    Oh no! I thought my raspberry cane had survived and was growing new shoots... now I see they are most likely suckers 😮‍💨😭 gah. You'd think years of experience would count for something! Thanks for another quickie Jeff, you're the best 💖

      Suckers can still be used to start a new patch though Kerri....if you're worried about the quality of the existing one.....

    Jeff! Oh my stars! NOW I see why my basil is dying! I've just been cutting off leaves! Can't wait to buy another basil plant! I've been doing it all wrong!

      Ha ha it seems brutal at first, but once you see two branches forming and splitting off from where you cut, it's like the biggest "aha" moment!

    When I was a teenager I would mow the raspberries down in the spring and they would come back quickly loaded. They were trying to come up everywhere the roots would grow under the walkways and they would come up in another part of the garden we could not confine them so we dug them up. This plant is so easy to grow it's hard to kill it.

    I planted a couple of dormant raspberry bushes last fall. How can I tell which branches will need cut when Spring comes? I'm scared that I'll either kill it, or prevent it from fruiting this year

      If you just planted them last fall Lynette, I wouldn't cut anything.

    My basil turned brown for a fourth reason, which was overfertilization. Since it's growing indoors, there's less soil volume per fertilizer, making it easy to overdo it. I had to take the plant outside and flush rainwater through the pot several times, trying to get the excess fertilizer out. The plant seems to be recovering now, but slowly.

    My Brussels didn’t do too good. Tiny sprouts but I left them in and my resident wild bunny had something to munch in the snow. I don’t mind sharing m the weather has been horrible.

    in one video you recommend waiting till spring to prune raspberries and in another you recommend winter pruning. Which is it?

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms  Рік тому

      In the video, I say you can prune in the winter if you are confident in your ability to distinguish between the two cane types, primocanes and floricanes. If not, you can wait until spring where the floricanes won't be budding out, so you know which is which. So its both, winter and spring, like it says in the video(s).

    Jeff can you help me with my thornless blackberries. Not sure what to cut back. Hubby says they are "sprawling" and in the way. I really want blackberries. This is there 3 year we didn't prune after the first year because the deer did it for us. The were "caged" last much less deer damage. We did got just a few berries.

    ok my blackberries are taking off like fire but my raspberries and blueberries are extremely under performing to be kind, they’re sold here in florida so I have no idea what is happening

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms  Рік тому

      Hmmm.....Blackberries are more forgiving....do you think its a soil issue? Water perhaps Lisa?
