UA-cam has changed a lot and I miss the style of content created by UA-camrs back in the day. I thoroughly enjoy your videos, because it does feel nice chatting about makeup or life with an internet friend even though I’m in Australia.

First 13/10 that Claire is back, same I defo missed her. 2nd I've been thinking recently about like the og days of youtube? For me you are part of the "early days roster" like og youtube days for me which was circa 2009-2014 I'd say give or take probably sooner but I am 30 now so things have started to blur a little, and I'm gonna blame it on age. But yk og youtube watching was like Ingrid Nilsen, Estee, Claire, you, Anna and I'm sure I had a handful of other channels I tunned into but what I'd say they all have in common is that it feels like you are sitting down catching up with a friend even though they all have different production styles and very different lives and I think that's what kept me coming back? (even when I take huge breaks) That I am catching up with a friend vibe that's been fostered is part of the special tea? It's what keeps the people coming back? lol I've tried to articulate this thought like twice now and I still feel like my thought isnt fully finished but I'm gonna hope its halfway to making some sense.
I saw her video too because I enjoy her information and science plus her great spirit. I think from a corporate person you should give yourself room to say you do have a "big girl" job because you have created it and run your own business which is not a small thing. I go back and rewatch declutter videos specifically- they are often my background noise whilst I clean. I absolutely understand why people quit content creation altogether considering the ramifications it must have on one's mental health- especially if they lack boundaries. I will say I always admire the folks who are consistent and don't let the trolls of the world hiding behind their screens deter them. It can be super discouraging to continue when it feels like you aren't being received well, but I love that people's passion persists beyond that.
I used to think freedom meant doing whatever you want. It means knowing who you are, what you are supposed to be doing on this earth, and then simply doing it.

Most UA-camr content is of the here and now and not information based so it’s like the news, you don’t go back and watch old news programmes ya know 3. I think a lot of older UA-camrs are coming back as they themselves find more joy in creating longer form videos and audiences for the most part prefer them 4. UA-cam has a unique community where more often than not people are nice in the comments, rare on social these days! 5. I think we want to see the ‘new’ because vlogs are like catching up with friends and let’s be honest we’re all nosy and want to know what’s going on. Oh my goodness, gracious, Lan. I only watch a handful of UA-cam creators, and you are by far my favorite and always will be. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the "shorts." I love a good longer vlog like yours. That's what tickles my fancy 😊. As far as jewelry goes, I always wear my watch, rings, and bracelets/bangles. I still sport my gold paperclip 📎 necklace. I also wear a thinner braded gold chain that's shorter, too. I love my pearl necklace along with my other dainty gold chain that I switch up with different charms (like a pearl, cross, etc). I just rotate them based on what I'm wearing. Sometimes, I'll pair a couple together. I also love to switch it up sometimes with my gold silver necklaces, but I still enjoy my longer pieces (depending on what I'm wearing). I'm glad you're feeling better! Xoxoxo ✨️ 🤗

I do rewatch UA-cam vlogs very often 😂 especially those from Allegra and back then heyclair ! Her return to UA-cam is one of the best news ever !! I think vlog are so comforting and when I need to have something going on in the back I usually watch an old vlog ! Maybe I’m the only one to have watch some vlogs over and over again 😅

I love UA-cam. It's all I watch 😂 I've always wondered - so I pay for a premium subscription to UA-cam so I don't get ads. Does that mean you don't make any money from me? No shade. I don't actually mind if you make money from it. Just curious! The longer the vids the better. I just find some of the sponsored content boring as a lot of it isn't my style so I just skip past it. I just discovered your channel and girl we are on the same wavelength! Estee and Claire were two of the pioneers I def give a nod to as the reason I finally started my channel (shameless plug). The UA-cam world is such an awesome place and community! Also watching things on repeat - big awesome psychological phenomenon of a subdued anxiety for familiarity - sooo therapeutic. So many thoughts on this, but here’s one: I think the movie comparison is very valid, but here’s the key difference for me. Movies/shows are kinda suspended in a particular time (frame); whereas, with UA-camrs, it’s more tangible in real time, especially if it’s a volg, which are more ‘of the current time’. We’ve certainly developed the parasocial relationships with some UA-camrs. I know I certainly have. It really does bring us comfort because it does give the feeling of hanging out with a friend. (Fahrenheit 451 much? 😅)
I don’t have TikTok and I rarely ever open IG anymore. Haven’t really been enjoying IG for years. UA-cam is my happy place. I love the randomness bumping up against the comfort favourite regulars. I’ve seen UA-camrs come and go and I was never really upset when someone left. And I’m not *upset* about Natacha leaving, i’m happy that she’s going on to pursue other things, but man, I totally cried. She and Mario were just this spark of pure joy and it felt like the biggest treat when she would upload a new video after a long break. But I will say … I agree with your observation about how little we tend to revisit UA-cam content yet Natacha’s videos are comfort viewing for me. Hers are the only ones I do, regularly, go back and re watch. Just for the encouragement to keep at it when I’m all out of motivation and discipline has failed me. The information is invaluable. She’s one of the few influencers I can say actually changed my life. 😔. I hope she’ll pop back in some day and give us an update, but … whatever will be will be. I think we all like the “lower quality” quantity of the day to day because it is likewise comforting. I think of it like how when we were kids, we just followed our parents around and watched them and they weren’t doing anything dazzling, you know? They were just doing the stuff that makes a life. Remember watching your Mom or older sister getting ready in the morning? I do, and I think UA-cam vlogs give us that feeling.

UA-cam won’t have fully healed until Jenna Marbles comes back (should she ever choose to come back). I think she’s the only UA-camr whose videos I rewatch regularly. I will rewatch declutter videos certainly for background noise if I’m very anxious or I’m puttering around the house cleaning but I rarely rewatch content, even video essays.
I think you bring up an interesting point. I don’t rewatch old UA-cam videos either. I think it’s different than movies and TV shows in that movie and TV shows tell a story and if it’s a story we enjoy, we can watch it countless times. I think it’s the same with rereading a classic book, you’re there for the story. With UA-cam, you’re there for the person. It’s that parasocial relationship people talk about. I’m not on any given UA-camr’s video for a “story,” I’m there to see what’s new with the creator, what are they up to, what did they do when they vlogged the week before. I think it’s more like catching up with a friend/someone I care about. It’s the “social” part of media in this case that keeps us coming back. IMHO. 😊
I constantly rewatch a few of my favourite UA-camrs videos, as they're always inspiring to me and it feels nostalgic to sit and watch their 45 min or so vlogs. I highly recommend finding the UA-camrs that have that appeal to you. To your point though, I do miss some creators greatly, as they either stepped away from UA-cam entirely or partially. I'll always be a long form content viewer, fellow HeyClaire viewer also! :) Wish people would come back to long form, especially since I don't consume short form content at all.
I would genuinely grieve if you left UA-cam! I look forward to your videos so much, and #edm #lanmas are an event I anticipate like a new season of Bridgerton. There are several creators I’ve followed who haven’t uploaded in years, and sure I miss them but only a little. I wonder sometimes how their lives are going, if they’ve had a baby or just what’s new.But I can honestly say if you left there would be a long standing void. You do feel like a friend to many of us simply because you really are so kind, sweet, adorable, fun, funny, authentic, relatable and just a good person…the kind of person that makes an amazing friend. It’s hard to find someone like that to follow, and the result of this is a feeling of community here on UA-cam that is just so fun. I make my 18” chain a 16” by just clipping it a couple links up. I agree this season of Bridgerton felt a little dragging. I loved it, I want more, but it was missing something. I think movies (and books) usually have complex storylines/plots or experiences that still hold true over time. YT vlogs/vids are usually more specific to the moment - current events, trends, personal updates - so they quickly feel like old news/irrelevant. I think also movies typically have higher level production which makes them worthwhile to revisit. It also has to do with the culture of yt, reels, tt etc vs movie culture. On yt there is this culture of always looking for new content to keep our interest and keep us engaged. With movies and books, the focus is more on their enduring quality of the content rather than its novelty. I think also the fact that movies and books are about fictional characters has something to do with their rewatchability. They offer an escape from reality into imaginative worlds (which is timeless). They also have symbolic depth in that they carry deeper meanings and themes so watching them multiple times you always discover something new and take from it something new (this also applies to Taylor Swift songs - see TTPD and all the different stages we went through leading to our addiction). Long Story Long… you cannot leave youtube ever! We would not survive it ❤

In terms of beauty and fashion video content, at least in my own case, I primarily watch the latest videos and don't go back to older content because old videos demonstrate products that are no longer available or techniques that are no longer trending. In cases of content creators that produce material that is timeless (cooking, gardening...) I often go deeper (farther back in time) into their cannon of content. We love you, Allana. Please stay with us for as long as it's fun and rewarding for you 🥰
I think it's similar to the Late Night shows. Like when James Corden left, obviously he has a HUGE catalog of shows. But it felt like a loss because there wouldn't be new shows. And I watch the late night shows every day, but I almost never re-watch. It feels similar to youtube to me in that way.

I also rewatch your video's, sometimes if there is not a new video up I go and rewatch old ones. Also I watch a lot of old ones with certain make-up products in them, if I want some inspo on how to use them I go and search for your video's with the Patrick Ta eye palette etc. Also one fall / late summer 22 make-up look has been my go to daily make-up look ever since I watched that video.

I will say I always admire the folks who are consistent and don't let the trolls of the world hiding behind their screens deter them. It can be super discouraging to continue when it feels like you aren't being received well, but I love that people's passion persists beyond that.

5. I think we want to see the ‘new’ because vlogs are like catching up with friends and let’s be honest we’re all nosy and want to know what’s going on. It’s like what reality tv should be, not the staged crap we get

Oh my goodness, gracious, Lan. I only watch a handful of UA-cam creators, and you are by far my favorite and always will be. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the "shorts." I love a good longer vlog like yours. That's what tickles my fancy 😊. As far as jewelry goes, I always wear my watch, rings, and bracelets/bangles. I still sport my gold paperclip 📎 necklace. I also wear a thinner braded gold chain that's shorter, too. I love my pearl necklace along with my other dainty gold chain that I switch up with different charms (like a pearl, cross, etc). I just rotate them based on what I'm wearing. Sometimes, I'll pair a couple together. I was also beside myself when HeyClaire re-popped back up. I’ve always re-watched her videos, especially the Japan travel vlog. She does make beautiful cinematic/conforting/thoughtful videos. I was so sad when she privatted (not a word) her videos & was happy when she started releasing a few again. I love UA-cam. It's all I watch 😂 I've always wondered - so I pay for a premium subscription to UA-cam so I don't get ads. Does that mean you don't make any money from me? No shade. I don't actually mind if you make money from it. Just curious! The longer the vids the better. I just find some of the sponsored content boring as a lot of it isn't my style so I just skip past it. So many thoughts on this, but here’s one:
I think the movie comparison is very valid, but here’s the key difference for me. Movies/shows are kinda suspended in a particular time (frame); whereas, with UA-camrs, it’s more tangible in real time, especially if it’s a volg, which are more ‘of the current time’. We’ve certainly developed the parasocial relationships with some UA-camrs. I know I certainly have. It really does bring us comfort because it does give the feeling of hanging out with a friend. (Fahrenheit 451 much? 😅)
I don’t have TikTok and I rarely ever open IG anymore. Haven’t really been enjoying IG for years. UA-cam is my happy place. I love the randomness bumping up against the comfort favourite regulars. I’ve seen UA-camrs come and go and I was never really upset when someone left. And I’m not *upset* about Natacha leaving, i’m happy that she’s going on to pursue other things, but man, I totally cried. She and Mario were just this spark of pure joy and it felt like the biggest treat when she would upload a new video after a long break. But I will say … I agree with your observation about how little we tend to revisit UA-cam content yet Natacha’s videos are comfort viewing for me. Hers are the only ones I do, regularly, go back and re watch. Just for the encouragement to keep at it when I’m all out of motivation and discipline has failed me. The information is invaluable. She’s one of the few influencers I can say actually changed my life. 😔. I hope she’ll pop back in some day and give us an update, but … whatever will be will be. I think we all like the “lower quality” quantity of the day to day because it is likewise comforting. I think of it like how when we were kids, we just followed our parents around and watched them and they weren’t doing anything dazzling, you know? They were just doing the stuff that makes a life. Remember watching your Mom or older sister getting ready in the morning? I do, and I think UA-cam vlogs give us that feeling.
I started watching UA-cam back in what was probably 2019 or 2020 and you were one of the first people I subscribed to…then I went back and watched all of your videos that you had previously made 😅 guess I was fan Girling lol

So what makes my love for YOU and your channel and all the effort and love you put in…it’s really you. It is even more special than those movies because instead of beloved characters…we in a way have a beloved FRIEND in you. You are more genuine than even your average YT star. And for that I will always be here. Your content is more than content. If it is the same, I DONT CARE. Because it is a moment with my friend. Someone I can relate to and laugh with. You are so open with us. I feel like this sounds creepy hahaha but it’s honestly humbling that you would share what you do with us. And I totally understand why you would experience longings for another lifestyle. If that day ever comes know that you will remain with me always. To be greatly missed. Your sense of humor and view of life. You are special. You have brought me joy on days that were grim and lonely. The internet has its major cons…but getting to have you has made my life better! Man, I'm still sad about Natasha.. I wouldn't feel the same for any actor ,as I don't feel close to them AT ALL. With content creators is just different. I know I don't really know you and I'll probably never meet you IRL but, I definitely feel attached. The complexities of the human brainnn 😅
UA-cam won’t have fully healed until Jenna Marbles comes back (should she ever choose to come back). I think she’s the only UA-camr whose videos I rewatch regularly. I will rewatch declutter videos certainly for background noise if I’m very anxious or I’m puttering around the house cleaning but I rarely rewatch content, even video essays.
I think you bring up an interesting point. I don’t rewatch old UA-cam videos either. I think it’s different than movies and TV shows in that movie and TV shows tell a story and if it’s a story we enjoy, we can watch it countless times. I think it’s the same with rereading a classic book, you’re there for the story. With UA-cam, you’re there for the person. It’s that parasocial relationship people talk about. I’m not on any given UA-camr’s video for a “story,” I’m there to see what’s new with the creator, what are they up to, what did they do when they vlogged the week before. I think it’s more like catching up with a friend/someone I care about. It’s the “social” part of media in this case that keeps us coming back. IMHO. 😊
I constantly rewatch a few of my favourite UA-camrs videos, as they're always inspiring to me and it feels nostalgic to sit and watch their 45 min or so vlogs. I highly recommend finding the UA-camrs that have that appeal to you. To your point though, I do miss some creators greatly, as they either stepped away from UA-cam entirely or partially. I'll always be a long form content viewer, fellow HeyClaire viewer also! :) Wish people would come back to long form, especially since I don't consume short form content at all.
I would genuinely grieve if you left UA-cam! I look forward to your videos so much, and #edm #lanmas are an event I anticipate like a new season of Bridgerton. There are several creators I’ve followed who haven’t uploaded in years, and sure I miss them but only a little. I wonder sometimes how their lives are going, if they’ve had a baby or just what’s new.But I can honestly say if you left there would be a long standing void. You do feel like a friend to many of us simply because you really are so kind, sweet, adorable, fun, funny, authentic, relatable and just a good person…the kind of person that makes an amazing friend. It’s hard to find someone like that to follow, and the result of this is a feeling of community here on UA-cam that is just so fun. I love reading the comments and feeling the community as we all admire Meryl and celebrate with you as you adventure and get married and live life. I do like your perspective you shared with the actresses, so true.

I think movies (and books) usually have complex storylines/plots or experiences that still hold true over time. YT vlogs/vids are usually more specific to the moment - current events, trends, personal updates - so they quickly feel like old news/irrelevant.
I think also movies typically have higher level production which makes them worthwhile to revisit.
It also has to do with the culture of yt, reels, tt etc vs movie culture. On yt there is this culture of always looking for new content to keep our interest and keep us engaged. With movies and books, the focus is more on their enduring quality of the content rather than its novelty.
I think also the fact that movies and books are about fictional characters has something to do with their rewatchability. They offer an escape from reality into imaginative worlds (which is timeless). They also have symbolic depth in that they carry deeper meanings and themes so watching them multiple times
you always discover something new and take from it something new (this also applies to Taylor Swift songs - see TTPD and all the different stages we went through leading to our addiction).

In terms of beauty and fashion video content, at least in my own case, I primarily watch the latest videos and don't go back to older content because old videos demonstrate products that are no longer available or techniques that are no longer trending. In cases of content creators that produce material that is timeless (cooking, gardening...) I often go deeper (farther back in time) into their cannon of content. We love you, Allana. Please stay with us for as long as it's fun and rewarding for you 🥰
I think it's similar to the Late Night shows. Like when James Corden left, obviously he has a HUGE catalog of shows. But it felt like a loss because there wouldn't be new shows. And I watch the late night shows every day, but I almost never re-watch. It feels similar to youtube to me in that way.

I also rewatch your video's, sometimes if there is not a new video up I go and rewatch old ones. Also I watch a lot of old ones with certain make-up products in them, if I want some inspo on how to use them I go and search for your video's with the Patrick Ta eye palette etc. Also one fall / late summer 22 make-up look has been my go to daily make-up look ever since I watched that video.

I hate short-form content. It kills the brain. That‘s why everyone is so hyper, they only know 90 second content of hyper intensity instead of a long-form content where you can actually connect and calm down.
