Intended as a medley of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, "Lord of Castle Oblivion" is a collection of various melodies and themes the player encounters throughout their ascent of the castle. Beginning with the lofty "13th Floor", the arrangement soon descends into chaos with sul pont strings assisting the eerie "Castle Oblivion" melody. Statements from "Just Wondering" pop up throughout as transitional elements, eventually leading to "Scent of Silence" and the finale: "Lord of the Castle". Many other melodies from CoM show up in one form or another throughout the last minute or so of the arrangement, and you'll have to keep your ears open to catch them all!

In celebration of KINGDOM HEARTS and the stunning melodies of Yoko Shimomura, Utada Hikaru, Takeharu Ishimoto, and Tsuyoshi Sekito, we present Project Destati’s second volume.
DARKNESS is the highly-anticipated follow-up album to Project Destati’s 2014 Billboard-charting soundtrack album “LIGHT.” The album is a musical amalgamation of fan-favorite themes from the KINGDOM HEARTS series, re-assembled in an all-new fashion like long-forgotten memories.
Featuring a live string orchestra and industry-leading soloists, DARKNESS is a dark, grand, and mysterious musical experience that aims to capture Tetsuya Nomura’s own imagination.

I love how you captured the eerieness of not only Marluxia's theme..but the theme of Castle Oblivion itself, as well. LEGIT THOSE BELLS THO!
Honestly kind of disappointed we didn't get the obscure Oblivion combat theme with the organ. One of the few genuinely overlooked tracks in the series.
Oh! "Struggle Away"? That would have been so fun! Maybe you can expect it in a future album; it may not have fit the theme of this track that well. When arranging it, we considered adding many other melodies (Face It, Thirteenth Discretion, Graceful Assassin, Scythe of Petals to name a few!) after Scent of Silence, but we concluded that cutting those out and leading directly to Lord of the Castle told a more focused story. Thanks for your suggestion though; that one would be fun to do!
Project Destati I think he meant Forgotten Challenge, the battle theme for the 13th floor of Castle Oblivion, an indeed overlooked and great track.

Strelizia's Requiem
Loved the Castle Oblivion Theme. Captured that theme perfectly here. My only complaint would be that Marluxia's theme didn't have the punch that the song needed. It usually gets me hyped and on the edge of my seat but it felt too held back here. Considering the rest of the album is gold though, I'm probably just nit picking.

I love how Cases of Foretellers is deep within this song! Specially after the ending of Kingdom Hearts 3 and its epilogue (not to mention the fact that guy Lauriam/Marluxia came from Daybreak Town) and other things makes everything in this piece amazing! Great work as always. ♥
Love fast this seamlessly transitions from the cheerful beginning to the eeriness that is castle oblivion!
That opening gave me CHILLS!!!
I almost feel a little bad for waiting until now to listen to this. God, this piece perfectly captures the mystery and underlying dread that Castle Oblivion imbues. I actually felt myself getting unnerved in the earlier parts of the song, with the familiar tune of the Castle's theme itself being overlayed with unpredictable notes from other instruments. Fantastic work, as always.

Yeah, I'm with everyone else, the "Lord of the Castle" may have had an epic moment but it didn't hit you as hard as it could have. Overall this was a fun song to listen to, thank you.
If there was any music track I was over-the-top excited for, it was a possible remix of Lord of the Castle. So when this track was announced, I was crazy hyped for it. So not only did this entire mix meet my expectations, it far surpassed them. My love for Marluxia has increased exponentially thanks to the wonders of Project Destati lol
I know people say this is the weakest song, but what with what we found out about said Lord's sister... I can't help but think it's a bit more appropriate now.

i've been listening to these songs since they came out, and yet i only just realized the melody of "just wondering", which is one of the short tracks that play in some of the worlds, at the very end of this song. it's one of my favorite osts from re:com, and i can't believe i never noticed it

Absolutely amazing a beautiful rendition of one of my favorite tracks in the game
I absolutely loved Hollow Bastion in KH1. I really wish Castle Oblivion returns as a world in KHIII and it's designed as a dungeon or something Zelda-like or at least like Hollow Bastion was designed in KH1. The world would be complex and rich to explore.
i liked this song quite a lot, and while i'll agree there is a lot going on near the end, i found it easy to listen to each aspect of it with studio monitors

I'm not sure if the syncopated notes there are from the Unchained X version, but that's definitely Dearly Beloved. Good ear!

Probably going to be yelled at for this, but...
I feel like this is the weakest song in the album. The intro is great, going through the Castle Oblivion theme and Scent of Silence was a nice surprise as well. But Marluxia's theme... Seemed a little all over the place. The main part of the song is almost outvolumed by what's happening with the background pieces. By comparison, Unbreakable Chains always kept the main part in focus.
Could be just me, could be just my headphones. The rest of the album is amazing though. Thanks for all your hard work!

Alaric323 Hmm I agree too. I liked a lot the Castle Oblivion theme but not much Lord of the Castle itself. I hoped for something more intense and that didn't stray too much from the original theme with motifs of other songs but it's still awesome and an unique interpretation

This was amazing (as usual), but I feel it would have been elevated to spectacular if there'd been a little hint of the origins of the castle... (maybe there was, I don't have the best ear for this stuff) I just feel it would've really felt poignant.
You mean with references to Aqua or The Promised Beginning? That would have been neat, for sure! We went into this one with the idea that it should be a medley of the most important CoM tracks--and to that effect, we focused more on Marluxia than the Castle itself
