So I don't know if you knew this yet but Pyrrha's character is based off of Achilles since she is the strongest and she's never lost a fight from what was said in the beginning thought it was pretty interesting in my opinion

Sadly the show stopped being good and properly tension filled with actual character growth that made sense and NOT based on one's sexual flavor of the week after V3. Now they're more interested in turning everyone gay for the sake of a loud minority. This was the peak of the show and no one can convince me otherwise.

Emerald can create illusions so she made yang think she was being attacked when in fact mercury just stood there, that's why the video showed that on the screen and why the rest of the audience saw it like that

Mercury threw the fight. Go back and rewatch. When Yang explodes he mouths the word "showtime" and when the fight is over and it shows yang's aura bar he left her with 1 hp before she would have been disqualified. She had 16, at 15 or under they're DQ'ed
I've always loved how Glynda is the one to stop and wait for Pyrrha. Despite being the tough one she still cares for her students. Very McGonagall of her.

This episode was truly one of the most highly intense moments I have ever seen. The fight scene was cruel injustice. So unfair, I almost had a Peter Parker moment already. Ha ha. Emerald's Semblance is individual mental hallucinations[1] - the ability to modify the sensory information in a person's head while their brain is processing it. She can make one (or more) see and hear things that aren't necessarily there. In other words, instead of generating an illusion that everyone nearby can see, she causes her target to hallucinate.
Emerald's target was Yang, she made her think that Mercury was attacking her, cause they knew that she was going to fight back. So, the real thing was what is sen on the television screen, and the imagínate thing is what we and Yang saw

There are two things I like pointing out to people who watch this episode.
1. 23:40. It's probably easier to make one person see something than a large group of people, while also affecting the cameras.
2. 20:38. As you can see, Yang has exactly 16% of her Aura left. She would lose at 15%. So how good is Mercury actually, if he can be that precise?
Prepare your heart for EVERYTHING!
This is like being in a post-apocalyptic society and finding a letter from just before the end of the world saying "it can't possibly get worse"
dont worry Kat, confusion is the appropriate response here. the next episode will explain everything that happened at the end.
now fun facts
Fact 1: Yang performs a Dempsey Roll to finish off Mercury in the match, similar to how she finished off Junior Xiong in the "Yellow" Trailer.
Fact 2: According to Shane Newville, series creator Monty Oum animated a "good portion" of the fight between Yang and Mercury. He is credited as a Lead Animator on the episode.
Fact 3: The full story told in the RWBY: World of Remnant episode "The Four Maidens" was originally to be included in this episode (when Pyrrha recounts the tale for Ozpin), but it was cut due to time restrictions.
To clarify this situation with Yang and Mercury, but to avoid any spoilers just recall to that one time during the fight of Coco and Yatsuhashi vs Emerald and Mercury, when Coco fought with with Emerald and saw Yatsuhashi while in reality he was alredy unconscious halfway across the arena.
Fun fact: The move Mercury uses against Yang is his kick from V2's opening. Also, Yang's barrage of attacks the same that she uses in the Yellow trailer.
This season might give you a heartattack XD
Kat may need to have someone nearby to administer resuscitation by the end of this Volume...

See Emerald has a semblance where she can cast illusions. They don't effect you by any means but it makes a lot of confusion to the enemy. She used that to fake the footage on the TV and make it seem like Merc was gonna handshake her and yang just breaks his leg. In reality, Merc tried to go for the kick porposefully and make yang go for the punch to the knee. Every time you hear a slicing WHOOSH out of nowhere, That's your clue that an illusion was just casted by Em.

I like how terrain's not a factor anymore in the finals of the tournament. Kinda reminds me of Final Stage on Smash Bros, or having no items fights when you and your friends really want to test your skill against each other. I love the Yang/Mercury fight (I mean, until the end. *sobs* ) It's such a cool concept. Fists vs feet. Their weapons are so similar. His boots and her gauntlets. And his double jump there to avoid losing by Ring Out is straight outta Smash. If I recall correctly, I think this is where you first see the visual effect telling you someone's aura is depleted, which is very important. Gosh Yang was within one point of losing by Aura Level. If you're gonna fight Yang, you better make sure she's down before she gets the chance to hit back.
When that Goliath turns its head towards the Colosseum, I remember Dr. Oobleck saying they were waiting...
*Watches Kat's reaction to the end of the episode.* Yep. *sigh* Definitely not going to make it. Volume III shook me to my core when I saw it for the first time. "Alright, calm down. We're fine. We're good. Everything is gonna be *fine!*" She's doomed.
Emerald's Semblance is the power of illusions..when you hear a SHWOOSH! sound out of nowhere, That's the illusion used
Remember the fight between Coco & Yatsuhashi and Emerald and Mercury? In the forest, Coco saw Yatsuhashi WHILE Yatsuhashi was being knocked out by Mercury. And a second later, he was gone...

Also, the reason that they didn't tell anyone since that would cause mass panic and, fear causing even more Grimm which wouldn't help, they literally have no choice but, to not talk about it.
Ozpin knows they're children and, acknowledges their abilities(, he let Ruby in because of her abilities(, perhaps some other reasons but, I think it's just at how well she wields "Cresent Rose")) and, due to the enemy he acknowledges their time as children will be short due to this(, he said this in volume two, episode one, "Food Fight", he tells Glynda to let the fight go, to which she says they're supposed to be defenders of the world, Ozpin says they will be but, then says that at that moment they were still children and, then says "So why not let them play the part?", "After all-- it isn't a role they'll have forever." as in they won't be kids forever), I don't think Ozpin would naturally be okay with kids fighting in a war since he says he wants them to act like children for as long as they can but, due to the enemy side pushing, he has to use them, it's like capture the flag, if the enemy pushes you either have to push back or, start playing defensively or, you risk losing your flag plus it's not like you can defend with one person and, grab the enemy's flag or, like a card game with a low card in your deck, you don't want to use the low card but, you often will have to eventually due to lack of other cards.
So, Ozpin pulled the "Make Pyrrha a God" card which is the most powerful in the deck.
"What are you doing to my stress right now??" Ha. Ahahahahaha! It begins.
