    Yeah those are nice, but I have a sound bar from Target mounted above my very tall fireplace. Above that is my 46" Insignia TV. TVs belong above fireplaces. Anyway my sound bar has a box thing that sits on the floor for subwoofer bass. It's amazing. I mean you can hear the bass from almost three, perhaps four feet away! Your camera looked to be about 2 feet away from the Perlistens during the review. Looks like Target wins again!

    Good review Shane. Sounds like a killer sub! I’m typically a sealed subwoofer guy, but I could definitely see myself going push pull for my next subwoofer upgrade. I’ve heard great things about them over the years.

    • @C--A

      The Perlisten D212s subwoofer is a sealed subwoofer, as are all Perlisten's current subwoofer models.
      The grills on the sides aren't bass reflex vents. It's a sealed subwoofer as confirmed by Perlisten. And also James Larson of Audioholics.
      The Audioholics review of the bigger flagship Perlisten D215s. Explains more in depth what those grills on the sides are for.

  • @TokeBoisen
    @TokeBoisen 2 роки тому +4

    Nice review, small note though: It's not really a push-pull-configuration, because they are wired in opposite polarity, due to the way the drivers are mounted (which looks like a push/pull). When the front driver moves in, the bottom driver moves "out" (meaning it also compresses the air in the cabinet). They function just like dual-drivers in several other subs, effectively doubling surface-area, but because they move in opposite polarity, any non-linearities in the drivers' motion in one direction is cancelled out by the movement of the other driver in the opposite direction. I realise this is probably not something that fits in the video.

    If I read the audioholics review correctly, you got it wrong on one point: their push-pull configuration do fire in the same direction, relative to the cabinet, i.e. when the front one go out, the bottom go out.
    Also, for such high-end and high performing subwoofers, I think it would be worth to try them in true stereo configuration with a higher crossover point to reinforce the localization. Particularly when you drive them with a Trinnov where this configuration can be tuned exactly.

I should also add, I have never herd a truly good subwoofer, so these SVS subs will be my first attempt into boosting my bass output/first experience using subs beyond the cheap ones Samsung includes with their sub woofers, or a sub woofer we got as part of a computer audio system, which wasn’t all that great either….

      The Perlisten speakers use Textreme carbon fiber woofers. That's just the way thin ply carbon fiber looks like. The Perlisten speakers come with speaker grills.

      specialformula14 thin ply carbon fiber always looks like that. It's not a gimmick, or something to look different trendy. It needs to be manufactured in a certain way, its physically impossible for Textreme woofers to look like regular carbon fiber woofers.
      The company who makes the Textreme Thin Ply carbon fiber woofers also do carbon fiber for Formula One teams, commercial and military aircraft. There the best in the business, have a separate audio division.
      The Textreme woofers on the Perlisten S7t towers etc is actually the first version. Second improved version of Textreme woofers - Textreme Metamodal is on the excellent Ex Machina active studio monitor's.
