    Another detailed straightforward winner. Hilarious NSW blip. Turns out we have the B58 in common after all. I have an x3 m40i. Your channel needs to blow up

    If you’re modified, I suggest you put a little thicker oil , 0w20 is for factory spec I’d say 0w30 or 5w30 would be better.

      Agreed, depending on the application. Particularly if you’re driving the car on track or in really hot weather a lot. However I only street drive and my oil temp has never budged in my normal driving. Plus I deal with freezing temps half the year so thinner oil works better there.

      I don’t know your Klimate there but here, in Germany we also have on winter time up to -20 degrees… but here is the biggest B58 community, almost everyone is on 5w30 and almost 90% tuning workshop recommendations are Ravenol 5W30 VST or RUP. I myself am also on that for more than 70k Kilometers.
      Very nice video explained from the step 0 until the Finnish. 😊

      There is no reason to use a thicker oil on the street. The engine is designed to take 0w20 or 0w30, use whichever is cheapest near you.

    So as well as resetting the engine oil on I drive. Should we be adding a service entry to the I drive system to show we have done an oil service?

      I don’t believe there’s a way to do that without some sort of other dealership software but I could be wrong

    Using a torque wrench to loosen? 🤷‍♂️

    • @mevans313
      @mevans313  3 місяці тому

      Yes, not great practice. Didn’t have a breaker bar at the time. Fun fact, that same torque wrench was used to strip my oil pan threads because it never clicked to say it was torqued. Wonder how that happened..Learn from my mistake lol

    use a higher weight oil than 0w-20...5w-40 is also BMW approved (Longlife-01). 0w-20 is only used in the states to meet CAFE requirements. 0w-30 and 5w-40 is filled from the factory in Europe

    Hi, I have question, when draining oil, you remove one cover, and there is another one black, is it metal?

    • @mevans313
      @mevans313  10 місяців тому

      There are no metal covers to remove

    • @tituxa3874
      @tituxa3874 10 місяців тому

      Yes I know, I'm just asking if that another cover that does not need to be removed is metal?@@mevans313

    I got a break fluid service light at 40k miles, how much is that usually?

    • @mevans313
      @mevans313  2 роки тому +1

      I had mine done for $100-120 USD at an independent shop. Forget exactly how much. Wasn’t bad.

      I'm having mine done right now actually, bmw quoted around 200 for a full flush and recommends every 2 years apparently

      I’ve been using this oil for the last 15k miles or so (obviously not on one oil change). No complaints really.

    Hi please reply .. i went to an Indy Garage And The guy changed my oil But the oil filter He didnt Put first the the filter in the cap and click it in , he put the filter right to the oil filter house and then put the cap and tighten it down, is it still good?

    • @mevans313
      @mevans313  2 роки тому

      If you’re concerned I’d just unscrew it and make sure it’s properly seated. Should only take you a couple mins if you have the right tools. I’ve never seen it done that way, but I suppose as he tightened the cap down it could’ve clicked the filter into place depending on how it sits in the housing. If I were you I’d check just to be sure.
