Surprised you didn't put limbs or leaves in your bed bottom after a good repair job.Yes nice repair Jeff Do like how you work your soil keep it feeding. Thanks Jeff
Got one bed of corn growing, had 1 bed of celery and beets that bolted so starting another bed of corn . Since planted close I am feeding every week along with my onions. I use fish imolgent and everything is doing great will try celery and beets in September as to hot this time of year south texas.
My second year of gardening in Central Florida in a backyard garden. How many times can I amend my growing areas? Should I leave an area dormant or put in a cover crop? I sow in soil, grow bags and 5 gallon buckets.
Patricia, I grow in raised beds, 5 gal buckets, and grow bags. I fertilize every 15 or so days. I mix my compost and my fertilizer together. I'm not a professional, gardener but I have been gardening for over 40 years. I can see the plants like that and they put out new foliage and fruits.
You can amend as many times as you like Patricia, depending on the amendment. Dormancy with a cover crop is a great tool give the garden and the soil a break. I wouldn't both letting containers or grow bags go dormant, container gardening is a different beast where those practices are rarely used.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms I reuse grow bag and container soil. I have an area where I “dump it” then add amendments to it and new soil! I find warms I put back and grubs I stomp!

Seed Viability Test first!! Don't waste soil, space, or time until you know you have viable seeds. Super easy to do, takes less than a week!: ua-cam.com/video/WKLXpOejHq0/v-deo.html
Just wondering Jeff,,,do you add soil to your compost while curing? And, what type of lettuce is the best for indoor growing? Thanks…Lori from Newfoundland 🇨🇦
Hi Lori... I add old pots and plant root balls, so the compost does get "soil" added to it. For indoor lettuce, all the romaines and buttercrunches do awesome!
The cover crop I really didn't catch. I know basketball was created to keep players active between baseball & football. Then they all became an entire sport. (None of them do I ever follow, I find them to be a waste of my time.) But cover crops, are there not plants that can be useful besides "cover crops?" Why not just let weeds take over then disk, till or plow, depending on the field size & scope of the field... Why not just grow something that will give a harvest? i.e. cover crops do not compute :-) I watched it again, & I do not see the difference between what a weed does & a cover crop. Seems the same to me.
No blabbering, but right to the point gardening lessons. Thanks & much respect.
Thanks! :-)
As someone who drinks his own plant fertilizer by accident, your videos are a huge help with my gardening endeavors

You're teaching me to be a druidic hero, thanks a lot!

Give it a try Timothy! Just make sure it hasn't been sprayed with chemicals! :-)
I absolutely love grass cuttings to use as mulch. So beneficial 😁

@@shirleyk623 thank you very much for your input. It’s valuable and I appreciate it. I was rarely using fertilizer after setting up the plant
Do you have an episode on transplanting from outside raised garden beds to a heated

Love it! ❤️
Thanks Paul!! :-)
Good idea but I would have screwed through the old wood into the good wood which would make it stronger
I did. The screws were 3" long and 2x4's are only 1.5" thick. I went it from both sides.
