In addition to being a reference to the god Crom, Kron refers to the Unix command 'cron,' which is used to schedule recurring commands and program use.
I still have my VHS of the original UK broadcast of this episode (14th August 1997) and the rebooting sequence is identical to the DVD. No weird pink effect. Maybe they did that when the episode was re-run?
Also, at several points during the game Backup's icon is incorrect - the arrow is pointing down instead of up.

I always had headcanon that Enzo started to just go by Matrix because the announcer in the game he lost in, calls him that. At the same time he tried to push himself to fight Zaytan. Though also added to the fact he was trying to put "Enzo" behind him.
I feel the same way. Matrix uses some (refined) techniques from his fights in Immortal Konflict, too.

Actually, I believe Wise One is voiced by Ian Corlett rather than Michael Donovan. I can make out Ian Corlett's voice from him more. However, Donovan Does voice Hard Boot & the user from the 2nd game in here.
Also, odd. I kind of thought Frisket simply rebooted as a Doberman due to the colors...
