I’d love to make the first move commander games. However, we all know if I hit Henry across the table for one damage on turn 2, “just to get some chip damage in” and “get the game going”, he’s taking that grudge to the grave.
I've found the more I do that, the less salty people get. "Joe's aggro on turn 2, as usual." Become the reason people start running one-drop creatures.
Because that is the optimal move. If you always treat the being targeted first as a grave affront that will cost whoever hit you the game... people tend to stop attacking you first.
You have to work people out of it. When they start talking that sort of dumb shit, shrug and tell them game on. You'd like to spread out your attacks as warranted. You'd like to engage with threats as they emerge. But if they want a war that's their choice, not yours, because you will not be villainized for taking a reasonable attack with your two mana 1/1. But you take every chance to point out what action you could take to stop the person from winning, if only you hadn't had to spend that interaction on whatever dumb shit the person who declared war played. But be the bigger player. Offer them the opportunity to back down every now and then. Before long they'll take the truce. This is best done with highly interactive control decks. I like Muldrotha for it. I can spread my interaction and removal over the entire game and try to keep everyone on a level playing field, or I can pick the player who decided to be stupid and petty and spend every single land drop Strip Mining them and cycling back removal spells over and over until they run out of permanents. And the rest of the table will let me. I'm not a threat to them, what do they care? At worst you'll ruin one game, but you'll stop them from ruining every one of yours.

He's SUCH a fun Commander. I had a buddy who ran a deck with him for months on end, I played in a pod with him twice a month for damn near a year. He outright won very few games, but he was the most active player at the table most of the time, and he was enjoying the hell out of it. I built a deck for him simply because I wanted to have fun like he was having. My deck doesn't win very many games either, but I am consistently having the best time.
I've played this as an Eldrazi Stomper for years, but mine moves slow to start. My buddy played R/G Omnath, and would be ramping and an immediate threat almost every game. Just about the time they blow his board up and he almost bolts the table to death from all the elementals dying, I start dropping bombs for free with nothing to do against them, especially with anything that gives your creatures flash.
As a Lord of Riots enjoyer I only have one thing to add. Why worry about who's getting hit first when you can simply hit everyone at once? How? With beautiful cards like, night market lookout, spear spewer, nettle drone, infectious horror, stormfist crusader, spawn of mayhem and my favorite, cryptolith fragment.
I roll a die when I play Rakdos, not because I cant decide but because defying all reason and letting the suspense of random chaotic chance is its own kind of wonderful.
May I suggest New Rakdos, the coin flip guy? Because sure, I’ll ping the table, but if I’ve just got a flyer or a little fear guy or something I’m just gonna start hitting someone with it. No rolling for it. Pure and malevolent.

This guy in a Megatron deck would be crazy. Imagine your opponents lost 10 life, Megatron gains 10 colorless mana and Rakdos makes your creatures cost 10 less 😱
Megatron has white right? If so you can add the man Brion Stoutarm (I hope I wrote the name correctly) to the mix for some more damage after they already did their thing.

He’s a fantastic chaotic commander! I run him and the deck that almost never wins, but it does like 80% of all damage dealt in the game. Which to me is the most fun part of magic.
Probably my favorite commander deck I own. It always puts a big target on my back, especially since most of my early damage is pinging the whole table at once, but it’s so satisfying being the threat at the table.
Okay, counterpoint: Say you'll roll a die to determine who to attack but don't specify which side means what, then attack who you wanted to anyways while staring them down.
Fun little interaction with this. Creatures cost 1 less when your opponent attack each other so if you have a way to cast creatures with flash you get free tax evasion
This is why "War Crimes" needs to be deck archetype. You take that fun loving death cult of Rakdos, and you mix it with fiery army of boros and you get "Hey, you wanna see me blow up this building? You wanna see me do it again."
You can use rakdos in combination with colorless creatures and global damage affects like bump in the night to combo off, either shitting out a ton of eldrazi in the same turn or storming off utilizing black card advantage and free spells to swing for lethal in a single turn.
My brothers first commander deck was Rakdos. He would pick on whoever was behind/defenceless so he could go to war with whoever actually had a boardstate. His catchphrase was "poke for 6" and then all hell would brake loose. He didn't even care if he died in the process cause somebody was gonna die when the math resolved.
"Do you wanna play the game? Yes? Stab someone" built my Kardur deck with this exact thinking in mind. So much time spent durdling when people could be getting attacked, chop-chop people!

We did a gift exchange last Christmas, and you had to build a Commander deck for a specific someone, but you didn't know who was building one for yourself. Least known out of the group, I was gifted a budget Lord of Riots deck. It is the most fun I've ever had playing.
I had a Rados' Robot Riot deck where I had as few color pops outside of really high power value guns like helkite tyrant, lord of the void, est. And it was hilarious t1 memnite into a t3 rakdos. T4 a helkite tyrant and walking balista

This commander is no joke. I’ve been trying to build a viable cedh version for a long time now and I think Hoarding Broodlord gets us there. Get the discount on dragon, use it to grab saw in half, make two dragons and get two cards w their ETB’s; sacrifice/burnt offering and Peer into the abyss. Tap a token to convoke your sac ritual sacrificing dragon token to create 8 mana. Tap the other to help pay peer into the abyss and draw half your deck w mana floating. Usually finishing w Ancestral statue or cloudstone curio w an impact tremors effect Pretty consistent turn 4 wins but it’s dropping the nastiest hate bears in the game as it goes; void winnower, sire of insanity, oppo, Dauthi, and wandering archaic to name a few. 🖖nice video. You should play cedh. There will be no dice rolled for attacks lol
I had one gem-game with this commander where in last ditch effort i killed one of two last oponents and with overall dealt damage casted Maga, Traitor to Mortals on the second guy with X equal his life. All in one turn. Damn that was satysfying.

Krenko, Mob Boss is proof that mono-red can be viable. Unfortunately, Goblin Tribal has a habit of amassing a horde, and not doing anything with it. However, with goblin powers comes goblin brain, and you will quickly lose track of how big your dudes will get. (speaking as a former Krenko player)
I built him. Nasty lil decl with tons of free damage, incodental damage and existence damage. Then i added the artifact creatures and eldrazi... he is VERY fun but tended to hit a cap early and then get board wiped, leaving him with 0 recovery. 11/10 fav guildmaster and demon

My favorite combo in my Rakdos deck is Emrakul, the Promised End, mindslaver someone have them cast a spell and counter it with Mages' Contest and have them pay all their life into it

White commander that you can't cast unless you have gained exactly 3 life this turn. Make him gain you 3 life every time you cast a spell.

My favorite combo in my Rakdos deck is Emrakul, the Promised End, mindslaver someone have them cast a spell and counter it with Mages' Contest and have them pay all their life into it
I love playing this guy in a robots deck. It's hillarious that on turn 4 I Tim you choke slam you with rakdos and the. Puke my entire hand onto the table
