Sitting, and taking time to think & reflect...and just play, even as adults, is absolutely vital. In a world where the current zeitgeist is that almost every activity has to be pre-planned, pre-booked and over-organized, we certainly need these times to 'catch-up' with ourselves (and others). Your Chippy Chipmunk visitors sum this up for me. They notice that you're being by yourself and relaxed. I frequently holiday alone (my choice!), and often notice that nature comes forward when it feels there's no threat from too many people, over activity or extraneous sounds. Birds start singing, and wild creatures start coming forward to share you space, and to see what's going on. It's almost as if they're pleasantly surprised by the silence!
When I was a kid I built a city on my window sill each toy had their own little lives in that city it was so fun I used to plant beans in pots and let then grow in the city ,ah miss the good old times
Good talk Summer. You just do you, and those of us who are here, will remain here, hanging onto your every word. Have a beautiful and sweet summer, Summer!!! 🍃🤗🍃
Hi Summer! I really enjoyed this relaxing video. Your view there is beautiful and it was fun meeting the three Chippy's. I like to use baskets as cover pots, too. I have a sanseveria in one. The one you have is really beautiful. The bucket and tall hammered vessels are really cool. I'll look forward to seeing which ones you use and what you put in them. Thank you so much for sharing! Now I need to go watch the tour video!
I love what you say about the chipmunks planting sunflowers - I think exactly the same way - a squirrel planted a hazelnut in a planter on my balcony and I let it grow to respect this little gardener's work :-)
I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed vibe of this video. Plants and pots will always be of interest to me. It was also nice to meet the Chippy family. 🌱🐿🐿🐿
I love what you stated about imperfections. There is a beautiful ancient Japanese philosophy called wabi-sabi that I incorporate into my home decor along with the implementation of feng shui. Wabi-sabi is the acceptance of imperfections in aesthetics and I love that you are embracing this concept of your new tiny home! Your knowledge and perspective inspire me!
I was so excited to watch this new Summer Rayne video as I make planters and plant decor for a living and my lil brand is all based around Wabi Sabi ! ✨
Color is always relational. While local color is an important base, the secret of color comes through the harmonies of their interaction. That means all colors can be beautiful within the right scheme. (The nasty orange brown wainscoting may be an exception :)
Such an special selection of items for the house! It would be very nice a video to see all the cuttings and propagations you are preparing for this space! 🤩
(warning, politics-related) Watching your videos has been so important to me in the midst of the political chaos in the country (I'm from the US but this certainly may apply elsewhere too). I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling that, unlike other moments of fear in the past decade, right now is such a threatening time to be alive with religion-motivated aggressions against human rights. Escapism (sometimes even exodus) feels like the only way to cope with how scared I am, and with every corner of life quickly being dissolved and overtaken by right-wing yelling, nature feels like the only escape. These vlogs are so helpful and always remind me that just outside, there's a timeless, permanent, and constantly changing ecosystem of bugs and a marsh and birds that nest outside my window. I loved your thoughts about imperfects. Thank you for sharing, and for your community!
This. I'm from the Philippines and i cannot understand the things happening now in our country, out politics and these kinds of videos are indeed helping me, us get through💯
I think something classic like an aspidistra would look awesome in that hand-hammered brass cache pot! I loved your wisdom about how trying to reach too much for perfection can sometimes get in the way of progress or our happiness. We only have so long in this life, we must make the most of the time we do have and not waste so much trying to get everything perfect :)
I LOVE the two toned gourd-shaped vase you have! Instead of drilling a hole in the bottom, consider puttting lava rock in the bottom of it to prop up a plastic pot within the vase. This allows you to keep the perfect height to hide the plastic pot. A lot of gesneriads do great in 2.5inch plastic pots, and will flower indoors while rootbound (imagine an Episcia throwing stolons off the side of that vase 😍😍). As a bonus you can wick water them from the rocks in the vessel! Thank you for another inspiring video, and good luck with all your projects!
Beautiful planters…Nice way to start the day 🙏 looking forward to seeing your plant choices for the containers. I agree the round pots are beautiful but the shape is challenging. You could insert a glass and use it as a propagation vessel. I really like the old buckets and the milking stool is awesome.
Do you have more videos on plant pots? I hope so. I love plant pots (and other handmade terracotta pots). I have a (small) collection. Most of them found in thrift stores. And I love glazed pots (or 'cache pots') in that special kind of greenish turquoise. One problem I have is: to find pots I like in the right sizes for my plants.
Such a lovely morning 🥰 lovely vessels and furry visitors 🐿️ I have a lovely vessel with a small opening that bows out to the sides. I have a large succulent in a nursery pot that fits perfectly. I've also thought of using it for some short fresh cut flowers. Excited for you to revitalize your new space! Enjoy the process!
20:44 can always use that pot as a "cover planter/pot" for a smaller nursey pot or something. But you're right, not every container necessarily needs a plant in it.
I enjoyed the relaxing video. One idea for the gourd pot, you could just use it as a cache pot, place a nursery pot/plant in there, so you don't have that problem with the shape for a total pot up. or de-pot...thanks for the video! Todd
Have you checked out Flock Finger Lakes channel? ua-cam.com/users/flockfingerlakes. There are lots of garden tours there. Pollinator garden tour, shade garden, Primula, rose, Memorial garden, etc.
How did you get your knowledge about colors and design and what would you recommend, as a way for a beginner to acquire this awareness, besides this video? 😊👍🏡
Are you going to be living in the meadow house? I thought you were going to be renting it out to someone? I guess I can’t wrap my head around renting a fully furnished, decorated house. Im sure I would have personal things that I would want in my new home, and I may not like or be able to take care of plants. Forgive me I’m old, is that how it’s done now days, just bring your clothes and toiletries ? Again I’m not being critical just trying to understand. Thank you Ms. Summer 🌸💚🙃
We're all at some point going to be living in the Meadow House because there aren't enough bedrooms here for everyone-and everything is under renovation. So the Meadow House will be the first space that will be completely done. We're hoping before August, but we'll see. Might take into August because Sander will be attempting to build the cabinetry for the kitchen.
In my home country of Romania it is pretty standard for rentals to come furnished. People don't always own cars or have a driver license, and it's tedious to move in and out of an apartment building with perhaps old small elevators. It's going to have just the basics, like an airbnb.

Thanks for taking us on the journey!
YES Brooke..
It's all about the journey. 🙂💙
Here I sit under my gazebo and feed the chipmunks while watching Summer, it feels like home.... like comfort🥰
These make me so homesick for the finger lakes, but they also bring back so many memories 🥰
Just wow!! So beautiful. Needed this video- felt like a calming reset to my morning ❤️ thank you Summer!
Definitely was a nice reset to mine as well.
Watching from India. I collected around 80 plants inspired from your work. Your work is phenomenal.
You are so very lucky to have this room, land, nature at your new home.

Glad they give you peace. :)
Or a side table. The colors are very nice. Green and the red with this white looks very good.
♥️ it’s a beautiful morning all around!

This is spectacular. Have you moved out of the city? Loved your apartment but this is heaven
Loved looking at all the items! Nice to meet the chippies. You are so amazing with animals.
Thank you for so much peace!
I loved everything about your video! Hey Chippy!

For the basket: you can line it with plastic foil. With some Leica you can plant direkt in it. If done this with golden pothos.
Loving the perfect vessels!
Oh, love the book pot! Super cool, never seen one of those before. Love the chipmunks, so cute!
Thanks for sharing the journey Summer!
Imperfections have innate beauty 💕thank you for this reminder. I really like old Mexican pottery for my planty friends 😊🌿🌱.
Love these chill videos!
I could see the two toned vessel holding silverware.
you can put a small nursery pot inside that pot without holes that is rounded. I have a similar one at my house.
Thank you for the Calm Summer
Loving this kind of content, strong spiritual vibe
Thanks for sharing your journey 🙏

Just BEAUTIFUL 🌿🦋🌻
This was just perfect🌾 So calming, relaxing on a beautiful morning🧘♀️🪴 Can’t wait to see what the place looks like🥰
Finally! I’ve always admired your planters and was hoppng for a video on them. Thanks summer!

"Turns out not all containers have to be planters" this is news to me 😂
totally enjoyed the "vessel vid" and your 'artist sensibility"...hagd

If you want to feel like you’ve got the vocabulary of a 4 year old child, listen to Summer Rain speak 😂♥️✌🏻
What's the shop link for the Doug T planter and the next planter with the patina on it?
what is your favorite small shop to buy pottery or planters in Brooklyn?
i get what you're trying to say about not wanting homes to feel like sterile

That Sander is a keeper!

Wonderful! (That two toned 'odd shaped' pot would look nice with a frog in it and a few branches added seasonally!) 🙂
Couldn't you make a living wall in the little house, use part of a wall
What's the music name?
I'll have to come back to you on that. Think I used a few different tracks when editing.
