    There is so much planning that goes into this, very interesting to see you take care of every detail at every stage. Will keep an eye on your progress. Cheers

      Actually the biggest pieces will be done by Jeff and Bill . Because I have been there so many times I just serve up reminders.
      The first six times when I sponsored and rode I did most of the logistics but the this year and last year where I just rode the bike the owner does most of the work.

    I can see you're well on the way with all the planning, I hope everything else falls into place in time for the record run. Wishing you all the best when the time comes 🙏

      Michael it usually takes more than a year to get a motorcycle and everything together for Bonneville. In order to get it done in seven months on a very limited budget we narrowed our focus on a very small target. We will need to get lucky to hit the bulls eye.

    FCCR is an expert logistician. He gets it done right and on time.

    I’ve obviously never had to plan for something like this, but I have planned some trips. Sometimes I think the planning is as much fun as the actual riding!!!

      You have to take everything with you for Bonneville because it is in the middle of nowhere and seems like there is always something you left behind that is needed.
      Crews share parts and equipment whenever needed.
      One my Air Force jobs in Belgium was to develop wing Battle plans for the Ground Launched Cruise Missiles.

      @@flatcapcaferacer I’m sure there’s a lot of sharing at the salt flats, which is fantastic!!!
      That kind of planning in Belgium had to be stressful!

      Interestingly the time in Belgium probably the best assignment I had. The people and my coworkers made it a pleasure.

      @@flatcapcaferacer nope, you've filled your quota I'm sure.
      My wife is terrified I have even thought about riding again . Something to do with prior brain bleed and six back surgeries. In her defense, this would be a very bad place to ride. I know, I'll Tell her I need to go to Bonneville!

      @@rogerwilliams2629 Roger life tends to whittle down opportunities as we get older for sure. Sometimes opportunities slowly disappear and other times they are gone overnight. My intention is to continue pursue my dreams until my body says no. I'll admit to some doors quickly closing.

    You're very organised, but then you have to be with that amount to do!.
    What the ECU map , closing the throttle bodies? not quite sure what that means or achieves? It's starting to get exciting now already... What a wonderful experience.

    • @flatcapcaferacer
      @flatcapcaferacer  5 місяців тому

      Most if not all fuel injected bikes today have the throttle bodies in top gear start closing to 70ish percent at certain rpm even when you are holding the throttle wide open. Some bikes will eventually get to redline even with throttle bodies closing to 75%.
      When running wide open for three miles the the bodies closing to 75% limits the amount of speed the bike will get in 3 miles.

    your a mad man! i sure would like to give it a whirl! i think i would be good up to about 199 miles an hour, after that, i would leave up to you! lol

      I've got close to 200 mph a handful of times but we just couldn't crack it. This bikes speed will be limited by aerodynamics and the tire speed rating. The most usual thing to get use to is running wide open for 1.5 minutes on surface not much different than hard packed snow on bad days and wet sand other days.

    You're definitely not short of courage heading back to the salt with a new Rocket 3. Just wondering if mid foot controls fitted to the R would be better at speed compared to the forward foot controls?

    • @flatcapcaferacer
      @flatcapcaferacer  5 місяців тому +2

      Funny thing this might not be the last Rocket 3 I ride out there.
      I think the "R" foot controls would probably be better. After the trip to Mexico and test run we will know if the "R" controls will be needed to achieve the speed goals.
      Going out there is always a balance of what we want versus what we need and can afford.

    Amazing how many trips you make to Mexico just to test these bike, lol...

      It's only a 1.5-day drive there 20 minutes to test and 1.5-day drive back. I really really should have rode the last bike first.
