Based on my experience with united nations one need to engage much with others organizations first in order to gain and get exposure that could possibly help you climb the ladder to professional position when you join UN. I really appreciate the video and though I was one in the system still need to learn more like the computer base assessment, which after me.
I have been working with UN 5-8 Years and everything working with connections if you have friend or family member could help you to pass the exam and interview or if you could have someone in UN before friend it will intervene you to get a job -all i experience like asian collecting each other special phililipines -Africans and US -EU as well -all what its say its not true at all- even never you worked in UN even no Experience if you have someone to help you there it will be i am 100% i have seen and experience during UN
I have my first UN interview in a week with the organization for migration (IOM). It took 5 weeks from application to getting the interview email. I couldn't believe when I got the email. I've applied a few times for admin jobs but of course never heard back.
@@Ali_maj I never saw this message. I got the interview because I matched the job 100%. The job was working at an airport helping refugees who arrived to my country. I had the right experience because I worked for airlines. I was already doing the same job and I worked at the airport they were hiring for. That's how I got my interview. You have to currently be doing the same job at the same workplace.
I have been applying to UN with my Degree thinking it was of an added advantage over other candidates when they asked for Diploma or Secondary school Certificate, I didn't know i was increasing chances of being disqualified. un till I have gone back to do Diploma and getting shortlisted now.
Why it feels that the job posts they are posting are just to show that the organisation is hiring. While in reality, everyone is hiring their family and friends
Hey! I was wondering if you could help answer a few of my questions? Do they hire language students? I'm British/French but studied Arabic/German and also speak French. Which department would most likely hire me with a languages profile? I am interested in working for UNICEF & UNCHR. Also some other questions... - [ ] If I am enrolled to study law but have deferred - do I count as a student? - [ ] Is the best way into the UN through an internship? - [ ] Can I apply within 2 years of graduating or do I have to get the internship within two years of graduatin? - [ ] what kind of thing can i do after the internship has ended if i won’t have enough experience for most jobs - it seems the only option is another internship? - [ ] Is it harder to get the internship or direct job?
Hi! Thank you for your videos. Can you please explain about the rostering process that is followed? How does a complete outsider who has no prior experience with UN approach this entire rostering process. Thanks
Do you think this can apply also for UN translators and interpreters ? I feel that interpreters department specially hiring process works a little diferent than the rest of the UN but what do you think? ^^ thats the area I dream to apply someday. My mother tongue is Spanish, im from south america and lived 2 years in China. My bachelor is Chinese Language and now im preparing to do my master studies in English- Spanish translation and interpretation. But I know is hard to achive and many people want to be an ibterpreter at the UN. Thank you so much for your videos, its helping me a lot to prepare 🙏🏻❤️
I'm planning to pursue my bachelor's I International relations. Can anyone please tell me what kind of job opportunities I can get right after university or what kind of experiences I need to apply for the UN. TIA
Hi there. I am about to do an internship at the IDB and later I am supposed to do a PhD in latin american studies at a USA university. What I want to know if a phd is something valuable to get a position at any of those multilateral organisms? Or would be seen as too academic for that kind of jobs. I hope someone could help me with this because is a decision to make. May be its better to just have a master's as I have now and no go ahead with a phd 🤔
It depends on the qualifications requirements defined in the vacancy notice. Normally a PhD is required for specialized and technical roles. And might also be useful in consulting. A master's degree, however, is essential for most international professional roles. The UN system is vast and complex. Fluency in French and/or Arabic and the desire to work in hardship duty stations, emergencies and post-conflict/disaster contexts also would also be important.
Hi can you please talk about the CV does the inspira website require an ATS friendly CV? Also just how to boost the application with the CV. Thank you in advance
I am invited to interview for operations positions. P2? Any example of Competence-based interview questions on Procurement and, budgeting, finance would be helpful.
I've worked in supply chain industry( production planning) for 10 years US Mainly manufacturing field. Is there any chance i can apply and work for UN? Thank
So I am a little curious in working for UNICEF and I am studying Architecture right now. Would that Architecture degree be accepted at the UN or UNICEF? Are there any jobs that relate to that degree?
Hy can you make a video for a permanent resident or usa citizen who wants to work in un. Are they entitled to the same benefits the other national gets or not? It’s so confusing. Some says have to renounce the green card to work in un?
Hi! I’m currently in 1st year pursuing a Bachelors in CS and I’m planning to do masters in Machine Learning and I think there’s a lot that technology can do to help solve a lot of major world issues and it can do it fast. I wanna work in a field where I can use tech for social good but I’m worried I won’t find very interesting jobs in the UN with my background and people with a background in Humanities will more likely get interesting roles. Am I right in thinking so? What responsibilities do technical jobs offer? Also, It was a great video!
Thanks for the video..I applied for a G5 job with a UN Agency, did the first written test and was invited for the panel interview. In the event that I pass the interview what chances do I have of getting the job since I do not have a work permit and neither am I a resident in the country of the assignment
Hi, can you please tell me what a security or international security focuz will get you in the UN , cuz i am more interested in the defence and military side of things like in the UNSC.

Unfortunately, I am not a huge expert on this. I do know some technical professionals who worked as P staff though, usually in measurement and evaluation.
