It always impresses me how quickly you do your solutions, I hope one day to be half as good as you. At the moment I'm still learning and am using the Weapons Officer to plot mine (I'm currently playing SH 4 U Boat Campaign). Gonna watch your tutorials as I'm sure I'll learn alot. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated and I've said it before, I'll say it again, I'd love to see you do a whole campaign. I would especially like to see you do the Scapa Flow Mission as I'm sure you'd do much better than the others I have watched. They wasted torpedoes and only attacked 1 ship in a target rich environment with all the ships just sitting there.

Nice work again mate, another well planned and executed attack. I've learnt so much just watching a few of your videos. Quick question, when you need to cover a big distance in as short a time as possible, how long is it safe to run at flank speed?
It doesn´t seem to make any difference in SH5. You can go flank as long as you want. Your fuel consumption will go through the roof though.
@@Tonci87 ok thanks mate,I usually go 4 hours at flank speed. 2 at standard and keep rotating like that.
Hi Tonci! I have another question for you, you've already answered me twice, so let's go for the third!
Why do you always take speed measurements with the periscope on bearing 0 or 180? I mean, instead of turning the periscope, you turn the submarine.
I've been doing it moving the periscope and I've always come up with good speed measurements.
Is there any reason why you're doing it that way? Thank you so much!
The question is are you moving? If your periscope is not at 180° or 0°, and your submarine is stationary, then you can simply move the periscope.
If your submarine is moving however, your forward motion will lengthen the time it takes the target to pass through your periscope (if you are closing with the target).
How big the error is depends on your speed, and how much your periscope is turned from 0°. To get a precise measurement I make sure that my periscope is at 0°.
You can test this. keep your submarine moving forward on an intercept and have your periscope at 30°. Notice how many seconds the target will need to pass through the periscopes center. Now measure the same target, but have your periscope at 0°. The time will be shorter.
Your target is going faster than your first measurement would have made you think.
@@Tonci87 Ooooh that's true! That happened to me several times when I was trying to learn how to set up a firing solution with manual TDC! I would always mess up my speed solution and I wouldn't know why (I always measured it while moving at like 6knots)
Then I learned that I had to be stationary so that's what I've kept doing since then, that's why I've been getting good speed measurements...
I hadn't thought that as you say you can measure it while moving!

Are you using any additional mods other than ( I assume) the large TWOS mod? For example any environmental mods? I like the weather sounds you have and am curious to see if I can find them on subsim forum.
Hi there, thank you for the kind words. I have added the mods I use to the video description. There are no additional environmental sounds. The weather Sounds you hear are from TWOS. Bad news though. A few days ago I have accidentally lost my savegames for SH5. I still have to make a decision about what to do next. Maybe a bit of SH3 (It has better AI) or something else entirely.
@@Tonci87 Many thanks for the mods list, sorry if it was there and had not seen it before. That is bad to hear about yout SH5 saves, I know what that it is like, particularly after modding etc. SH3 videos would be great also ( also please list mods used for that : ) when you post), if you do make some it might be interesting to comment on strengths in sh3 vs sh5- I was not aware the ai was better in sh3. Thank you for your reply as well!
