    / discord Welcome to my channel everyone,
    Good evening , Xcom 2 is finally here! We will push fighting this Alien threat for quite a while. I plan on playing through to the end of a normal game to learn for myself how the game works. After normal we move to a higher difficulty and play until we can finish an ironman game.
    With the community mods available this will extend how many different runs we accomplish. I will take on some of the challenging mods and will also be coming back every so often for the DLC's.
    Now i am debating with myself how much i can accomplish before either DS3 or the Division releases, those will be some of my future titles on my channel. but considering i now have 400 hours into Enemy within, Xcom 2 will probably get a similar treatment.
    As always my goal is to learn enough to share tips that will help others clear this game, considering that only 27% of players had finished Enemy within on steam. This time we need to up those odds, so that others can appreciate the game as it should be. This game gets better the more you play it.
    Don't forget to like and subscribe, i am very active with uploading videos. I live stream a minimum of 5 nights a week and once i am well versed in a game i start to release guides that will help you with some of these difficult games.
    Come join us, if we can recruit more of you in our army, we will make room if we have too. We now have 14 viewers among our ranks.
    Our ranks are still growing;

    the tips about the reticles was really helpful I completely missed it ,one thing I like to add is if an enemy attack you while you are in cover and missed then change your cover because in second attempts it's guaranteed that they are going to get hit you the same thing applies to enemy also so when you are hitting your enemy plan your attack accordingly as first short might missed but second one is guaranteed success I noticed this while playing as difficulty veteran

  • @LegionaryCohort480
    @LegionaryCohort480 8 років тому +1

    Just to point this out:
    When you were on a mission and shooting that grenade at the Viper and the soldier, a very powerful tactic is placing your guys on overwatch before initiating combat. That way they'll get reaction shots on them when they start moving and potentially kill them before they can even get into cover.
    This is also a very useful tactic against reinforcement drops if you can get your soldiers into position on in time.

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      +LegionaryCohort480 Thank you for the comment,
      That tactic will get you killed on legendary unless you can guarantee you kill the pull. You need to keep some soldiers to react seeing as Over watch can easily count for over kill damage and not prioritizing the proper targets.

    • @LegionaryCohort480
      @LegionaryCohort480 8 років тому

      Ronin Jeremy As with everything, I would say it depends. Of course you shouldn't do this every time you encounter this situation, but it's one tactic to keep in mind as an option.
      The advantage of this tactic is that you catch the aliens in the open and therefore have a higher chance of hitting them than when they move to cover.
      The disadvantage is that your soldiers will be left standing where they are, not giving you any movement options in case they don't get the kill and also that you can't prioritize targets, as you said.
      As long as you keep these points in mind, this tactic can be very powerful and using it in the wrong situation can be devastating, as is the case with almost all tactics.
      I just thought I'd mention it, because it definitiely is something to keep in mind as an option, especially in early game when your soldiers don't have all that much aim, so catching them in the open will help, and the aliens still have fairly low health.

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      Yes in early game i do yes it since you don't have many options. But once you get a bit farther into the game i will only use it with certain classes. EX: keep my ranger to finish off an enemy that would survive, keep a sniper with good aim in case the over watch were to target a low HP target and waste some precious damage or a second Grenadier or psi op that can followup with Guaranteed AOE damage or destroy cover.
      Also make sure that the Class that is using Over watch is not a ranger with Prowl... they will not attack unless spotted by the enemy.

    • @LegionaryCohort480
      @LegionaryCohort480 8 років тому

      +Ronin Jeremy I entirely agree with what you said :)
      Like I said, it's something to keep in mind since it can be very powerful when done correctly and in the right situation.
      Also, and this is probably more personal preference than anything else, I never get Prowl or Predator or whatever it's called on my Rangers, I always go for Blademaster. When you get Blademaster coupled with Bladestorm and Reaper, your Ranger is just an absolute beast in melee and with the right support from the rest of the team they can hack the aliens up like butter. The other ability allows you to scout more, which I find to not be quite as useful. This is probably due in large parts to my playstyle, which tends to be very agressive (I like running squads with something like 4 Rangers and 2 Specialists skilled as medics and maybe switching somebody out for a heavy with the armor-shredding skill if I'm expecting a lot of armored aliens).

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      Yeah Blade master was fine on Normal for me. Once i started Legend i found that early on at least having a scout for those times missions was very helpful. The sword was just a bit unreliable. But then again i was not using 4 rangers. Rangers are really useful though with that 100% hit chance with a shotgun early on in the game, plus for an early weapon the shotgun holds up in damage very well.

    the gurilla tactical school sould not be close to the workshop just a heads up, the building you want close to a workshop is building you can staff engeneeres in

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      Yes but you can only staff so many things in your buildings. It's from my experience that early game the workshop is really handy but late game it's almost useless since I end up with more Engineers than I can use. Typically power and radio should be close depending on the areas surrounding them for passive bonuses. That still leaves 2 spots near the workshop, unless you put it in a corner....which I might have done on my first run mind you.
      Thanks for the comment.

    Yeah I feel like flashbangs and smoke grenades have no effect on their aim. Somehow they can still land their shots on my soldiers behind full cover through smoke screens while being disoriented smh -__-

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  6 років тому +1

      The flashbangs are more for canceling their skills TBH, especially in the late game where their aim is really high. Smoke Grenades shouldn't technically be thrown on people but in between the enemies and yourself but then both teams couldn't see well. I don't like the magic smoke but the reinforced one is really good until you can just blow everything up with war suits and PSY OPS.

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      +Милан Миловић That is not a great idea, if you end up leaving them alive, then the enemy gets free hits on you. Should always keep 1-2 people on back up, for another grenade or a flank. Rangers work great at that since CQB with a shotgun is almost always 100%

  • @RoninJeremy
    @RoninJeremy  5 років тому

    for that you will need radio's in your base. Id suggest you build it near your workshop to have more engineers available, or even on a power node in your base to have more power to that building.

    Hiya Ronin,
    Thank you for the wonderful and thorough tips they really help! I was wondering, does scientific research trigger Aliens to level up faster early on in the game?
    I think maybe there is some research to hold off on until your armor is at a certain level. I have restarted to the game ( as I am totally new) many times to see if by mid-game if I am strong enough to handle harder enemies, and I have found that holding off on scientific research and taking things slow really helps with clearing dark events. Any thoughts?

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      +Deedee Hmmm good question... I am not sure about all researches but much like Xcom 1 some elements in the game like research does advance the story. So if you can avoid doing those plot points until you are ready then yes you will slow down their progress. One that comes to mind would be A codex research or like the Black site mission. Pretty much anything that is in you "quest Log". Now i don't think it halts their progress but definitely slows them down.
      Thanks for the comment ill have to do a bit more digging into this next time i attempt Legend mode.

    • @danvocals123
      @danvocals123 8 років тому

    They dont spot you even if they move near you as long as there's cover between you and them, if they move near you and flank you by mistake, then they will see you.
    i know this because in one of those maps with raised streets there were two squads patrolling on top and i didnt notice so i move under it and saw another squad and while i was positioning to engage the two squads on top decended and were right next to me but didnt see me because i had cover, by then i realized i had 3 squads of enemies right in front of me but thanks to the fact that they didt notice me until i move, i could set up an overwatch trap with my current position, sadly even with that the fight was tough and i lost one soldier in the process, my main ranger who was focused and i almost ended up losing 2 more but they barely survived, knowing Xcom this could have gone horribly wrong but concealment and cover saved me.

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      +Tony Storm No i agree they don't see you unless you move or get flanked, having 3 groups is really a bad situation that could easily cost you your entire squad. If you are playing on a higher difficulty 3 squads is a death sentence. One mod i would like to see is for the timer to only start counting down once your concealment phase is over. Which then you could further use the concealment phase to your advantage.
      Be careful with the over watch traps, if you put too many soldiers in over watch you could easily lose soldiers to a missed shot.

    I would say skipping magnetic weapons on any difficulty would be bad advice/idea. As both new and expert players should need/want magnetic weapons in there playthrough.
    And if you fine yourself unlocking plasma weapons before magnetic weapons. That means you researched to many things of lesser value. And you might want to try a harder difficulty.
    But over all I enjoyed the video.

      thanks for the comment, I have to disagree with you though.
      I usually play on hard and the risk vs reward of going straight for plasma is worth it. You save a lot of time getting the plasma and also resources.
      I haven't played in a really long time but if i were to give it another go i'd still likely skip those.

  • @Mithguar
    @Mithguar 8 років тому +2

    You do not want to skip weapon tech and it always better to get weapon before armor. You want to kill enemy before they have a chance to fight back and as mentioned, the higher the difficulty, longer it take for research and building. The longet it take, new enemy units will be deployed. Try to take out berserker with your assault rifles befor it get to you to rip you apart...
    I finished game on commander difficulty, doing Legend atm...

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      I would disagree with weapons first seeing as the armor can save a soldier from dying early on. Your weapons should not be skipped on higher difficulties but will keep you going long enough to get armor first. Losing a soldier is expensive in both time and supplies. Now if the new weapons actually had more than just a small damage boost I would agree with you. like 5 to 10 aim.

    • @Mithguar
      @Mithguar 8 років тому +2

      +Ronin Jeremy idea is to not get shot. Sure it will happen and you will get armor. but if your soldier is at bad spot 2 or 3 hp won't save you. You will still die in 2 shots or one crit. But if enemy die in 2 shots instead of 3 make HUGE difference. With 6 people it's difference between killing whole pod right at contact and taking fire. And in early stages, rushed mag weapons might even 1 shot some enemies. Dead can't shoot at you. Only reason to rush armors is for extra utility slot for more granades, mimic beacons and ammo. And btw mimic beacon is what will save your soldiers, not armor.

    • @FuckGoogle2
      @FuckGoogle2 8 років тому

      +Ronin Jeremy Violence of action, seek to dominate and decimate the enemy before they get a chance to shoot back.

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      +Mithguar The first tier of armor is HP, the mag weapons are only 1 added damage. Next time i get a chance i will try this strategy to see what i like more. but that 4 hp does save you while you are working on getting the mimic beacons.

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      +Dissident101 Thanks for the comment, i do get the idea, but the loss of a soldier is costly on Legend mode, as i said to Mithguar, i will try it in my next run, won't be until after Dark Souls 3 at this point but i will give it a shot.

  • @ShatteredEquilibrium
    @ShatteredEquilibrium 8 років тому +8

    You should always put everyone on overwatch before initiating attack with a granade, that way you get 5 free shots before enemy's turn.

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому +5

      I Highly disagree on that, if you miss then the enemy gets a free hit on you that way. you also lose out on the possibility of flanking and by doing just that on legend ironman I lost 3 soldiers in one turn. They are not free shots, it ends your turn and your shots count as low cover. Now it can work in some situations but definetly not all that often.

      +Ronin Jeremy It's true what you say, you need some operatives to be able to react but the bonus of firing overwatch from concealment is that there is no aim penalty on those.
      So it is good if you have high percentages to hit and that way you can hit the enemies before they are in cover.

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      Thanks i did not realize the concealment canceled out aim penalty. Thanks for that.
      Maybe i need another commander run before Legend iron man. But still having everyone on over watch is not a free hit. It is not the same as the enemy walking into your FOV.
      Thanks again Joris, tips with explanations are always welcome.

    • @Mithguar
      @Mithguar 8 років тому

      +Ronin Jeremy tbh best ambushes are after initial concealment is blown. When you have ranger scouting (concealed thx to phantom) and you set up overwatch on enemy who is on patrol. Pod will activate when they walk in your main group sight range, but if pod activate during enemy turn they won't shoot. So you can get off your overwatch shots and then you start your turn... and shoot them again.
      But ather then that i agree. Never put everyone on overwatch...

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому

      +Mithguar I agree 100% with you on that ambush, only problem is that most maps have timers so early on you would be limited on that option. Unless you also bring 2 rangers that will only work for 2 pulls and there are 4 on legend. either way if you manage to get both weapons and armor, which would be in the same timeframe to get both. You are pretty much set unless you make a mistake at that point. The first few months are the most important ones.

    • @alexoelkers2723
      @alexoelkers2723 8 років тому +1

      +Ronin Jeremy There really isn't even a reason to upgrade the first workshop. Building one workshop in the center works well early in the game but more than that isn't needed as you even up with more than you can use by the mid game. Best to use your money in other places.

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому +1

      +June Oelkers I highly disagree, especially when playing on higher difficulties. It will give you a nice boost for early supplies and allowing you to focus on scientists and other rewards rather than engineers. Don't forget on legend difficulty almost everything is doubled in time needed for research,excavating and building.

    • @alexoelkers2723
      @alexoelkers2723 8 років тому +1

      I don't know by the mid-game you are going to have a ton of engineers sitting around doing absolutely nothing but still need a ton of cash you don't have to finish upgrading your tier three weapons, And its not just the supplies your investing in the workshop and the its upgrade, its the power. Its not a cheap investment and there is a lot of other things you need to put your money into. Like I said early game the first level workshop might not be a bad idea but when your looking back on it late game...

    • @alexoelkers2723
      @alexoelkers2723 8 років тому +1

      +Ronin Jeremy But then Im playing on commander. Your right, it may be different on legend. On Commander your going to have a ton of engineers sitting around doing nothing for most of the game and that's something a lot of people have a problem with the design of the game.

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  8 років тому +1

      +June Oelkers You can control the amount of engineers you get for the most part. The few resources needed are well worth the speed boost you will get in the long run. IMO now the lab is not really needed before legend IMO , I tend to run out of research well before the end. if you put a power room next to your workshop, just use a gremlin in it and you will gain more than you used for the workshop.

      Hey Alex, maybe you need to go to the basics of the game. It is pretty brutal but once you understand the combat mechanics it becomes very manageable. I did do a video on it for the original Xcom.
      Just remember that Cover is crucial but won't always save you. Don't even consider low cover and always try to flank the enemy. The game is a reverse difficulty progression, it's hardest in the beginning and after a couple fights you start to turn the tide and it gets easier if you can manage to be good in the beginning.

    Why do people use mods on this game. Just play it how it is

    • @RoninJeremy
      @RoninJeremy  4 роки тому

      Well, for the most part, after you've completed the game as it is, it can be great to have a new experience or even improve on some UI aspects of the game.
      For one, after a few playthroughs, I added more enemies to my game. I also added some better UI elements to make it easier to see what health the enemies have and other symbols that are easier to quick reference as opposed to what the developers had in mind.
      And other reasons are the overhauls like long war, which changes the entire play style of the game and gives it a fresh feeling again. All of these reasons add to the replayability of a game.
      How do you feel about DLC and expansions? Those are technically mods as well.
