  • We met up with with ‪@hyoh-wu‬ along with Sara Long Legs & Nate for an adventure in the Cabinet Mountains. This is a route that I've done once before 4 years ago. Back then the fire smoke was covering up all of the views. Would we get to see them this time?
    Join us and find out!

Uncanny, I do the exact same thing with the sunglasses. Wear them until I can't see and then take them off and say hot damn, I still got 20 minutes of daylight left!
Everytime you say Sarah Long Legs, I just crack up. Perfect nickname.
Another great video, thanks for posting and sharing, etc.

Thought those sunglasses was just Travis being one cool outdoor dude 😜. Guessing any bears have first dibs on the wild blueberries. What a great weekend outdoor getaway spot to go backpacking in! And this is the right kind of post hike burger treat!!

Great video! The view up Swamp Creek towards Wanless is arguably the best in the Cabinets! Thanks for sharing. Hike on!

Totally agree! We came down from Lost Buck Pass (video coming) and you can actually see Wanless from there.

Racing the daylight on the first day sounds like some of my trips. The views on the second day were fabulous. It's always frustrating when someone else has your planned campsite, but in this case you ended up with a nice campsite. Great video Travis!

Awesome ridge views. Bear Lake had a spectacular setting. Love how you always manage to spend time in your camps to appreciate the scenery and enjoy the camaraderie amongst your hiking party. Thanks for sharing.

13:34 Watched Jesse’s video of the same trip. I sometimes wonder why he always seems to be caught out in the mountains with a full pack and no rain gear. I think this explains it.

He has to have room for costumes so rain gear had to go!

What a difference a few days makes on the weather. We were up at Revette on Thursday night and with all the dry wind, things had really dried out. Definitely did not want to risk a campfire, though the only other party at the lake went ahead and had one. Could see their smoke blowing pretty good any flare up would’ve been tough to extinguish.
Wanted to do Cliff Lake on Labor Day, but the Government Mountain Fire had the entire Rock Creek drainage closed off. Gave me a good excuse to hike up Swamp Creek though. Only met one other party at the Engle crew memorial. And they were on their way out.

I'm still hoping to get out one more time. The colors will be peaking in a week or so here in the rugged Appalachians. But I have a couple of jobs to finish first so we'll see. You know how it goes, brother....I'm taking what they're giving cuz I'm working for a living.
