the EZFlash has is actual hardware RTC
      SuperCard doesn't supports it at all and Everdrive emulates it which can cause some wonky behavior

    • @frostycomedy-man9985
      @frostycomedy-man9985 3 роки тому +2

      @@DragoSmash Wow thanks so much for the reply, extreme useful to know. The fact that you have to wait for the EZflash to save might mean it's just as convenient to do the manual save with the SuperCard right? Still not a huge deal to wait for the save so it might be worth it just for the extra game compatibility. Which card do you use today? If any?

    • @DragoSmash
      @DragoSmash 3 роки тому +4

      @@frostycomedy-man9985 for the saving process, yeah, both might as well take the same time, the SuperCard needs the button combination while the EZFlash does it automatically
      The EZFlash is very worth it, just like i mentioned in the first post, the SuperCard has game issues, some may not run at all, or run choppy, while the EZFlash has run everything without a problem, from Pokemon ROM hacks to obscure games that the SuperCard can't run
      Another benefit of EZFlash is that you don't need a program to patch the ROMs, the EZFlash also does this automatically
      So while i keep my SuperCard for testing, i mainly use my EZFlash for playing

I'm glad to hear you've found compatibility good around the board. I don't mind patching roms or dealing with annoying software so long as the games run okay, but if the SuperCard place a substantial amount of games choppily, then you may as well just emulate.
      Thanks so much I'm not gonna waste my time with the SuperCard. I'm gonna try to track down an EZFlash

    Some useful information to save anyone time:
    1. The system recommends you right click on super card program on your PC, and gonto properties and then to compatibility tab. Select compatibility mode and choose Windows XP service pack 2. I always run the software as administrator after that.
    2. Once you load a game into the super card program. Double click on the title you want, and select all the save stuff so it works just like a normal save when you save in game. The save state sjust flat out don't work for me. Glitches out and doesn't even work. This method works for all the pokemon games so you can save in game.
    3. If your games just flat out aren't loading. It's probably due to your console. One of my two gba simply would not load any games. My other gba loads fine. Thank God I had 2. It works superb in nds.
    4. Rom hacks feel REAL buggy. I may just give up on them and stick to fully legit games.
    5. I also only copy/patch a single game at a time. Not sure if this helps, but I do it.

    I mean if you want a cheap Flash cart solution and you already have a GBA this is a perfectly valid way to play roms on your GBA on the cheap. And while the capacity may not be much you also have to remember its plenty for just GBA as most Roms are 8, or 16 MBs certain special roms do run up to 32 MBs like Kingdom Hearts Chain of memories but most are 8 to 16MBs. With Saves being around anywhere between 50 to 200KBs in other words it would take over 100+ Roms to actually fill a 2GB card up also you can find a 2GB micro SD easily lying around or for dirt cheap online.

    I have done what you indicate but it does not work, in my case using it on my original Game Boy Advance model, I have observed that it is a cartridge voltage problem. When I change the internal battery that comes with the Supercard to an AAA battery or directly connected to GBA batteries, it gives it enough power that it doesn't stagnate on a white screen when running the game.

    I just got this flash cart, it had that version of the firmware.
    I can confirm it works fine on my GBA SP AND DSi with a 2GB SD card - when they say FAT, they mean FAT16 and not FAT32.
    If you get crashes converting roms, remove the converted ones and convert again.
    I do one by one, double click the file, it sometimes thinks it can apply cheats that don't exist... or just disable everything.
    if the double click doesn't work, untick all the options, close the app, restart it, load the rom and it should export as a single file.
    I convert roms per letter and remove the roms that converted and find the bad ones by double clicking all of them, the bad ones are extract for debuging and I try again the conversion repeat.. it's kinda painful process :/
    lastly I convert the extracted roms with no save/cheat features.
    The saves work fine on the games that support it on both GBA and DSi.
    It also supports folders.
    Great cart for the price.... if you already have the SD 2GB ;)

    Mind you, I'm coming from a 20 year old xrom ezflash card, so it's an upgrade. So you've got a use an app to compile the games, and when you add new games it screws up the order, so you just cut/paste the whole directory again and you're good. Some games don't work, so you recompile them without the save or cheat options and they work.

    Well, I feel a bit more reassured about this cart. I notice that you have an IPS screen however, thus I have a few questions (If anybody would be so kind to entertain them).
    1. I'm told that more traditional flash carts like the everdrive and ez flash use more battery life (which is a premium w/ an ips screen), likely due to the fact that you're using a software to boot the games (which is likely still active in game considering you can use save states). Have you noticed decreased battery life with the super card sd?
    2. Considering this is a gameboy, the elephant in the room for every bootleg/flash cart is: How well does it function with pokemon? Do trades still work? Can you import pokemon to DS? And most importantly, are there corruption/ lost save file issues?
    Thank you

    • @wilviccanas
      @wilviccanas Рік тому

      Hi, I can answer your number 2 question.
      For Pokemon, trading works for GBA to GBA, I haven't tried it with Gamecube, though. I tested it with a trade between Supercard SD and a legit Pokemon Gamecart.
      For import with DS, I don't think it will work since DS needs an actual Pokemon cart in slot 2 to be able to import.
      For game saves, I haven't encountered any, however, if you will use the in-game save function of Pokemon, make sure that you save in-game and then do the Normal Save combo (L+R+A+Select) and then save there too. This will write your normal save file (SRAM) to your SD card. If you don't do that, you'll lose your in-game.

    I believe "normal save" means you save the game without using a save state. Not sure how any of this works but as far as I've read, you're supposed to save as you'd normally do in your game and then use the button combination for the normal save. It's usually the case that if the device works with a particular card standard - then anything within that standard will work. I often see specs sheets on various devices saying max supported card size to be 64GB or 128GB, which is obviously the SDXC specification. Problem is - the specs sheets often describe either the maximum card size that was available at the time of the product's launch, or something that most consumers might be buying. In reality, the SDXC specification goes up to 2TB (we have not yet reached that card size, but 1TB cards are now available) and all those devices that worked with "max 64GB" cards work just fine with 128GB, 200GB, 400GB, etc cards.
      You just have to make sure the specification matches the device's controller and you're good to go on any capacity within the range.

      If it is old firmware they have probably worked out some bugs. If it matches like his you don't need it and you can just take it off your SD. Or you can run it and erase it after. Just make sure your battery is full so it doesn't shut of while it updates.
      P.S. You can run Gameboy, Gameboy Color, NES,SEGA Master System,Colecovision with apps like goomba color and pocket nes. Just convert them to GBA then run them through the converter he showed you.

Everytime you save with the in-game option you have to manually write the save file to the sd card, and then load it again the next time. I recently found my old Supercard that I used for my Nintendo DS and GBA. The rom were not working, because I totally forgot 15 years after that it has to be patced, so thank you for giving the hint!
    I also remembered that some ROM were slowly at some point. In Donkey Kong Country for example, , the game was very slow on a few sequences, as well as in some other games that I don't recall. I guess the Supercard was not fast enough for heavy action/sprites.
    Is anyone noticed things like this?

    • @ivanv754
      @ivanv754 4 роки тому +15

      I was reading about it. They say it's because GBA cartridges had two read modes, one fast and one slow. The slow mode allowed for cheaper ROM memory inside the cartridge. The GBA started in slow mode and then the cartridge set the mode to fast if it supported it. In practice all cartridges ended up using fast mode. Since the supercard is cheap, the SRAM it uses to substitute the ROM in a real cartridge is slow. The patcher modifies the ROM file so it doesn't switch to fast mode. If it switches to fast mode, then the SRAM cannot be read and all you get is a white screen.

      I play sacred stones on the super card and haven't had any issues.
      The only games that I've had issues with is Pokemon where the save is 128kb, but its easily solved by just saving twice before I load the save to the SD. The game always says the save is corrupted and will revert to the previous one. By saving twice, it goes back to my first save. I'm guessing Pokemon keeps a backup of your save on the first 64kb and then the latest save on the second half of the 128kb savefile. Since the supercard only saves 64kb, the second(and latest) save gets deleted.

  • @SianaGearz

    0:40 "I fixed all of them" BULLSHIT.
    A real ROM has single-cycle storage access. This card has 4-cycle memory access. The best you can do with this hardware is burst access where first cell is accessed in 3 cycles and subsequent ones in a sequence in one cycle - but demanding games still don't work.
    This is why games lock up on start when unpatched. At a bare minimum, the patcher modifies the ROM to use 4/4 timings on the memory access, this is sufficient to start a game. Additionally it modifies save type from EEPROM to SRAM, creates a SRAM file prefab and embeds a set of hotkey menus into the game to load/store savestate and SRAM.
    6:05 "it also supports normal saves, not sure what that means". There is a single SRAM chip on the cartridge that is the same as used by the majority of genuine game cartridges for battery-backed save. Most versions of SuperCard have a battery to maintain the save in the same manner, but because they are intended to run more than one game (you add a bunch of ROM files on your SD-Card), the SRAM gets cleared every time you start a game - it's actually reintialised with a file from from SD-Card. After you modify the data in SRAM by saving your progress in-game, you also have to use the hotkey menu for "normal save" to copy the contents of SRAM to a file on SD-Card. Which is to say of course extremely stupid - instead they should have used a tag file.
    The patcher app is junk too, it crashes and will sometimes patch fine, sometimes it will fail. Was thinking of writing a more robust and cross-platform patcher, but not sure it's worth the effort.
    It is highly suggested to avoid the Supercard if possible. Get EZFlash instead, it's not too expensive either, though it is more expensive.

    • @TuncayAyhan
      @TuncayAyhan 5 років тому

      I've got a EZFlash Omega, works totally fine indeed. Don't know why anyone want to buy a cheap flashcard like the Super Card. If you have a AGS101 display in one of your gameboys or have a DS Lite and you want decent emulation , just save some money a few months longer and buy a proper FC.
