Switches can be either leader initiated or follower initiated! If you prefer the dynamic of pure lead-follower, then the leader would initiate the sideways motion (for example at the end of a swingout) to get the follower travelling around them doing Switches, and the leader would lead into something else to end the Switches. Or if you are dancing with some two-way communication between leader and follower, then the follower can initiate the sideways movement to his/her left (eg: at the end of a swingout) and the leader might choose to go with the flow and give the follower the freedom to Switch around them. Both are cool! Just depends on your preferences. Within the Switches, since the follower has so much freedom in open position, the follower can choose to do any of these footwork variations without particular disrupting the leader. Hope that helps!
You nailed it. I'm Australian born, to English parents, and I now live in London. I spent a lot of time in the USA over the course of a decade, and voila! Strange hybrid accent. -Sharon
angelhoegarden I’m 168cm tall! Naaah, tall folk look amazing doing switches! Legs for DAYS! Angles angles everywhere! It might just be that the leaders aren’t giving you enough counter tension for you to sit into your switches, or it could be about where you are placing your hips relative to your feet and shoulders. Switches are often led horribly and then I feel really awkward too! Leaders, switches need countertension and you should be the centre point, with the follower circling around you.
Sharon is the best. Great demo
Best beginner demo I've seen. Thanks for making these shimmies accessible♡♡♡》》
very BEAUTIFUL Thanks.
Thank you so much! :)
Saludos desde México !! Y de la comunidad de SWING FOREVER OAXACA , Es hermoso , te amo Sharon Davis !! Soy tu fan !!
Very beautiful. Are the switch styles led by the leader? or is it the follower who decides to do it? Thank you!

What is her accent? It sounds like a combination of British and American English, almost with a hint of Australian.
