This is crazy, I’ve had my day one ps4 with this exact issue. It broke 4.5 years ago and for some reason I’ve kept it. I tried this method and now it’s working lol. Thanks man, you rock!🤘🏼
Worked like a charm!!! Thank you so much bro...you saved me from buying a new PS4. Mine was acting up so much, not starting up, shutting down in middle of game...I was about to buy a new one, but with the announcement of Google Stadia, I didn't want to invest so much. For the people asking about the washer size, I took out the screw and took it to the hardware shop. Bought 6 washers that fit the size. The shop didn't even charge me for those (that's India for you, I guess) I know it worked because my ps4 would beep and shut down Everytime after a cold boot and would come up only after the second cold boot. But ever since the washer fix, it boots up EVERYTIME. I am so happy, i can write a book about it, almost wrote a chapter here 😋
I saw videos saying that i needed a new power supply till i ran into your video, i couldn't find any washers at home so i used 2 bobby pins and hand tightened the screws.......and boom there it is turned right on. Thank you for your help, i hope it last forever because as far as i know u just saved me $40-$70 buck. Hope is long term. Thanks again
Worked. I had this same problem, so i took it apart. Reapplied new thermal paste, cleaned the heat sink and installed 2 washers each. Its been almost 8 months now and my ps4 still works perfectly
This works! My system refused to output video/audio unless I would put pressure on top of the system before firing it up. Got the kit, installed with 2 washers, and it's been firing up perfectly for 6 months. Thanks for this video and everything!

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK try this : when you remove the battery from your ps4 there should be 2 metal rods sticking up inside the ps4 where the battery was, they are very hard to miss. MAKE SURE that those 2 bars are SEPERATED, there are 2 slots in the battery for the 2 forks, sometimes they end up being too close together and end up going into the same input instead, put your finger in between them to make sure they separate and gently put in the battery. I HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU LIKE IT DID FOR ME!!
I’m having this issue right now. I took apart my ps4 to air dust it . Opened everything. Was watching a routine tutorial on how to do it. I did everything right and when I put it back. It just turns on for a second turn turns off.

I was about to go out and buy a new ps4 to replace it that very same day but came across your video instead. so happy.
So glad it's still working. The reason it works is that it puts additional pressure on the APU and the joints between the APU and motherboard. This helps to restore the connections that were lost.
Bro you are the best!!! Two washers worked and the BLOD on my older PS4 is gone and is now fully operational. Thank you so much!! You saved me sanity and money!!
I just cleaned my ps4 and then when I turned it on if turned off in a few second. Then I fixed the problem by seperating the two silver prongs under the power supply. Mine were bend and touching and they should be straight. Hope this helps someone out who has the same problem
Many thanks mate. You comment helped me solve my issue. I also just cleaned it and had the same problem. Your inputs worked and just in time for our happy hour in modern warfare 😂
If my powersupply has one of those solder points ripped off,and when I played it, the ps4 shut off and wouldn’t turn on, would it be the power supply or the motherboard

This has happened to me half a dozen times. I read on a psn forum that you bang it on its right side a few times and that worked for me every time. This method looks more reliable though. O_O
It's been over 2 years and my PS4 is still working after I ordered the washer mod and installed it using the video. I had no audio/video unless I put pressure on the top of the system before the fix, haven't had any issues after installing the washers. Thanks again!
Wow, that's great news! Glad it's working for you. I always tell people with this washer trick that it could last a few days or weeks or it could last years.
Worked for me like a charm :) My cat pushed a couple of metal candle holders off a shelf above my PS4 the other day and after these nice heavy hits on top of the box it wouldn't start up at all with the BLOD blinking. Took the top off bought a couple of thick washers from a store nearby and voila after putting the washers under and tightening the screws the whole thing works again like new. :) Thumbs up and keep up the good work TronicsFix!
Guys, if you cleaned your PS4 and have a problem getting the PS4 to turn on or it turns on then off, you may have put the power supply back in wrong. Make sure the two long metal pieces are straight and not bent to where it reaches the power brick. Not placing it back in correctly also may make it hard to put the other plastic back on and difficult to put the screws back in the PS4. Went through this myself. Hopes that's the case and you too can save your money.
It worked for me, before I would have to apply pressure to the bottom of the ps4 to get it to work, but this video shows why it needed that pressure, took 2 washers and placed them on both screws and it now works great now, thanks.
Old thread ... but so is my PS4 ;) Just wanted to send you a big THANK YOU. The washer fix worked, let's hope it keeps my toybox going for another while.
Hey guys if you have a warrantee and don't want to void it give your playstation 4 a good tap on top and flip it in its side to relieve pressure and get the parts moving.
TheDankPaster It voids the warranty. That's why they wouldn't do it. Send it in the Sony for a 100% fix instead of risking your warranty for something that might not work.
I had my warranty until yesterday, but as I couldn't claim it as PS4 was bought from another country and Sony has no support in my country, I just had to disassemble. Only used it for 4 months, then after turning off the console and unplugged it, left it for a day, and tried to power on the next day, it never turned on.. beep + blue light for a seconds, then nothing again until unplug and re-plug :/ Disappointed and heartbroken as hell :'(
This work for me but when I put the case back on the blue light started blinking, so I just cut a sun roof in the case where I had to put the washers, has been working for about 6 mouth's now. Thank you for showing me how to fix the problem you are the 👑 of Electronics
maybe could be the two prons from the motherboard, I just helped my friend on videocall because he removed the power supply to clean it and once he placed it back he bent one of the two connectors from the motherboard, so look after those two if are bent they don't match the holes of the power supply
to the guy that said his fan is working harder you are right, this is releasing pressure from the press clamp and causes the thermal transfer to break down, so eventually all that do this will end up with having to have it reballed due to the increased heat.
One washer per screw worked for me thanks broski! I also gave the old original PS4 a good thorough cleaning. Over time I Might need two washers then three washers but I just needed to buy some time since Christmas cleaned Out.
well thats just dandy ! nice to see that Sony hasn't learned a thing after the yellow death issue of ps 3.. although , this video looks like a bad contact problem , reballing would be where the gpu overheats and compromise the solder joints . just applying new heatsink compound wont work, this happens when it shuts down mid game , not at start up.
Thanks so much! I had to replace my buddy's HDMI port, but freaked out when I reassembled it and it wouldn't power on anymore. Turns out I just tightened that clamp a little too much!
I was having this issue but I have a ps4 slim. None of the fixes worked so I ordered a new power supply on ebay. I bought a set of security star bits at the hardware store and replaced it! So easy and it works great!!!!
I tried this and it didn't work... HOWEVER, I used the good old oven trick to reestablish the BGA connections and it worked! You have to put the motherboard in the oven for 7 min at 210°C on an aluminum foil at mid height. (Tip: remove the coin battery, and the detachable connectors before putting it in and set it to cool for 10-15 min).
I left the PS4 running with a game playing. A person in our household sees it and proceeds to unplug the power cord from the outlet (without exiting anything or turning off the PS4). Now I tried turning on the PS4 but it doesn't respond, either through the controller or the power button. The power button literally doesn't do anything; and if the PS4 is plugged in, the controller light blinks twice or thrice then stops as if it has turned on the PS4 already. (but when the PS4 is unplugged, it only keeps blinking) When I press the eject button, it only beeped once. I've tried various solutions around the internet such as holding the power button, replugging both power cord and HDMI, trying another outlet and power cord, and tilting it different ways. I was able to manually eject the disc inside, which causes the eject button to beep 3 times now. I've seen people say that it could be a power supply issue, so I went ahead and bought one online since the warranty is void already. After replacing the power supply, nothing changed. Still the same symptoms. Anyone here who can help me fix the PS4 or at least give me an indication as to what the problem could be?
Reballing is the better way to try and get it running again compared to just heating it up but at the same time lot's of the APUs on PS4s are faulty so it's not just the solder joints that are the problem
I DIDNT DO ANYTHING FOR ABOUT 6 MONTH SITTING AND DECIDED TO TURN IT ON AND PLUG IT AND BACK in .LET IT SET FOR COUPLE OF HOURS AND SUDDENLY TURN ON. THIS HAPPEN ABOUT 4 TIME DIFFERENT TIME ALREADY
@@dagagsnake3472 I just placed the washers in, still no luck. Did you have to try loosening the screws? Because sometimes the PS4 doesn't even turn on, and in the video he said maybe the screws are too tight...
I have the newest PS4 pro and had it where the blue light came on then went off and had to plug it in again for it to do the same thing. I had put 2 washers in between the clamp and heatsink and works like a charm, how is that possible? Because mine was practically brand new and I had it sitting on my shelf unplugged for a year and made sure it didn't get dusty at all. So it may not always be a power supply issue?
Ok so I had some washers, used them, and now the power will stay on but the blue light never turns white. It just pulses blue. I've tried many different things to fix this and nothing works. It won't go into safe mode, nothing. Do I need to have it reballed? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. This started because my ps4 got smashed (don't ask) and the hdmi port needed to be replaced, as well as the power supply. I got a used power supply and had he hdmi port replaced and carefully reassembled everything (I had to get a new shell for the console as well). I go to plug it in, power it on and after 1-2 seconds it clicked off. So like I said I used the washers and it worked. But now the "blod". Again thanks in advance for any help
Heey that still works!! My ps4 has 7 years already and I just had the on and off issue. Followed ur steps and manage to get it fixed by putting 2 washers on each side of the clamp! Thanks a lot! PS: that shirt cracked me up haha
Mine is very odd. Mine turns on and works most times but sometimes when I turn it on, it works fine until I start a game. Then it makes a real weird, fast low pitched beep and turns off. I have to wait a few minutes before it will turn on again and then it checks the hdd and always comes back fine, then turns back on. It may or may not be fine after this or it may do it again 2 or three more times before I can start a game. If a game starts, it will always stay on for hours and hours and never do this while playing. What do you suspect this is?
The PS4 I'm working on had the pulsing blue light that would stay on. It wouldn't go into safe mode and would just turn off after the 2nd beep. Swapped hard drives, still no safe mode. For whatever reason this method did the trick! This was after a extensive cleaning and new thermal paste but this washer trick worked. Luckily I had a few plastic washers from a PC build left to use.
Thank you, that solved my problem. Lets see for how long but I really appreciate the help and the quick video showing the differences to help with troubleshooting.
My ps4 boots into safe mode and doesn't turn off in saf mode . I tried reinstalling the system software and as soon as it loaded up it switched off again what causes this, is it a hard drive issue?
AB hai my ps4 turns and the turns off rigth after de blue light. but then I have to unplugged it off to do the same thing and turn off again. is it the power supply?
Mine has done this three time.first time it was a fan problem,2 I just rebuilt the data base.having the same problem right now and I'm going to try this method.thank you for the help
Now I've put the extra washers on. It turns on. Light goes white. PS4 restarts. I can play a game or Netflix for a few minutes but then the PS4 shuts off. Could it then maybe be a power supply issue?
Thank you for this vid it resolved the issue regarding not starting up/staying on, however now it runs louder than ever. Anyone else have this issue? Solutions?
Dude my refurbished PS4 Pro went hard for 2 years after purchasing and that was with me putting in a lot of hours on Fortnite. Then it randomly began shutting down. At first it would be a couple of hours in so I assumed it was an overheating problem but that was before learning it will give you an overheating warning if that is the case. Anyway I did a teardown to clean the fan, the heat sink which seemed to work for a while but not for good. So then I replaced the thermal paste and the SSD and most recently the thermal pads but the only thing that has changed is that it shuts down more frequently and sooner rather than later. That is after a couple of games of Fortnite maybe a little longer if I'm lucky. I've tried the washer fix also but to no avail! I'm starting to think maybe the APU is bad? How do I confirm that though? Any ideas please..🙏🙏
I’m really late, but I have the Destiny PS4 and it doesn’t have the part with the washers, and it does turn on and blink a very high pitched hissing for a few seconds so I know it’s not the PSU.
Hello. I've tried this today with no success :( I even tried placing 4 washers under each screw but couldn't tighten it. So reballing would be the best option for me?
Ive been trying this with a few different washer thickness and so far no luck. Just the eject will beep. I gave replaced the psu and gone through the process again with still no luck. Should I assume a re-ball or a new ps4 is my only chance here? thanks for any help.
Hello, I have a PlayStation 4. 1001 Turns off in 3 seconds, what's the problem? please help thank you Maybe I have the same problem, maybe it works for me, and I need to change the thermal paste I was skeptical about the power bloc alimentation, and now I think I'm the problem you have, thanks😘

to the guy that said his fan is working harder you are right, this is releasing pressure from the press clamp and causes the thermal transfer to break down, so eventually all that do this will end up with having to have it reballed due to the increased heat.
although if u want a quick fix so you can sell it on then for the short time yeah it's a fix of sorts.
Actually this increases the pressure. That's the point of the washers.
I have the power supply issue and I was wondering if there's any other way than buying a new power supply ?
Unfortunately, no. There is no other way.
@@Tronicsfix Hey there, I have the power supply issue as well, was wondering would replacing the power supply usually work?
I had 1 washer on each side but once I added 2, that thing worked. turned on and off perfectly. Thank you!!!!!!
What sized washer?
I just tried this and it works! thank you
One washer per screw worked for me thanks broski! I also gave the old original PS4 a good thorough cleaning. Over time I Might need two washers then three washers but I just needed to buy some time since Christmas cleaned Out.
This Actually worked. 2 washers I had in my kitchen drawer this whole time. FIXED IMMEDIATELY
well thats just dandy ! nice to see that Sony hasn't learned a thing after the yellow death issue of ps 3.. although , this video looks like a bad contact problem , reballing would be where the gpu overheats and compromise the solder joints . just applying new heatsink compound wont work, this happens when it shuts down mid game , not at start up.
This worked for me (for about a month). Now its dead again. Regardless, thanks for the tips.
Thanks so much! I had to replace my buddy's HDMI port, but freaked out when I reassembled it and it wouldn't power on anymore. Turns out I just tightened that clamp a little too much!
This really works! Thanks!
My ps4 was dropped on the floor so i tryed this four times. So dont give up after the first try.
This just happened to me too. What kind of washers did you use? Please lmk
Marcello I used two on each side. They must fit the screw but mine was not so big. Try some, take the scew to the store and try.
Jonte R I just realized I don't have that model. And I didn't realize until I took the ps4 apart. So I'm screwed. Thanks anyways man.
This is the first ps4. Do you have slim or 4k? Try search for other playstation. This is called "Blue light of death"
Jonte R I have the slim ps4. But I can't find anything. I don't know what else to. I believe I have the 12xxxx model or something like that
I was having this issue but I have a ps4 slim. None of the fixes worked so I ordered a new power supply on ebay. I bought a set of security star bits at the hardware store and replaced it! So easy and it works great!!!!
@@Cindeigh I have the same issue with silm , u change the power supply and work fine for u ?
I tried this and it didn't work... HOWEVER, I used the good old oven trick to reestablish the BGA connections and it worked! You have to put the motherboard in the oven for 7 min at 210°C on an aluminum foil at mid height. (Tip: remove the coin battery, and the detachable connectors before putting it in and set it to cool for 10-15 min).
Narvalo i tried it and my whole microwave exploded now they are some zombies in my town eating my friends and family what kinda monster R you
I told you to remove the coin battery tho
Narvalo ooooow this is invasion will cost me millions after the government know what ive done
Ahaha
Narvalo NO IT RUINED MY PS4 AND MICROWAVE
THANK YOU!!!! I thought my ps4 was dead and gone. But oh, It traveled on that road too long. Anyway, it's working again now so thank you!!!
Did you fix this? Was it HD corruption?
Reballing is the better way to try and get it running again compared to just heating it up but at the same time lot's of the APUs on PS4s are faulty so it's not just the solder joints that are the problem
I DIDNT DO ANYTHING FOR ABOUT 6 MONTH SITTING AND DECIDED TO TURN IT ON AND PLUG IT AND BACK in .LET IT SET FOR COUPLE OF HOURS AND SUDDENLY TURN ON. THIS HAPPEN ABOUT 4 TIME DIFFERENT TIME
ALREADY
@@eduardolazaro9166 Mine already did it twice and it can’t turn on again now
@ariqzaqawali1071 yea, it's weird. My dont turn on anymore
ahahahah after binge watching all the recent videos its fun to watch this one where he's awkward, low energy and looking to the side of the camera.
Never ever work on a Console (or anything) connected to a live power line!
AFTER AROUND ONE MONTH MY PS4 FIXED! THIS SOLUTION WAS EFFECTIVE BUT I PUT ONLY ONE BIG METAL WASHER AND NOW 4TH DAYS AND NO PROBLEMS THANK YOU BRO
is your PS4 going til this day? :D about to try this fix out on mine which died months ago
@@nero_shadows yes and playing more than 6 Hours every day
@@dagagsnake3472 sicc man I hope this fix will work for me as well :) and hope yours will hang around even longer bro. cheers!
@@nero_shadows if its not working keep trying til work its like that .. for me after some tryies its work
@@dagagsnake3472 I just placed the washers in, still no luck. Did you have to try loosening the screws? Because sometimes the PS4 doesn't even turn on, and in the video he said maybe the screws are too tight...
my ps4 comes on for about three to five minutes before shutting off.
Have you been able to fix it?
mines is doing the same thing did u figure out how to fix it?
That sounds sort of like it's overheating, just a guess though.
My fix was adding a new fan. Haven’t had that issue since the replacement
Everyone I fixed the problem, dont fear all my sheep for I am your shepherd that will lead you into the light!!!! I went to argos and got a pro....
Guys u r truely livesavers , thxs for share with us simple solutions I really appreciate !
Glad it helped!
i've tried everything, and it finally worked thanks to you!!!!!
Glad you got it working!
So it may not always be a power supply issue?
what do you think the problem is if it beeps but no blue light?
power supply issue most likely
Thank you i was worried i was going to have to drop 300 a year befits ps5 release you helped me bunches💪
Big facts. I was high key sad a lil bit
Having this same problem with PS4 pro. Any suggestions for that?
It worked with mine so i recommend this to everyone
What size washer do I buy?
Heey that still works!! My ps4 has 7 years already and I just had the on and off issue. Followed ur steps and manage to get it fixed by putting 2 washers on each side of the clamp! Thanks a lot!
PS: that shirt cracked me up haha
I opened my PS4 and there wasn’t even a metal plate in it 🙆🏻♂️
Mine is very odd.
Thanks man I did this but had to hit the side of my ps4 than it worked 😂
The PS4 I'm working on had the pulsing blue light that would stay on. It wouldn't go into safe mode and would just turn off after the 2nd beep. Swapped hard drives, still no safe mode. For whatever reason this method did the trick! This was after a extensive cleaning and new thermal paste but this washer trick worked. Luckily I had a few plastic washers from a PC build left to use.
Thank you my brother!
You're welcome!
Thank you, that solved my problem. Lets see for how long but I really appreciate the help and the quick video showing the differences to help with troubleshooting.
+Juan Luis Perez Glad that helped! Hope it lasts a long time!
Juan Luis Perez how long did it last... 👍
How long it last?
@@aka8178 it's still working
How long It last?
Que tanto tiempo te funcionó?
totally worked for me thank you
Ty so much i, i got really lonely and sad because my ps4 didnt work but now it works because of you!!! :))
what size are the washers exactly?
+Jeffrey Page Did you ever figure out what size the washer were?
+Aviator Jenn nope I just tried all different ones ... my GPU was shot so this method didn't work no matter what I tried
Jeffrey Page
i just put 2 m6s on each screw - it seems to have worked.
M6
Thanks it worked and your washers only cost me $6.99 and other companies wanted $20 just for washers thanks so much tronics fix
Glad it worked!
Omg bros it works thank for this video bros thank u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😂👍🏼🙏🏼
My ps4 boots into safe mode and doesn't turn off in saf mode . I tried reinstalling the system software and as soon as it loaded up it switched off again what causes this, is it a hard drive issue?
i finally fixed that was powersuply issue
AB hai my ps4 turns and the turns off rigth after de blue light. but then I have to unplugged it off to do the same thing and turn off again. is it the power supply?
Thanks man you save my life with this hack. Keep it on. 👍
What if when u do that and the light turn red please respond 🤧😔
It probably needs cleaned. It's overheating
i notice there is some foil under the clamp, mine doesn't have that
There's no foil under the clamp on any PS4 model. There is a metal plate under this one. On the 12xx model the clamp is under the metal plate.
? Tightening screws fixes issues, what?
It puts pressure on the cpu/gpu and joins the broken solderings.
Mine has done this three time.first time it was a fan problem,2 I just rebuilt the data base.having the same problem right now and I'm going to try this method.thank you for the help
Good luck!
Now I've put the extra washers on. It turns on. Light goes white. PS4 restarts. I can play a game or Netflix for a few minutes but then the PS4 shuts off. Could it then maybe be a power supply issue?
That's doubtful. It's likely that the APU joints are bad.
Thanks alot, this has been very helpful, now and certain its my power supply
Wow 8 years ago.😮
Lol, that was a little while ago!
You can always try to find someone to do a reball but there's no way to know how long that would last even if it worked
thanks a bunch!! totally worked. (used some old washers, didn't really matter what size ring. Don't tighten too much)
+Mario Colindres Glad you got it working!
Thank you this worked for me, such a simple fix. Not sure why or how it works but I'm happy.
Thanks man I thought this wouldn't work but I guess I was wrong u saved my PS4 bihh. I subscribed and liked 👍🏽
hi , thanks for the ideas on fixing my ps4, they really have elpt, keep up the good work
Glad this has helped!
Thanx bro i almost freaked out man ... this is awesome brother😁
Can you do a video about the ps4 cuh1215a powerbutton fix? I cant get into safe mode because of the missing button
I’ve had that issue before and if you take a paper clip unfold it and slide it up under the chip till you hear the beep then hold it there till the second beep may take several tries but should do the trick!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 congratulations, excellent work
Excellent video and guide. Will give this a try next week
Thanks! Good luck.
