thanks for the links! always hard to find them with just search. As a crazy person who loves those ar tonelico songs, somehow this bulgarian folk choir song from Xenogears ua-cam.com/video/7F2x0Nt5Jk0/v-deo.html (game that was originally made as FF7) truly fits those same notes as Shikatas songs do. But i wonder if your trained ears might tell me why that is the case. Much love!
I love vgm quizzes that are about actually DIFFERENT titles rather than just the same 100 iconic tracks over and over again. There's only so many times I can hear Halo, Cod, Old Pokemon, Tetris, Mario etc until I get bored.
I appreciate the variety too, but damn I barely knew any of those games from the first quiz (and clearly marco didn't either). I think it makes more sense to pick obscure tracks from relatively well-known games.
I think you need to try and aim for a compromise, some middle ground between both extremes. It's insanely pointless to have a quiz when no one would ever know the answers. It's not nearly as pointless to only have the most famous tracks in a quiz, but you can only do that so often. These niche tracks/games might be better reserved for another format, but in a quiz, I'd at least would like (Marco) to have the ability to make an educated guess.
7:00 The Black Wolf Stalks Again is actually NOT Soken! It's Takafumi Imamura! He's one of three composers for FFXIV, and he's written music for some of the Eden Raids, the Bozja storyline, and even my favorite song ever, Scream from the Pandemonium raids. He's even one of the guitars in Give It All. You'd be surprised at how much FFXIV music is actually written by Imamura and Daiki Ishikawa. All three are worthy of praise.
I do love how at that point is like 1% guessing, 99% just using those videos as means to learn about new videogames and music. My regards to Crosscode Wadanohara Undertale Yellow Love those games. Undertale Yellow especially has amazing OST, especially if you dig deep into it.
At first I was "What are these games? NEVER heard of these." Then came CrossCode (awesome game btw) and Tales of Symphonia right after one another which I instantly recognized.
Always happy to see Beatmania IIDX represented in videogame music quizzes and videos! :) I miss those games so much, there's no arcade cabinets near me anymore
I seriously think you would absolutely love The World Ends With You. It’s such a beautiful game with a ton of good tracks, mainly japanese-style hip hop.
It's absolutely maxing, such cool tracks that really have that Japanese hip hop vibe. Never played the games but I've spent a lot of time listening to the soundtracks, they're just so cool!
8:12 I have to gush about, because pretty much all of Remedy's music is done by a real band called Poets of the Fall, they make music specifically for games under Old Gods of Asgard, but in some games, especially the original Alan Wake, you would find radios just playing music off their albums. I *really really* like that band and Marko Saaresto, their vocalist, has really impressive range as well. Their music isn't for everyone, a lot of it is slow and moody, but some of it is also just plain weird, and some is really upbeat, but if they click with you they're really hard to stop listening to.
@@Aghul Oddly I knew the band before I even knew Remedy & their games xD, it wasn't until I played Control (and part of the reason I decided to buy it was because I heard about them being featured) that I learned about them working together
The arrangement that makes up "The Black Wolf stalks again" specifically is by Takafumi Imamura. Its a rearrangement of "Imperial Will" ,which was composed by Uematsu.
"Someday" from TWEWY was the only one on the first list I recognized. It has both English _and_ Japanese lyrics, and in-game you hear the JP version first.
My main memory i retain from playing that game like 10 years ago was getting to the VERY horror part of that game at like 10 pm and it scaring the absolute shit out of me because i was half lucid by that point.
To answer your question at 10:57 - a very underrated game from ATLUS called Digital Devil Saga. DDS duology has, probably, the best Shoji Meguro's soundtrack among all titles he was working on.
Suprised tbh compared to some of the games shown in this video that Marco wasn't familiar with it, as soon as I heard it without having played the game though immediately thought "This sounds very Shoji Meguro inspired."
my name is zagreus, it took exactly 1.3 seconds for me to hear that guitar and yell "IT'S THAT METAL ARRANGEMENT OF HADES' FIGHT" i opened my phone and knew exactly which track number it was LOL the unseen ones evokes such a fight or flight reaction in me
5:12 As an old DDR fan, I heard that crash followed by an Organ and knew exactly what song that was. God i love Tatsh's older music and Xepher was amazing to hear as a kid.
I'm so happy The World Ends With You finally got love in one of these quizzes!! Someday is like up there as most likely my favourite TWEWY song PFFT And also I think it's the only song I got right in this whole quiz besides Unseen Ones💀💀

The soundtrack for the first one (Little Goody Two Shoes) is one of the most beautiful soundtracks i've ever heard. Definitley give it a listen. I recommend the tracks "Sonata of Moon and Wind", "Audtakt - Prelude", "Emerald Prairies", "Sunkissed Meadows" and "Whispers of the Moon"

Since you dont seem a lot about danganronpa i recommend you listen to some of the ost since its pretty unique. especially the debate themes discussion break, discussion heat up, discussion hope vs despair and scrum debate. i recommend the versions from the third game. The games are kinda like Phoenix wright, in that you always have a murder case in each act and you have to gather clues and end the act in a big trial where you have to find out the who the murderer is with the evidence you found.
I got exactly two, one from each quiz: The World Ends With You on the first quiz. Definitely an iconic RPG OST. I think a ton of JRPG fans from the late 2000s would put the song "Calling" down as a certified banger. The Black Wolf Rises from FFXIV on the second. When it comes to FFXIV, my mind is a steel trap of dumb miscellaneous things. I *almost* got Danganronpa, but I hadn't heard it in so long, I was like "God, what could this have been from?"
Now I feel bad I got the beginning songs on the 2nd video (like hell I got any on the first). Only to get over confident and not get my two fav bonkers games later for Ai somnia and drakengard 3. You sir are a gem for doing these and being such a good sport when they are tough to guess.
that first quiz was truly a bunch of random bullshit lol but falcom's music always hits!! i have a whole playlist of songs from the trails games. its my 'driving into work' playlist, haha
A fully Guitar focused list and not a single "Warriors" game mentioned. Songs like "Wall of Fate" "Lu Bus theme" (especially the new Dynasty Warriors Orirings version) " Thousand Suns" or "Epic Man" are soooo good.
I only got Drawn to Life 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles. I should probably have gotten Tales of Symphonia and I'm really upset with myself that I didn't get Two's theme from Drakengard 3.
Well, I can tell you I got absolutely nothing in the first quizz LMAO! Second one, I got at least one song per difficulty until it got to expert... and then I was out of my depths XD

Treasure of the Rudra (Rudra no Hihou in JPN) is a good RPG for the SNes that was fantranslated to English many years ago (atleast 15 or 20). I believe Spirit Chaser is a Boss Battle Theme.
8:26 I was a classically trained pianist and basically up until college I shunned everything except classic. And though I went to college FOR piano performance, around then is when Guitar Hero and Rock Band came out, and man did I pick up a brand-new appreciation for 70s/80s rock and metal. And then I discovered symphonic metal. If you want a REALLY solid (and by solid, I mean AMAZING) mix of metal and classical, go find like Rhapsody of Fire or Sonata Arctica lol.

Treasure of the Rudra (Rudra no Hihou in JPN) is a good RPG for the SNes that was fantranslated to English many years ago (atleast 15 or 20). I believe Spirit Chaser is a Boss Battle Theme.
Do you have an addiction? Do you require aid?
No matter how much music I know and can recognize... There is no way I'll be able to remember all the names
